Lawton Manor is a luxury care home, set in two acres of grounds on the Cheshire-Staffordshire border, in the village of Church Lawton. Close to Alsager and also the lovely National Trust Property Little Morton Hall, Lawton Manor offers residential, nursing, and palliative care.

The home has views over picturesque farmland and rolling country hills as well as the beautiful, landscaped garden, tiered fountain, and large patio area.

The home's courtesy vehicle ensures you're within easy reach of all the amenities of Church Lawton.

The majority of bedrooms are en-suite and rooms are not assigned by care type. Instead, they encourage residents to choose the room that’s right for them. The home has a number of wonderful communal spaces, including two dining spaces, lounges, a conservatory, library, cinema room, and games room where they keep the popular Wii console.

Trained chefs provide a daily menu of nutritious, tasty meals, which residents can have in the restaurant-style dining room or their own rooms, whichever they prefer. Special dietary requirements will be catered for.

An activities coordinator plans regular events so everyone is kept busy, though participation is entirely optional. There are daily events in the home as well as regular excursions. Residents and relatives are invited to contribute to the planning sessions, to ensure that everyone desires are being met.

My father recently passed away whilst receiving palliative care at Lawton Manor. As a family, we would like to express our gratitude for the wonderful care he received in his final days. From the first phone call I received to let me know dad had arrived safely, there was absolute professionalism from
every member of staff I met. Being allowed to sit with my father as he neared the end of his life brought great comfort to all of his family and friends. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and my father passed away with dignity; a testament to all at Lawton Manor. I pray that the staff and residents stay safe during these turbulent times. God bless you all. From all of our family.

My mother was a resident at Lawton Manor for approximately three years, during this period I have found the staff to be caring and friendly at all levels. The domestic ladies take a huge interest in the welfare of the residents and often go above and beyond their normal duties to form a relationship
and provide companionship when required. The home is always kept extremely clean, entertainment provided and we have always felt well informed of my mother's condition.

On entering the home there is a bright and welcoming atmosphere. The cleanliness, maintenance and laundry services are excellent. The majority of staff are caring, efficient and cheerful, although, at times they have too much to do and residents have to wait for attention - especially at night. The
quality of the meals varies - there is a lot of repetition and very little imagination - the exceptions being the lunchtime soups and teatime sandwiches which are good.
The buzzer system is very irritating - would it not be possible to restrict calls to the floor from which they emanate to provide respite for some of the residents and staff?

We pride ourselves on the dining experience we offer, and we take on suggestions from regular residents' meetings when planning the menu - why don't you pop along to the next meeting so we can ensure there are more dishes that your friend enjoys on the menu in addition to the soups and sandwiches? With regards to the buzzer system, we have looked at allocating buzzers to certain floors however we feel this would not be safe as in an emergency the buzzer needs to be heard around the whole home. My Mum who is 86 came to Lawton Manor Care Home as a full-time resident in 25th Feb 2018. She suffered pneumonia and heart failure and was in need of care and rehabilitation to learn to walk again (Zimmer). All the staff across all lines of this home have been fantastic, not only has my mum received
excellent care but she has been encouraged and supported in such a way that not only is she walking (with Zimmer) but she has grown back into becoming her own person again, tales to tell and an energy for life that hasn't been seen in a long time. I knew when I started my search I'd need somewhere safe and caring for my mum but I can honestly say Lawton Manor Care Home is more than that with a massive thanks to all!!

Very clean room which was also suitable airy and had a view across the fields. The home itself was also very clean and had the facilities which suited my needs including the entertainment program. Staff were excellent, very friendly and always available to meet my needs, especially hygiene and bathroom
needs. Very flexible at meal times providing food of my choice which may not have been on the menu.

The staff at Lawton Manor looked after my sister extremely well during her stay before she passed away. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They also make all our relatives very welcome. I cannot praise all of the staff enough. Thank you all so much for taking care of my sister.

Lawton Manor Care Home is a home filled with warmth, kindness and love. Although my sister was only a resident here for 3 months until her passing, the care given to both her and our family, was outstanding. The dedicated staff are led by an equally dedicated manager, all are approachable and have one
main goal - to give full support to the resident and family. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Lawton Manor.

When my mum was admitted to Lawton Manor, the process was incredibly easy and quick - I was told of the offer of a bed on Friday afternoon, visited Lawton Manor on Sunday morning, accepted the offer of a bed for my mum on Monday morning, and my mum was assessed and admitted by Tuesday afternoon.


The

venue is in the country, so there are great, uninterrupted countryside views, and although situated by a fairly busy A-road, very quiet and peaceful. It is situated in its own, well-maintained grounds with seating areas for residents and guests to take advantage of.


The staff are all friendly and have the welfare of the residents at the forefront of their work time. There are daily activities for the residents, mixed with trips out to various places and events. They organise events for residents and their guests in their own grounds as well, with everyone made to feel very welcome.


