Hope House is a purpose-built nursing home in Clayton Le Moors, Accrington. Situated opposite Mercer Hall Park, the home is just a stone’s throw from local shops and facilities. Residents generally require residential or nursing care.

Hope House has a total of 38 tastefully decorated bedrooms, many of which are ensuite. The homely environment includes a conservatory which residents use as a quiet lounge, two comfortable TV lounges - one on the ground floor and the other on the first floor plus, a spacious ground floor dining room. There is also a landscaped rear patio garden which is fully accessible.

The team at Hope House are passionate about delivering the very best of person-centred care. They gather details and information from those who know the resident best. They communicate with families on a regular basis to ensure that care plans are up to date, and the important finer details are recorded to reflect personal wishes.

All residents are welcome to join in with the resident programme of activities or are supported to enjoy pastimes of their own choice. Of course, birthdays are celebrated as well as other special days in the year, as well as coffee mornings, afternoon tea and active, planned social activity sessions.
Residents' friends and family members are welcome at any time and are welcome to join in the activities of the home.

Everyone at Hope House is respected as an individual and therefore the team understand that everyone’s needs, and preferences are different.

The Head Chef prepares three nutritious meals a day and the menu changes regularly to reflect seasonal produce. Food is a big part of everyday life at Hope House, from the cooked breakfast that is offered, to the choice of meals at lunchtime and a teatime, with the snacks in between and supper.

My family member recently came into Hope House and the care he is receiving is outstanding, we are so glad that he has come to hope house as he has been treated with dignity and respect. Prior to him being admitted to Hope House, we contacted them as we were unsure of what to do, the team was so helpful
and helped us all along the way helping the process to be less stressful. The management team have been amazing and we would just like to thank the Hope House team for their care and support at this time for my cousin.

I would just like to say how wonderful the staff who cared for my father were as he approached the end of his life, while at Hope House. He was able to enjoy entertainment, as we have many happy memories of him doing this. He put weight on while being cared for at Hope House. We appreciated how many
staff came to show their respects at my dad's funeral. Thank you!

From the first time, my dad was in Hope House, he was cared for really well. The staff were kind and caring and looked after Dad really well. It was lovely to see so many staff from the care home attend Dad's funeral. This really touched me and my family.

Hope House has made our Mum very happy. She loves the staff and they are very good with her. She loves the staff and they are very good with her. She loves going out on day trips and enjoys the activities, it has changed her life for the better and it gives us peace of mind that she has 24/7 care.

My relative received excellent rehabilitation care at Hope House whilst recovering from a fall. The staff supported their independence and genuinely cared about them. My relative arrived at the home extremely poorly from hospital and the Managers were 'straight on' sorting issues such as a temporary
GP to get a much-needed prescription. I am very grateful for the care and attention they received and would thoroughly recommend this home.

I can't begin to speak of the team at Hope house without mentioning the management individuals, they are excellent. My relative received care that was compassionate, kind, gentle and most of all, professional. I am a retired registered nurse and I would recommend the staff including nursing, admin,
cooks and cleaners. I cannot thank them enough for the peace of mind I had during my relative's short stay.

The level of care my mother has received over the last twelve years at Hope House has been second to none. The staff are loving and caring and will bend over backwards to cater for all the residents wants and needs. In 2010 I took my mother out of a different care home because the standard of care was
abysmal and put her in Hope House. When we arrived she was warmly greeted by the manager and the staff and this was the first time I saw her smile since she had her stroke. She has been laughing and smiling ever since. I can only say a sincere thank you to the management and all the staff.

My mum was a resident at Hope House for two years. She has received excellent care from a dedicated team of staff who became her family during the lockdowns.
I have been particularly pleased with the cleanliness of the home and the personal care given to my Mum.
The warmth of all the staff during
Mums last days was comforting for the family.

My mother was a resident at Hope House until her passing on 5th July this year. She was always in the best place for the care she required. Management and staff in fact everybody was good with mum and she was very well looked after. There were some special people for mum at Hope House but my thanks
go to everyone for taking care of her whilst she was a resident. The special things are done for mum - taking her to visit her sick niece and to the eventual funeral of her niece will never be forgotten. The day of her 100th birthday was, considering visiting rules, a lovely occasion, and the cake, candles, and singing of Happy Birthday by staff was really wonderful for mum. That short piece of video will be with myself and my sister forever so thank you. She treasured her card from the Queen. Thank you for the bingo, my mum's favourite and most successful, and outings in the early days. Thank you for attending her funeral and just thank you again

Couldn't have found a better home for my Gran. Lovely friendly and helpful staff who appear to love the job they do. Get the feeling they almost love my gran as much as I do.
Very clean environment and the homely home I've ever visited that smells nice too. They go out of their way to try and help
in this awful Covid situation.
So thankful to God for all of them and I really mean that.

Thank you all so much for looking after my mum. She thoroughly enjoyed her stay and looks forward to visiting again. The home has a lovely atmosphere and it is nice and warm. Mum also had some really enjoyable meals. My mum was made to feel welcome as soon as she arrived. She was given a lovely room,
nice and bright, and signage was in place to advise staff of my mum's specific mobility and transfer isuses. The manager and staff were very friendly, and treated my mum with kindness and respect throughout her stay. The home had been trimmed up for Valentines Day, which made it look really special, and Mum enjoyed the Valentines Day entertainment. Staff had really made an event. Overall, I felt extremely comfortable leaving my mum in the care of Hope House whilst I went on holiday. I was most impressed, as were some of my mum's friends who visited her. Kind regards and a big 'thank you'.

My father was a previous resident at Hope House and I have to say he was most welcomed. The manager showed me around the home when I first went to look and I must say she was very polite and reassuring that my father would be looked after. The staff that are employed, show a very caring and professional
way toward the residents. They included my father in all activities that he could do and he really enjoyed the days out they organised. I would recommend Hope House for anyone who’s looking for a nice, clean residential home with caring staff. I would personally like to thank all the staff for looking after my dad while he was there. I will never forget you all.

Hope House is the best example of what a care home should be and should be graded outstanding. It is well managed, spotlessly clean and good food. Staff to patient ratio is excellent, with caring staff who have dignity and respect for the resident. This is a happy home, with support and understanding
for the family. Thank you Hope House - keep up your standards, you have a special home.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.247)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.247) out of 10 for Hope House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.495 for Hope House is calculated as follows: ( (89 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (12 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.495
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.752 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hope House is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.4 = 0.952
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
