  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.517 for The Grange Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (63 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 87 Ratings = 4.517

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 24 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 48 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews; 3.00 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 24 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 48 months. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Grange Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3.00 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 8 positive Reviews (40 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 7 Reviews ÷ 8 Target = 0.875

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Our mother suffered a major stroke at the end of January 2018. As a result, she lost her ability to speak and move her right arm and leg.

After three months of acute and rehabilitative care, she was moved to The Grange on a 'Recovery Placement'. From the outset, we were made to feel very welcome and were impressed by the high standard of not just the facilities, but also the quality and dependability of the care provided.

At the end of the placement, we were confident that The Grange was able to offer mum a safe, nurturing environment in which to continue her recovery.

As we have gotten to know the home over the past few months, we have been very impressed indeed with the efforts all the staff have made to improve mum's quality of life, despite the considerable challenges of looking after someone who cannot communicate effectively.

They really do care and it is so reassuring to be able to say that.

Both my parents are resident at The Grange, they have very different needs but are both treated with care, compassion and good humour. The staff are friendly and supportive and provide a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The activities are excellent and provide a stimulating environment for both my parents.

My mother has been in The Grange for 2 years and have found the staff to be friendly and attentive to my mother's needs. Some of the staff will go the 'extra mile' to meet his needs.

My Mother was a resident of the Grange for over 9 years. Initially, she was a very active person and the staff always allowed her to be herself. For the last four years, she has been confined, mainly, to her bedroom due to her very poor state of health. The care and attention was excellent and without fault. It was also given on a very personal basis with a close bond between my Mother and the carers. It was the staff at The Grange which made so much difference to my Mothers last few years.

Thank you for taking the time to review us, it is great to hear that you highly recommend our home. We can see from the review there are some areas in which you feel we could improve upon. As always, our home manager has an open door policy and would be happy to discuss these in more detail at your earliest convenience.

My husband came to The Grange Care Home on many occasions for respite when it became necessary for him to go into a nursing home and I didn't hesitate. The Grange Care Home was the one for us, the care, kindness and support given is outstanding. The Grange staff are polite courteous and very kind. They not only look after my husband but also the family. They are simply the best.
