On arrival, all the staff were very welcoming and pleasant. The room was of a high standard and comfortable. Staff helped me to settle into all aspects of home life. I was pleased to learn laundry services were provided. The care provided by all staff was of a high standard and suited to my personal
needs. All in all, I felt well looked after and respected. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

The only difficulty is gaining access to the building. Staff are busy, which is appreciated, but it can often take over 10/15 minutes to be admitted to see my mother. If this issue could be addressed in some particular way, it would be appreciated. I understand security is a priority though.

Thank you for your review. We value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. We appreciate your frustration around response times for opening the front door and that you recognise the need for security at the home. We have recently employed a second home administrator to extend the hours reception is open Monday to Friday; however, this will not address the issue at night or at weekends. The home’s management team is implementing an increased presence in the home at weekends; they will be working in the administration offices near the front door. We will brief our staff to be more vigilant about the front doorbell, and we will also look into the possibility of enhancing our camera/door release technology. We hope these measures will improve the visiting experience.

Lovely care home with fantastic staff who are kindness itself. The care home is clean and very comfortable, and the place smells nice. Can't comment on some things as not relevant to my husband's stay in the care home because of it being end-of-life care and him only being there for just over a week.
However, the food from the kitchen smelt good. Safety and security were fine.

My mum has been at Overdene since December 2015. She took a while to settle, but now she loves it. All the staff are kind and understanding, making sure all her needs are met. She loves it when there are activities on, especially bingo and singing. If she's happy, I'm happy. I would definitely recommend
the home.

The home manager and the whole team went out of their way to ensure my mum got the bed urgently when she was dying of a brain tumour. They moved heaven and earth, well furniture anyway to get her in quickly when mum's deterioration took us by surprise. Mum only stayed a week but that gave us quality
time with her before the end. The staff went above and beyond to give her the care she needed and we will be eternally grateful to them for giving her the dignified and respectful care she deserved. Thank you all.

My stay at Overdene was arranged for respite while my wife had surgery. It was finalised very late and gave no opportunity to visit. The home was bright, clean and attractive. I had very limited opportunities to socialise as I was on the nursing wing. I found this difficult. The personal care was good,
and the staff were knowledgeable. Access to other lounges was hard, as it needed staff support for me to use the lift. Cheerful and good management too.

Thank you for your review of your short stay at Overdene. I am glad you liked the home and felt the care you received was good and that staff were knowledgeable. We also enjoyed having you stay. The things you felt were not satisfactory were unfortunately unavoidable as follows. You were accommodated on the nursing floor because at the time you needed the room we had no rooms on the lower floor. That you were not able to socialise was due to isolation rules at that time to keep you and all our Residents safe, had you stayed longer, that period would have past and socialising could have and would have been facilitated. I hope you and your wife stay well.

My husband has only been at Overdene for a short while, but he is happy and settled in his room. We have had permission to put up photos of our large family, children and grandchildren on the walls so he can see them. This helps his ever-decreasing memory. The manager is efficient and friendly, as are
the majority of the staff. I was permitted to meet my husband at Overdene on the day he was admitted, and I feel this helped him settle better.

On my visit to Ovedene although I was fully aware of all the procedures I had to go through I was quite nervous. Seeing my mum one to one after almost 6 months was going to be upsetting anyway. I had no need to worry everything was done so professionally and the carers were so helpful. Seeing my mum
was lovely, she was so happy, nothing could be faulted. We enjoyed every minute. Thank you for all you do, keeping my mum safe as well as protecting others. This year has been horrible especially for care homes and I know my mum wishes there were more activities and I appreciate it’s been difficult but I cannot fault the care she gets, all the staff need medals and lots and lots of praise. Thank you!

My mother has been a resident at Overdene for over 2 years. She is very well looked after and is happy with the care she receives. She has a comfortable room which overlooks a small garden area. Her room is equipped with everything she needs, and she finds it comfortable. Overdene takes care of all
my Mum’s GP needs and medication which is greatly appreciated. Laundry is regular and both my Mum’s room and the facilities are clean and well maintained. There are communal areas which my Mum enjoys using to chat with other residents, such as over meals. Overall, Overdene provides a very good level of care for my Mum and we are very happy with the service provided.

I am impressed by the care and consideration shown towards my mother. The home is well run and efficient. The staff are caring, respectful and considerate. My mother has never expressed anything other than positives about her care and treatment. I honestly don't think she could receive better care.

Although the property is a little "Tired" in appearance, The staff at Overdene House make up for this in every possible way. They are very caring towards their residents (and visitors). They will go out of their way to help in any way they can. I couldn't have wished for a better home for my mother
to be taken care of. At the end of the day, it's about the care that the staff give and I give them all the credit they deserve. If anybody is looking for the ideal home in this area, I would recommend Overdene House as the home of choice.

I enjoy my respite at Overdene. I have stayed a number of times and each time I am made welcome by the staff and greeted as a friend. The two different rooms I have stayed in were clean and comfortable, as is the lounge and dining room. I enjoy my choices of food and always plenty of it. I like my porridge.
I take part in activities and like my outings. The staff always help me when I get confused and are very patient. I look forward to my respite at Overdene.
