The Prospect House philosophy is that the individual should be at the centre of everything. The home is led by the Home Manager and a band of RGNs and RMNs with many years' experience in caring for the physical health needs of older people.

Dementia care is provided in the Garden Rooms and the Bowling Green Rooms.   Dividing the home into smaller clusters of residents helps to stimulate a sense of familiarity for residents and, for staff, promotes a deeper understanding of residents' needs.

Prospect House aims at excellence and continuous improvement at every turn - from daily activities to catering, from top-notch training to building maintenance.

Transparency and communication are held to be very important and the home is well worth a visit.

In these strange covid times, access was limited to the home, but at no time were we concerned that the dedication, care, expertise and love was not being given to my mother. The communication was first class also. Sadly my mother passed away in October, but we have the peace that she passed away with
dignity and love of your exceptional staff. We cannot express how deeply grateful we are for the care and love given to my mother in the four months that she was with you.

Thank you for the lovely review of our Care home and the positive comments made regarding the care your mother received while she was with us. Even though your mother was only with us for a short time, we are very grateful that we were given the opportunity for your mother to stay with us. It was an honour and a pleasure for us to care for her. We are also grateful to all our wonderful staff for their hard work and dedication while working in these strange Covid times.

During a very difficult period, the care home continued to provide a high standard of living conditions for a group of extremely frail patients. Activities to keep us more ambulant continued through this time and puzzles to keep our brains working.

My Dad is presently at Prospect House is Malpas, having struggled to live independently at home with carers and suffering from dementia. Since moving in he has settled in quickly. The staff is very attentive and caring. He is very happy there. Even putting on weight as the catering is so good. Prospect
House has been an excellent choice for us.

Prospect House is an established nursing home with an excellent reputation for providing quality care. Our choice as we were, and continue to be, impressed by the attention to the little things that make this a real home from home. Friendly and approachable staff and exemplary clinical and nursing care,
together with an inclusive approach to service delivery (residents and relatives are encouraged to contribute and be involved). The result is a happy and safe home for our parent.

I visited the home at the beginning of March to see my Great Aunt and found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The home is like one big family and my great Aunt speaks highly of all the staff. The home has lots of activities going on for all different abilities which is fantastic to see.

After a much-appreciated hip replacement, I went to Prospect House for a four-day convalescence.
I arrived feeling a little helpless and somewhat vulnerable.
The staff were all so kind and thoughtful. I soon felt safe and so well cared for.
When I left, I was feeling much more confident and actually
cheerful.

My father spent three years in Prospect House. The moment we arrived, we loved the lovely atmosphere and friendly welcome from all staff. Father had dementia and thought he was on a cruise. Prospect House became like an extended family. Always two or three staff in the dementia area, plenty of happy
chat with residents included. Always visited with my father's Labrador, Milly, who was much welcomed and loved by all.
Activities, including chair exercises, magnetic darts, art, gardening, singing and the inclusive men's club with lively discussion over a beer. Movie night accompanied by fish and chips, choc ice and wine.
Wonderful staff - loving and caring.
Father was always dressed immaculately in shirt and tie. Constant drinks of tea, coffee, juice smoothies, each individually monitored and measured.
Food with choice, excellent, from award-winning chef.
Magic place. I hope it's still there when I need it!

Thank you so much for your very complimentary review. We pride ourselves on getting it right and ensuring all our residents are treated with the utmost dignity and respect they deserve in a person centred way. It was an absolute pleasure to care for your father, he truly did touch all our hearts.

The ratings I have given as part of this review are self-explanatory reflective of the series of incidents which occurred during my late mother's short stay (from the time when she became a permanent resident to when she was taken into hospital and passed away there). The care home is fully aware of
the issues. No response wanted or required.

Making the decision for a loved one to move into a nursing home can be very difficult. Rest assured, if your relative is fortunate enough to live in Prospect House, you won't regret it.
My mother lived there for nearly five years - they probably extended her life by quite a few years and gave us,
as a family, happy memories we never thought we would have.
The staff made it easier to accept and adapt to Mum's changing health needs.
The team is headed up by a matron who is quite exceptional. Her dedication ensures levels of care and support which are second to none.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.891)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.891) out of 10 for Prospect House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.829 for Prospect House is calculated as follows: ( (59 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.829
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.062 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Prospect House is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 13 = 0.462
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