There is also a hairdresser that comes in on a weekly basis.


Nothing seems to be too much trouble.

Lawton Manor was a comfortable place for my mother to spend her last years.
Common areas are very pleasant and provide residents opportunities to socialise, watch TV, take part in activities or just sit quietly.
The dining room is pleasant and the food is good and suitable for the needs of residents
as they age.
Care, both social and nursing is good and staff are concerned for the needs of the residents.

Mum was a resident for 2 years. During her stay, she was extremely happy. All the staff were kind and caring and made mum feel special. There were lots of events to look forward to and the entertainment was excellent.

Mum was a resident at Lawton Manor for 1 year. We cannot thank all the staff from the cleaners, laundry workers, carers, nurses to the office and management staff enough for the care they gave to her. They did their best with difficulties sometimes because of low staff numbers. The system used to calculate
numbers of staff required is set by a company policy scheme. However, this is not enough. There were times when mum had to wait for care which was unacceptable, not the fault of the staff on duty, it's the fault of the system.

My wife has been on respite in this establishment for one month and she is happy with the attention and care provided and so am I.
The food is very well presented, tasty and plentiful. The kitchen staff are very patient and caring when serving the residents and great care is taken to ensure that no
one is overlooked. The daily entertainments provided are of very high standard and wonderful to see the artists interacting with the residents. A very big thank you to the management and all staff.

Rebecca Whitehouse

Job Title: General Manager

Hi, my name is Rebecca and I am General Manager at Lawton Manor.


I have worked within the health and social care sector for over 15 years now in a variety of roles and services all over Central England. My passion has always been older people's care - I feel that the older generation has such a wealth of life experience and knowledge they can pass on to us, which means every day I learn something new in my role.


I started my career in care as a carer and have worked my way up to then work within a variety of management roles within the sector including home management/commissioning manager/regional support manager/regional manager in both residential and nursing settings.


I am passionate about making a difference to the people who live with us and feel I am in a very privileged role to be able to do this. I am also passionate about working with teams to develop and enhance their skills and knowledge to make them the best they can be.

Donna

Donna Ganaden

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2002

Donna is our Deputy Manager here at Lawton Manor. She has been a registered nurse for over 30 years and was delighted to have been awarded a 20 year Long Service award by Barchester Healthcare in 2022.


Donna likes nursing because it’s a profession that never stops giving. You learn new things every day, and the opportunity for growth is almost unlimited. She feels so good inside when she sees improvement in residents and also when giving emotional support to their family members. Donna also said it actually gives her inner peace that she's able to help somebody.


Donna feels extremely privileged within her career so far to work with the incredible team at Lawton Manor.

Liz

Liz Maxwell

Job Title: Home Administrator Joined: 2010

This is Liz and she has worked at “The Manor” since 2010. She started as Activities Co-ordinator and is now our wonderful Home Administrator. Liz is responsible for ensuring all contracts are in place for the people we support and all the staff too. She is in charge of invoicing, payroll, purchases and takes great care of our numbers game in the home.


Liz has an open door policy and is most happy to speak with families, residents and staff that need support in the day. Outside of work, Liz likes to take trips to the farm in Anglesey with her family where they visit the beach. She also loves being a foodie, as she enjoys going to restaurants.

Julie

Julie Buckley

Job Title: Admin Assistant Joined: 2006

With years of service behind her at Lawton Manor, most of all Julie loves the interaction with residents. Julie started working with us in 2006, and her role is to support colleagues and staff members daily, especially so when meeting and greeting residents' relatives, families and their friends.


In her spare time Julie likes to be with her family and friends. She really enjoys going away on mini breaks for a bit of retail therapy and loves eating out in restaurants with her husband.

Nina

Nina Simms

Job Title: Admin Assistant Joined: 2024

Nina is one of our Admin Assistants, and she has worked at Lawton Manor since July 2024, although she has worked for Barchester since 2017.


She enjoys meeting and greeting all of our visitors in the home and, thoroughly enjoys getting to know the residents and socialising with them.


Nina finds her role extremely rewarding as no two days are ever the same. She is excited to continue to learn more about Lawton Manor and supporting the team.

Kimberley

Kimberley Finney

Job Title: Activities Assistant / Wellbeing & Dignity Champion Joined: 2022

Kim joined the Lawton Manor team in 2022 as a Carer, and loved spending time with the residents so much that she moved over to our Activities team in March 2024, which she absolutely loves! Kim will regularly tell you how passionate she is about her job and enriching the lives of our residents every single day. She helps them engage in meaningful activities, which also helps support the transition for new residents.


From trips out, to person-centred activities, and making our home look beautiful and festive for every occasion alongside our Activities Co-ordinator Chloe, you can always tell when Kim has been around! We love having Kim as part of our team and seeing how she has made our residents happy each week.

