Woodlands Care Home

From the moment Woodlands had a vacancy this went very smoothly as this took the pressure off us. First few weeks excellent start.

The level of knowledge and support from the manager, admin staff, activities coordinator and chaplain has been most unexpected, with all members of the team being aware of my dad's health and needs. The nurses are superb and the care assistants work very hard too. We couldn't have asked for a better place.

I think that the care provided is still of a decent nature but has deteriorated over the last 2 years with far too much reliance having placed on agency staff. The regular staff are excellent but some of the agency ones are not up to the standard required, in my opinion. Also, the continual change of the manager does not help, as continuity is required, not so much chopping and changing.

All clients, irrespective of their ability to interact, would appreciate music and simple craftwork with help. From cd's/singing/ to percussion instruments.

My only concern is that on occasions, staffing levels seem rather down, especially on the unit I am concerned with and residents become more agitated when staff that they aren't familiar with, are in attendance. Overall though, Woodlands is doing a good job.

Since her care at Woodlands care Centre her condition is well stabilised she has put on weight and her confidence in her limited abilities has improved. Congratulations to all the staff.

Standard and quality of this home is very high. Staff are extremely caring and make my wife feel welcome and very secure. Good ambience created by good management and knowledge of dementia.

Frequent use of agency staff, unfamiliarity can be an issue.

Upon admission, in February 2019 Woodlands welcomed my Mum like one of the family and this welcome was extended to all relatives and friends. All staff, from managers to carers to activities coordinators know the residents well and treat them as individuals and with dignity. The care shines through and gives me confidence that Mum is safe in this environment. I would highly recommend this care home (and frequently do so!).

The activities are arranged every weekday and although she does not join in every time. The fact that many others do show a good caring home.

There is one carer in the dining room and when my husband, who is in a wheelchair, finishes his breakfast we have to wait sometimes quite a while for someone to take him to the toilet. I do feel they are understaffed at that time in the morning. This to me can be quite distressing.

The attention to residents dignity, food preferences and cleanliness (both household and laundry) has been amazing.

In our opinion, Woodlands is by far the best care home in the area. The staff are excellent and very caring. The food is always a good standard the music therapy on a Thursday had been very well received.

My husband was welcomed onto Beeches Unit in early December 2017. He died peacefully during his sleep on 1 March 2019. He was always treated with love, care and dignity by all the nursing staff. All our family was made welcome on every visit - we became part of the Woodland's Christian family. We could not have wished for a more caring and compassionate environment for our loved one. Friendships were forged between carers and the whole family. We cannot speak too highly of the way in which his quality of life was maintained until the end. All our friends commented on the loving and caring environment within Woodlands, which is a credit to both nursing staff and management.

My Mother received excellent care during her stay at Woodlands. Her Dementia was quite advanced and the team were always sensitive to her needs. There were sometimes not enough carers around and they had minimal time to sit with Mum. Sadly the food also could have been better. Sandwiches are an easy option overused.

I would definitely recommend Woodlands Care Centre. It is a very special place with very special staff who showed love and understanding to my mother. Always treating her with dignity, consideration and much kindness. This extended to myself and my family too. I can never thank them all enough.

Woodlands is a warm, clean, welcoming and caring environment. The staff clearly care for the residents and the care and consideration they provide seems exemplary.

My mother always appears well cared for and happy. I can't ask for more. The staff are always interested in their clients and the clients' relatives.

My Mother was accepted as a resident on November 2nd, 2017. She had been in hospital after largely being independent. She died on 17th April 2018 but Woodlands was a comfortable, caring and homely place for her to spend the last 6 months of her life. She became increasingly dependant on the love and care of nursing staff and carers. The staff were professional but also became friends. They always took the necessary time to be with her and see to her various needs. We can not speak too highly of the way in which they maintained her quality of life, until the end.
