The Prospect House philosophy is that the individual should be at the centre of everything. The home is led by the Home Manager and a band of RGNs and RMNs with many years' experience in caring for the physical health needs of older people.

Dementia care is provided in the Garden Rooms. The Home also operates a nursing unit named Davenport and a quieter unit for those with more complex...

Review from Terry H (Husband of Resident) published on 10 February 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My wife was admitted to Prospect House on 30th January 2025, suffering from Alzheimer's disease. She is probably in the third stage of the disease, since she cannot talk,or walk, and needs to be helped with dressing, washing eating etc .She is also double incontinent.Up until this point I had looked after her , and so appreciated the level of the care needed. She has settled well into her new environment, and is well cared for. It was clear from the outset that the resident always comes first,no matter how difficult this might be. And so, I started to worry less and less. This was in sharp contrast to the Hospital, where she spent a miserable three weeks. . There she was left to her own devices , and almost totally ignored. My wife has a nice double aspect room, which is always kept spotless, the food is of good quality, and to ensure that my wife does not feel isolated, she is taken to the lounge for a couple of hours everyday day. This has had a very positive effect.

Jennifer L. Respite. October 2025. I came to Prospect House to recuperate from a total hip replacement as I could not obtain sufficient care at home. I did come to visit the facilities before my operation and found staff helpful and they answered questions fully. When I arrived for respite, the staff were very kind and helpful. They were very polite, and always knocked on my door and waited for my answer. The food was well-cooked, interesting and attractive. They were helpful on pain relief.

As a family, the introduction to Prospect House and subsequent placement couldn't have been better. It will take time for Dad to settle.

Provided full dementia nursing care for my mum for 8 years. Never once had cause to question any aspect of their provision. All staff genuinely care, rather than just doing their job. There is a clear culture here of going above and beyond. All staff seem really happy. If I end up needing nursing care later in life, I will certainly want to stay at Prospect House.

The care my mother has received has been amazing, nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they are really helpful and supportive. When my mum needed to come into the home they were really helpful and made the process very straight forward. My mum is very comfortable and content here.

Prospect House provides a welcoming and friendly atmosphere to both residents and visitors. All the staff treated my wife with kindness and respect at all times while at the same time carrying out their duties to a high professional standard. They retained her dignity right up to the end and I am very grateful to them.

In my opinion, Prospect House is head and shoulders above any other nursing home I have visited. The welcoming greeting from the ladies in reception to the cleaning crew is fabulous. The nursing staff are fabulous and always have time to chat if you have any problems or worries. The chefs cater for varied diets. If there is something on the daily meal you don't fancy they are happy to cook whatever you fancy. The nursing/care assistants are always friendly and polite. Nothing is too much trouble. Overall Prospect House really is a little gem.

I am grateful that my husband is receiving much better care than I am able to provide. However, there does seem to be a problem in looking after his hearing aids. Having said that the staff are efficient, friendly and ready to help. The standard is very good but also really expensive with quite a few hidden costs on top of regular payments.

From the moment my husband, who has Alzheimer's disease, came to Prospect House, I knew he would be in good hands and that has proved to be right. The care and support given to him are excellent and now I have peace of mind knowing that he is well looked after.

Staff are very friendly and very supportive and accommodating with regard to my own disability. The care my husband receives is further hindered due to his own disability which must make things (especially) communication difficult. Despite this staff have overcome this and the care my husband receives is good.

The staff at Prospect Home are kind and caring - the most important part of a care home.

The nursing staff (senior) communicated with me clearly and regularly - as did the visiting GP's occasionally. Compared to all other nursing homes I have visited both professionally and socially I found that standard of care, communication, and organisation to be excellent. I am a senior palliative care nurse myself so was delighted to discover Prospect House looking after my sister.

My 94 year old father was brought to Prospect House from our local hospital. I cannot praise the staff enough kind, caring, lovely people. My father was looked after with the highest respect and dignity. They were also extremely kind to myself and family. I cannot recommend Prospect House highly enough.
