I cannot comment on Food and Drink as I have not been about at nighttime and Activities were not relevant. As the payment was by NHS continuing care, again, I cannot comment. But I am happy to stress - I was delighted by the care and support given by all staff - way about that I have witnessed elsewhere.

My wife was only at Woodlands Care Centre for three months before she died of early-onset Alzheimer's disease.
She was in the last stage of Alzheimer's and everything had to be done for her as she couldn't speak or move.
The staff on the Beeches unit treated her with great care and dignity having to feed, wash and change her.
The carers on the unit were always friendly, helpful and approachable and would accommodate any requests made to make my wife's quality of life the best they could in the short time she had left.

I am greatly indebted to them and highly recommend the home to anyone wanting the best care for their loved ones.

My mother took a little while to settle in (to be expected). She told me many times that she is very happy at Woodlands - rowan area; the reasoning behind it is she gets maximum independence but has help when she needs it. She stated that "no one interferes there if she needs it". I find that all staff are polite, caring and approachable, and include relatives with email etc. Friendly atmosphere and choices are given to all.

The care my wife receives from the staff at Woodlands Care Centre is exceptional. They are patient, sensitive and understanding of her complex needs. Above all, she is treated with dignity. I cannot praise the Woodlands team enough. Putting a loved one into residential care is never going to be easy but woodlands have done everything possible to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Since moving to Woodlands in January 2020 my father’s health has visibly improved. On my recent visit he was very well and looked as well as he did 7 years ago.

I ascribe this to the outstanding care he receives from all the staff at Woodlands.

My sister has been a resident with you since 2013, she passed away recently but the family are so impressed by all the care she has received over many years. The love and respect shown as she slowly deteriorated were the best. We cannot thank all the staff we have met over 7 years and will always be grateful to the home.

Reply from Laura McLeod, Home Manager at Woodlands Care Home

Thank you for allowing us the privilege of caring for your sister for seven years. Your kind words are very much appreciated and have been shared with all the team. Whilst your sister is no longer with us, we will always be here for you should you need us.

When you walk into Woodlands you are met with an immediate sense of warmth that transcends throughout the home. In these uncertain times, the carers and nurses have become extended members of our family who we trust completely. They offer love, laughter and brighten the days of all the residents. Nothing is too much trouble. I am so happy with the support and attention my mother receives. I wouldn't want her to be anywhere else. Thank you all.

My Auntie has been cared for here for 7 years. I live in Australia and I was able to visit in December 2017 - as a nurse, just like my Auntie I am so grateful for the care delivered here. I cannot rate highly enough the care given, the attention to dignity and value placed on a person's life even when they have lost so much to dementia. As she is now in her final days I am choosing to remember the Aunt I remember of my childhood but will forever be grateful to the nurses and carers who have come to know her in recent years and supported her sister, my mum and husband during a difficult time. Thank you from one nurse to you all.

Mum lived on Sycamore unit for 8 years until her death on 8th February 2020. Throughout this time, staff treated Mum with absolute dignity and respect. It was clear that staff cared about her, respected her wishes and her Christian faith. Her final days were made easier by the sensitive responses to the family by staff. I cannot recommend highly enough the skill, care and consideration given to my mum over many years.

From the initial viewing of Woodlands to the first few days that mum arrived, we have all been made to feel very welcome. The staff have been very friendly and nothing so far has been too much trouble. There is always someone to ask if we have a query and mum seems to have settled in well. We have been able to personalise mum's room the day before she arrived which ensured she felt the room was familiar to her.

We came to visit last week as our father moved in as a resident on 20th January 2020.
We are delighted with the service and level of care shown to ourselves and Dad. The domestic has been so friendly, caring and thorough. Two members of staff on The Oaks have been diamonds and put our minds at rest.
Dad is always doing things for the staff e.g catering properly that he would not do at home. It is always a worrying and sad time but made much easier by the warmth, professionalism and caring manner of all the staff.

A huge thank you.

I have been very impressed with the home in the short time in which my father has been a resident. The staff have been friendly and welcoming and have shown that their primary objective is the wellbeing of the residents. Rooms and facilities are good. My only concern has been the fact that some items of clothing (socks and underwear) have gone to the laundry but not come back. That said I can understand that this is difficult to manage. Overall very satisfied.

The level of knowledge and support from the manager, admin staff, activities coordinator and chaplain has been most unexpected, with all members of the team being aware of my dad's health and needs. The nurses are superb and the care assistants work very hard too. We couldn't have asked for a better place.

I think that the care provided is still of a decent nature but has deteriorated over the last 2 years with far too much reliance having placed on agency staff. The regular staff are excellent but some of the agency ones are not up to the standard required, in my opinion. Also, the continual change of the manager does not help, as continuity is required, not so much chopping and changing.

A greater level/frequency of "entertianment" would benefit the residents of Sycamore.

All clients, irrespective of their ability to interact, would appreciate music and simple craftwork with help. From cd's/singing/ to percussion instruments.

I have found the home to be an extremely friendly place. Everyone speaks from the clerical staff to the cleaners and all visitors are warmly welcomed.

My only concern is that on occasions, staffing levels seem rather down, especially on the unit I am concerned with and residents become more agitated when staff that they aren't familiar with, are in attendance. Overall though, Woodlands is doing a good job.

When we visit our friend always appears well cared for, smartly dressed and looks comfortable. She is always treated with the utmost dignity and respect by all the staff we meet.

Since her care at Woodlands care Centre her condition is well stabilised she has put on weight and her confidence in her limited abilities has improved. Congratulations to all the staff.
