Situated in a lovely residential area of Hoylake, 10 minutes walk from the Prom, Abney Low is a 37 bedded nursing home, providing nursing care to older people and people living with dementia.

The home has many places for residents to relax and enjoy the company of family and friends, including a large lounge area, a dining room as well as some quieter areas.

The home also has a large garden area which is popular in the warmer months, with residents enjoying outdoor activities, including barbecues, throughout the summer.

Mealtimes represent an important social occasion for residents and the team work to ensure they are as enjoyable as possible, unhurried and relaxed with residents being given plenty of time to eat and enjoy their meal. The home's chefs prepare nutritious and delicious meals, which are freshly made each day. They also cater for people who may have specialist dietary needs.

Our mum has been in Abney Low for a month now. Since day one, she has been heard with ultimate care and compassion by all the staff, including management. Mum has late-stage Alzheimer's and has difficult days, but the staff are always on hand to support her and the family. As a family, we feel she is
safe and being looked after.

My brother's health was deteriorating quickly but we thought it was due to his condition. However, the night duty staff recognised that he needed immediate medical care and contacted the duty doctor. My brother was subsequently rushed to hospital via ambulance. Without the staff's care and vigilance,
my brother may have been in a worse condition, could you pass on my thanks.

There needs to be a system to sign residents in and out of the building. Rooms need checking ft freshness daily.
Staff treat my parents with respect and kindness and have taken time to get to know them.

The staff are amazing and very caring towards my mum and dad. My mum recently passed and they have supported my dad no end. He loves chatting with all of the lovely people. They couldn't do any more than they already do.

Fantastic care provided by very caring and attentive staff towards Mum and Dad at Abney Low. When Dad was taken into hospital, the nurses said they had not seen such comprehensive paperwork for many years, every detail was taken into account, even to how Dad liked his cup of tea.
The staff have been
incredibly thoughtful and very sympathetic to Mum and the family following Dad's recent passing.

My mum has been here since October 2024. We have been warmly greeted by management and staff all of who are very attentive to our mums needs. Mum enjoys her meals and gets on well with everyone. There is always an activity going on mum particularly enjoyed the visit from the animals. I feel very happy
that mum has settled into her new home.

There is one member of staff who consistently goes above and beyond. She not only interacts with my dad in a manner which makes my dad relaxed and happy but she also engages with family offering personal support when they are struggling. She is the usual chef but also performs caring shifts. She always
provides help + support whatever hat she is wearing. An absolute gem of a member of staff.

My husband has recently gone into Abney Low with Parkinson's. I have not found fault with the home/accommodation and he has settled in very quickly. Staff are wonderful and I'd like to recommend the home very highly.

The staff at Abney Low are exceptionally kind, helpful and professional. Recently, he was in a very bad way, which meant three of us stayed all day and overnight - we were looked after with such kindness. The staff also keep us informed at all times of how his care is happening.

Although he has not been at the home that long he has suffered bad and deteriorating health problems (which have not been caused by his stay at the the home but as an unfortunate health decline but he has been and his family treated with dignity as have the family) throughout. Obviously these events
are upsetting but it is something he has to overcome and unfortunately I think will arise again. Thank you and your staff for all you have done and continue to do in the future. Thank you.

My dad has recently moved in and has settled in really well. The staff are lovely and he is really responding well to them. We unfortunately had an episode where he was really poorly and the staff treated him so well. Their response with the medical teams went above and beyond, their support to both
dad and the family was exceptional. We will be forever grateful to them for treating us so well. I would not hesitate in recommending Abney Low to anyone.

My mum joined the other residents in November 2024. She has settled so well. I am more than happy with the care and attention she has received. I am comforted when I leave Mum there because she is looked after so well.

Chris Fletcher is the Home Manager and has been involved in healthcare for a number of years. Chris has a wealth of experience in multiple facets of care home job roles and other areas of the care sector.


He is ultimately responsible for the effective and professional running of the care home but will allocate time to discuss any aspect of our Resident's care or any problems they may be experiencing. Chris is keen to work closely and in partnership with our Residents, their relatives and significant others to benefit the Residents in his care.
