Situated in a lovely residential area of Hoylake, 10 minutes walk from the Prom, Abney Low is a 37 bedded nursing home, providing nursing care to older people and people living with dementia.

The home has many places for residents to relax and enjoy the company of family and friends, including a large lounge area, a dining room as well as some quieter areas.

The home also has a large garden area which is popular in the warmer months, with residents enjoying outdoor activities, including barbecues, throughout the summer.

Mealtimes represent an important social occasion for residents and the team work to ensure they are as enjoyable as possible, unhurried and relaxed with residents being given plenty of time to eat and enjoy their meal. The home's chefs prepare nutritious and delicious meals, which are freshly made each day. They also cater for people who may have specialist dietary needs.

My nan has been here for 2 years, she has dementia and is not good with change, all the staff helped her settle in so quickly without any problems. The care they give is outstanding treating her with love and care always. We often find a member of staff just sitting with her giving her some company.
The staff are laughing and joking and keep everyone upbeat. Fantastic home, couldn't ask for more.

My mum has been under the care of the nurses and staff since she's been here. All the staff have been amazing in making Mum feel comfortable with their friendly, caring attitude. The nurses are brilliant keeping me up to date with Mum's medical conditions and always ring with the latest development
regarding Mum's health. I can confirm that all the staff that have been in contact with Mum have given her the highest level of care and love.

My husband has been a resident since February 2023, his first few months were quite difficult both for him and me. I feel like the last few months he has settled better with the help of good staff and management. If I need to seek help and advice about anything everyone is very helpful.

I visited my nan at The Anchorage for the first time last month. It was wonderful seeing her looking so happy and being so well cared for at the home. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming to us.

My father moved into The Anchorage in January 2022. The room he has is spacious and light. It needs to be decorated and a ramp is required so he can go out into the outside space. He feels safe and secure and is well looked after. Although the constant change in staff is a concern, he is well looked
after and quite often chooses to stay in his room. Overall, I would say The Anchorage and its staff are very good.

I have always found the staff extremely friendly and caring towards my mum. Whenever I visit my mum, she always has a happy demeanour and is well dressed. I can see that she has settled in the home and is "happy" being there. This brings me great comfort and I am very grateful for all of the hard work
of the staff to provide a safe and pleasant environment for my mum in her twilight years.

A warm welcome by staff and very friendly. My father has a ground-floor room which has patio doors looking out onto a small courtyard which my father likes. He seems contented and finds the staff very caring. The house is an old building which needs updating.

Chris Fletcher

Job Title: Manager Joined: 2023

Chris Fletcher is the Home Manager and has been involved in healthcare for a number of years. Chris has a wealth of experience in multiple facets of care home job roles and other areas of the care sector.


He is ultimately responsible for the effective and professional running of the care home but will allocate time to discuss any aspect of our Resident's care or any problems they may be experiencing. Chris is keen to work closely and in partnership with our Residents, their relatives and significant others to benefit the Residents in his care. He is a dynamic team leader and has an ongoing interest in professional development and career progression.
