My mother was left in her room alone, in a wheelchair with no safety pressure mat/alarm in place and the buzzer on the floor out of reach, feet plates up, no footwear, dirty duvet, a jug of water out of reach and no glass. The records from the daily report incorrect - the last comment was 4 hours previous saying 'settled in the lounge'. The nurse in overall charge was informed and not actioned. I alerted the staff. This took place after two formal complaints and meetings with management.

My partner has been in Chapel Fields Care Home for approximately three weeks. She is very settled, perfectly happy and is enjoying her time here.

In the short time we have known Chapel Fields, we are happy with the services that they offer.

As a family, we were dreading putting our nan/mum into a home and not being able to see or spend time with her as much. But Chapel Fields Care Home has been so supportive, allowing us to visit as often as we would like and spend as much time with her as wanted. Nan always seems happy and is always busy joining in with all her activities. We never thought she'd settle as quickly as she has and we are so thankful for all the amazing staff at Chapel Fields and their kindnesses.

My mum spent ten months at Chapel Fields Care Home and received the most excellent care during her time there. As a family, we were distraught when we had to finally admit her - we could no longer cope with her condition (vascular dementia). The staff were without exception so caring and helpful throughout Mum's stay. The food was excellent and her room was comfortable. Sadly, Mum passed away in February and the staff supported us so well during those last few days - we could not have coped without them. They are all angels.

My father became a resident in March 2022. It was an extremely difficult decision but one which now we know was the right one. The staff are extremely professional and very caring, and we are happy that all of his needs are being catered for. On a recent visit, he told us that he wouldn't want to be anywhere else now as he feels safe and secure! Recently he has experienced more health issues, but we are kept informed of these at all times. The kindness and support shown to us by the staff is excellent. Thank you so much.

My mother-in-law moved into Chapel Fields Care Home during the pandemic and as such, we were unable to view the home first. However, the decision to locate her there has proven to be the right choice. She is settled and very well cared for by the lovely staff, who have helped her adapt to life in a care home.

My mother has been in the home for the last ten months. I feel my mother is in a safe, secure environment where she is well looked after by all the staff. Although bed-bound, she is always included in any of the occasions/celebrations that the home partakes in which has helped my mother settle into life in a home.

I have only known the home during Covid so hard to make a fully informed assessment. All I can say is staff seem considerate and caring and my mum generally seems content. In terms of the quality of care, difficult to be definitive but the home appears to do its best. Overall, I am happy with the care provided.

We would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Chapel Fields care home. The nursing care Mum receives on a daily basis is much appreciated. Mum is always very pleased to see the carers. They know immediately what she wants! All the staff are friendly and welcoming to our family and always go the extra mile to help, even during the recent most challenging circumstances.

In my honest opinion Chapel Fields Care Home nurses and carers are all excellent. My mum passed away and I could not have had more care for all my family at this very difficult time.

I can only say "a big thank you" to all the staff at Chapel Fields for their care and help over the past 7 months for the kindness and support to my brother-in-law. We as his relatives are so pleased to see the improvement, welfare and mobility they have achieved since he has been a resident. Keep up the good work in these difficult times.

I wrote a review over a month ago about the poor standard of care that my father received at Chapel Fields. He died in less than a month of living there. Fit and well prior to going into the home. The response to my review was that the manager was going to contact our family to discuss further. They haven’t contacted us.

Reply from Heather Ross, Home Manager at Chapel Fields

I did say that we have investigated the points you raised and that I would contact your mum to offer a meeting. I am sorry you felt we should have contacted her sooner, but we did not think this was appropriate during the Christmas period and intended to contact your mum this week, and still do.

It was a hard decision to make when I had to put my Aunt in a home, but having seen how much better she is now, after only a couple of months, it could not have been better. The staff are wonderful and so helpful. Very professional and communication is excellent. Requests, nothing has been too much for them. My Aunt is very happy and settled. I no longer need to worry about her, knowing she is being well looked after.

This has been an exceptionally difficult year for residents, their families and care staff. Throughout it, all the staff have been cheerful, empathetic and caring despite the agonies and fear they must have been feeling.

losing my father during lockdown was a particularly difficult moment as I could not be with my mother or have her attend the funeral again the staff stepped up to the mark doing what clearly comes naturally to them. Thank you.