Nick Mason

Job Title: Head Chef

Nick has been a professional chef for many years before he started cooking up a storm here at Lawton Manor. He has worked in a Michelin star restaurant in London and in restaurants all over Europe.


Nick feels honoured to be a Chef in service to the older generation who he says, have done so much for us throughout their lives.

James Turner

Job Title: Head of Maintenance

Over the years that James has worked at Lawton Manor, most of all he loves the interaction and variety his role provides, and feels privileged to be able to make a difference in people’s lives by ensuring their home is maintained and presented to a high standard.


Prior to joining the Lawton Manor team, James worked as Head Maintenance for the NHS in a local hospital.

Plamen

Plamen Geshev

Job Title: Maintenance Assistant Joined: 2014

Plamen is our Maintenance Assistant at Lawton Manor, and is always around to offer a helping hand. No job is too big or too small - whatever he can do to support the team and residents he absolutely will.


Plamen works closely with James, our Head of Maintenance and no day is ever the same. He really enjoys his job and takes great pride in making sure residents' rooms and the home in general are snag free and looking great always.

Deborah

Deborah Pickering

Job Title: Head of Housekeeping Joined: 2012

Deborah has worked at Lawton Manor since 2012, and has been Head of Housekeeping since 2021. She absolutely loves her job, as she loves the atmosphere and environment of Lawton Manor.


Deborah is such an integral part of our team and so supportive - we're lucky to have her. She is responsible for making sure rooms are always looking good and feeling comfortable for our residents, as well as setting up rooms for new residents and the general cleanliness of our home.


When asked what she enjoys about her job, Deborah answered: "I love the vibe of our home, and generally making people happy. I love the bones of the team here, and especially the residents. As the Housekeeping Team, we're involved in residents' day to day life as much as the care team are, and I can never say no to them so I'm wrapped around their finger! We have such a good team, I'm proud to be a part of it."

Michelle

Michelle Rowley

Job Title: Housekeeper Joined: 2017

This is Michelle and she has been a member of the Housekeeping Team at Lawton Manor since 2017. In Michelle's words, she loves the atmosphere our home has, there's always something going on and everyone is always happy.


We have a great team here and being involved with the residents' everyday lives is something special.

Yvonne

Yvonne Seddon

Job Title: Housekeeper Joined: 2015

Yvonne has worked at Lawton Manor since 2015, and just loves everything about her job. In her words, being with the residents every day is so much fun. In 2022, Yvonne was our Divisional Winner in the Barchester Care Awards for Hospitality of the Year, which is something she's incredibly proud of and is testament to how much she loves her job! She can't imagine doing anything else.

Diane

Diane Lawson

Job Title: Laundry Assistant Joined: 2006

Diane started working at Lawton Manor in 2006 and is a member of the Housekeeping Team and Laundry Department. She enjoys the fast pace of the home and loves to chat with the residents when delivering freshly laundered linen back to residents' rooms. There's always something to chat about or help with and it's the highlight of her day.


In her spare time, Diane loves to read and go for walks. In the summer you'll find her in the garden, and in the winter she loves to spend her time knitting.

Florence

Florence Kangwa

Job Title: Registered Nurse Joined: 2015

This is Flo and she has been a Nurse at Lawton Manor since 2015. Flo loves and values her job because she makes a difference, particularly when our residents are happier and give her a smile. In her words, it is the best payment and reward she could ask for, and she will treasure such memories always.


When Flo is off duty, she likes to attend her church meeting which is in line with the care of others that she does every day. To treat people respectively is her biggest value.

Joanne

Joanne Wood

Job Title: Registered Nurse Joined: 2010

Jo qualified as an RNLD in 1989, and has worked with us at Lawton Manor since 2010. She enjoys delivering person-centred care to residents, and feels her career experience enables her to deliver the best nursing care to residents with complex issues and all disabilities. Outside of work, Jo likes to keep fit by running, and she belongs to a Tap Dance Group and has performed at the Crewe Lyceum Theatre!

Sam

Sam Watkins

Job Title: Care Home Assistant Practitioner Joined: 2009

Sam started his career at Lawton Manor in 2009 as a Kitchen Assistant. Taking an interest in the care side of our home, Sam has since worked his way up to Care Home Assistant Practitioner and is thoroughly enjoying his role as he feels there is a sense of achievement every day.


Sam spends his free time with his family as he is a doting dad and is a huge Star Wars and Marvel fan.

Lydia

Lydia Stringer

Job Title: Care Home Assistant Practitioner Joined: 2013

Lydia has worked at Lawton Manor since 2013 when she started as Healthcare Assistant. Lydia was quickly promoted to the position of “In House Trainer for Carers” before becoming a Senior Carer. Lydia has always worked very hard and qualified as a Care Home Practitioner in 2021.


In her spare time Lydia enjoys cooking various cuisine including Chinese dishes and Curries from different Nations using her own blends of herbs and spices.
