Our father stayed at Vale Court Care Home from September 2024 - June 2025. Throughout that time, the staff were always patient, kind and responsive. I cannot fault the care that was provided. The carers also always took time to check if visitors were okay, offering drinks, moving chairs etc. The room
was a good size and always clean. Dad stayed on the dementia unit and the nursing unit. I would have no hesitation in recommending Vale Court.

Our Mother was admitted around Oct 2021as a result of her worsening dementia.
The initial stages of her care at Vale Court were fraught with problems resulting in a meeting with the management to address our concerns.
We agreed a plan to continue the care with assurances that the problems would be
ironed out which they duly were.
(We also noticed a big improvement in overall standards and quality of care which never dropped during Mothers stay.)
I must point out that our high expectations for Mothers care were starting to be realised due to more consistent and dedicated staff being introduced so other concerns were easier to manage.
As Mothers care became more intensive "End of Life", we were comforted with the way that her condition was managed up to her passing in March 2025.
Our thanks as a family go to the management and staff at Vale Court for their dedication and care for all the residents but particularly our Mother.

My mother has been a resident since being admitted in April 2020 during the Covid crisis. It was an incredibly difficult time and yet Vale Court was there when we needed them. I cannot fault the staff that I have met in the last 4 years who have looked after and cared for my mother. I cannot recommend
them higher. Good people.

I'm 90% happy with the care that my Dad receives although there are some grey areas which need addressing. The staff are very caring and respect the residents. My Dad is very happy and content. I can rest easy knowing that he is safe and looked after.

A very friendly and warm welcome is always received when visiting.
The staff are all approachable.
Reassuring that a person-centered, high level of care is given.
Residents' personal safety requirements are met plus safeguarding procedures are in place throughout the home. Have a weekly GP round.
The hairdresser attends weekly.
Activities team will complete one-on-ones so residents can portray what activity they will enjoy.
The Portal which the family can access, is a very useful tool. On the portal family can view, the nutrition received, incontinence needs, participation in activities, and all aspects of daily living tasks given, plus the resident's general well-being is recorded and updated hourly.
We are assured if any deterioration in health we will be contacted by the nursing staff.

My dad was a resident downstairs, and towards the end of his life upstairs, for ten months, I'm sure he wasn't the easiest of chaps to manage but the staff engaged with him and he loved all the attention he received from them. As a family, we were very grateful for the care and consideration shown to
dad and to us. He died very peacefully - just quietly slipping away which was a lovely way to go.

My grandad has been here for near enough two years now. After a few trials at different care homes that weren’t successful, we are so happy to be able to see him happy and thriving. The carers are amazing and have been incredible at keeping in contact throughout the last 18 months. Couldn’t recommend
higher.

I didn't select Vale Court, the hospital sent my Dad there after they could do no more for him. He needed constant pain relief and 24/7 care. How lucky we were that Dad spent the last few months of his life being cared for by such wonderful people. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to get to know
them and to witness first hand, the love, care, compassion and professionalism they all bring to their jobs. The kindness and understanding shown to myself, made a very difficult time so much easier to deal with, right up to the end. I live in Yorkshire and so could only spend part of my time with Dad each week. Thankfully, both the Manager and her team kept me constantly updated on Dad's condition and allowed flexibility when visiting. I couldn't have picked a better place for Dad. Brilliant!

I can not possibly put into enough words how amazing Vale Court Care Home and the staff are. I was initially really worried about how my Nan would cope in care but have been totally overwhelmed with the support she has received since being at Vale Court. The staff know each resident well. They have
many events, games, parties that are organised to keep residents busy which (before the pandemic) we were able to join in with. My nan has a better social life than me. During the pandemic and this difficult time we have been kept up to date with Nans care through personal messages, photos, videos and even zoom calls. I live in Dubai and feel like I am just around the corner from Nan. Thank you so much for everything that you do. I could not recommend this home enough.

I couldn't ask for a better care home for my nan. This staff are outstanding and nothing is ever too much to ask. They provide entertainment and activities for all the residents which keeps them upbeat and happy. From sports days, festivals and pamper days, the staff go above and beyond. Even during
lockdown when I couldn't visit my nan, the staff would arrange Facetime so I could still communicate with my nan. The manager and the team are amazing, by far the best care home around.

When my dad went in, my brother had to leave him there and it was heartbreaking for both of us. The staff were brilliant. Always kept us up to date. Never once told us not to come and see him for the first few days. They have looked after his needs brilliantly, and continue to do so. As a family, we
feel so much better that he can come and go as he pleases inside the home without worrying he is going to try and escape. He gets on well with the staff and is always laughing and joking with them. The staff try to encourage the residents to get involved in activities but don't push them if not interested.
You would not believe the relief we have as a family that he is cared for immensely and looked after like we could not possibly do.
Thank you Vale Court for giving him structure and us a life without day to day worry.

Moving a family member into 24-hours care is such a difficult decision, even more so when you have done it on their behalf.
We visited a few homes before Vale Court, and I’m so glad we chose here! The building is purpose-built, the meal choices are fantastic and most importantly, the staff; they go
above and beyond to ensure the safety, dignity and wellbeing of the residents are adhered to.
A big observation for us as a family was the activity’s; they have a daily activity to suit all needs, which is fantastic to observe. My grandad has nothing but praised Vale Court despite his dementia, he says he is well looked after and happy, what more could you ask for?
Huge thank you to you all, even more so at a difficult time, seeing photos of our family members smiling and having fun is things money can’t buy!
Thank you to each and every one of you.

The home is very clean and welcoming.
Staff go up and beyond, treat everyone with respect. Friendly atmosphere, for their residents and their families and by keeping their families up to date with all activities and events getting them all involved.
During the COVID-19 outbreak, the home has been
on lockdown, sheltering all the residents and staff as much as possible.
I must say I am pleased to say my father has been kept safe and well.
The staff are excellent and should be rewarded and congratulated on such an achievement of making it a safe home for all.

Vale Court is a fantastic care home. My Nan is always comfortable, happy and feeling at home. The staff are absolutely incredible in the way they handle the challenges they face and the way they truly care for the residents. During this extremely tough and unpredictable time, they have gone above and
beyond to make sure we still get to see my Nan via video calls as often as they can while keeping us informed on her wellbeing. Cannot praise them enough.

Mum has only just arrived in the Dementia unit. It was very stressful for mum and the rest of the family but the staff helped us all feel wanted and helped mum immensely they calmed her down and chatted freely about old times, they joined in her conversations and encouraged her to go to prayers which
she loved. Day two and she is settling in nicely and having lots of laughs with all the staff.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.893)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.893) out of 10 for Vale Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.619 for Vale Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (59 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.619
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.274 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Vale Court Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.2 = 0.574
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
