For what turned out to be a short period of time, I can't thank the staff of this care home enough. The kindness and love shown to my dad were a joy to see. For the last month of his life, I became his daughter again, not just his carer. Having made the very difficult decision to place dad in nursing/residential care, we were made to feel so welcome from the moment we first entered the home. How lovely that we had a couple of special moments with dad; a fish and chip dinner laid out with a full tea set, afternoon tea which my brother was able to join in with. So lovely. I will always be so grateful for the care and attention given to my mum when I realised she was suffering from another TIA, with the home being close by to where we were, the nurses reacted so swiftly and with such kindness. Every member of staff who helped care for my dad was in my thoughts at his funeral. I can't thank you enough.

My uncle spend his last nine months in the care of the Manager and her team, and the care and respect he received were always above and beyond. So when it came to my aunt, there was only one place I would place the care of my dear aunty, and that is with the same team.

5 stars in every respect, keep up the great work to the Manager and her team.

Many thanks to all your dedicated staff for the care and attention received prior to his death on Monday. He gained weight and his mental and physical health came on in leaps and bounds by the kindness of everyone involved. On my last visit, another regular visitor made the comment that we were becoming a 'supportive family' and that interaction made a huge difference to his quality of life. Thank you so much.

Due to a tragic change of circumstances, I find myself submitting a second review. After approx two years at Longton my wife suffered a rapid decline in her condition and I got to experience Longton's End of Life Care at first-hand. All I can say is that the Manager and all of the team treated me, my family and my wife with the utmost care, compassion and consideration. I have lost count of how many cups of coffee, biscuits, sandwiches or lunches I was offered during her final days. My family and I were all allowed unlimited, unrestricted visiting and my wife was able to spend her final days and hours in peace, surrounded by all of her immediate family. Every single member of staff that I encountered treated me, my wife and my family with total dignity and respect, regardless of their role or grade. Even staff members that I didn't immediately recognise knew my first name and used it in a respectful fashion. My wife could not possibly have been anywhere better. Thank You.

Mum came into your care from the stroke unit, it was unlikely she would ever go home. With your care and patience, Mum is walking, talking and eating. With your help, we have taken her home to her new bungalow. You have kept her safe during the pandemic. You enabled her to go home - her greatest wish. The family are forever grateful.

We know when Dad first arrived at the home, both he and us struggled with a new routine and environment. However, he was very quickly made to feel at home which helped us massively whilst we cared for our mum before she died. During lockdown, the circumstances were difficult for everyone; especially when Dad was used to visitors every day. However, the staff worked tirelessly. The care and attention given to our dad in the last few days of his life we will be eternally grateful for knowing he wasn't alone and being comforted with prayers at the end gives us solace too. An amazing home, with amazing staff.

Felt reassured by the staff that the parent was given the best care and attention. Felt comfortable with staff to talk through my issues or worries. Loving, friendly chats and encouragement with the parent. Comfortable lounge, dining room and relaxing outdoor areas. Felt staff wanted to really know and care for the parent. Very reassuring for the parent.

Longton Nursing Home has a real home from home environment. It was a big decision for our mum to go into a home but the staff have been fantastic.
The home is always immaculate and there is a warm and friendly atmosphere and nothing is too much trouble.

We are, as a family, grateful for such caring staff looking after mum. Knowing she is safe is a big thing for us and we get feedback from staff who genuinely care for her. Thank you.

My elderly father was recovering from a stay in the hospital, during which he learnt he had cancer. Whilst it is true that he would have preferred to go straight home, he was in no fit state, and so the nursing home was able to provide a double room for my Dad and my Mum (who has early dementia) to stay in over the Christmas/New year period (two weeks). The Home arranged for the transfer of my Dad's medical care and the administering of his medication.
I had complete access at all times, although I respected the staff's need to provide care, and mealtime, activities and the atmosphere was always relaxed and caring.
Throughout his stay, my Dad was treated with great respect and care. The food was very good, and my Mum couldn't fault the food, staff or cleanliness. He wrote several poems for the staff and residents about his experiences as a thank you.

I can say with certainty, that my Dad benefited greatly from his stay and he has returned home much better, which his doctor commented on.

My father spent the last few weeks of his life at Longton Nursing and Residential Home, having transferred from another Care Home. The care he was given was excellent, until his final week he was always clean and well presented. In his final week, the staff ensured he was clean and comfortable and treated with dignity. When I visited, the staff all made an effort to be friendly and approachable, even though they were obviously very busy. Everyone demonstrated that they cared for the residents, even sending a representative to his funeral.

I feel that the Longton Care and Nursing Home is very well run. The seniors are all very well qualified and the home is run is a disciplined and cheerful manner. Cleanliness is given a high priority and as an ex-chief safety officer with multinational companies, I appreciate the vital importance of good procedures. When my wife and I (she is now deceased) arrived over 2 years ago, good procedures were produced within 2 days of arrival.

In the past 2 years, there have been price rises which are difficult to manage for some people. While these are related to wages and other factors, people like me who are retired on pensions which do not rise significantly, see their life savings diminish. I think there should be a government body to oversee this aspect of care with reps from care homes, public and government.

Dad came here seven months ago and was well cared for right up until the end last week. Over the months he built up a rapport with staff who were equally attentive when he was less able to communicate in the latter stages of his complex illness. The manager and the team worked wonders for his mental and physical well-being and we are eternally grateful for that.
Equally important for me, however, was the fact that my mum took much solace knowing that my dad was in safe, qualified and caring hands. She'll certainly miss the staff and their amazing support. Knowing that Dad was receiving such good care gave my mum the confidence and courage to continue her own social life as fully as possible without any guilt or worry. This was priceless.
My only regret is that I wasn't able to persuade Dad to take up a place at Longton Nursing Home sooner, because both his and my mum's quality of life improved once he took up residence.

A massive thank you to all from myself and the extended family.

After transferring my husband on the 23rd July 2018 from a previous home to Longton Nursing and Residential Home, my husband feels now completely safe and stress-free. I find the care home is very friendly, competent, caring and helpful. There is also a lot of interaction between staff and residents and they will go the extra mile to ensure all my husband's needs are fulfilled.

Wonderful place and highly recommended. The staff and residents are very welcoming, helpful and always have a smile on their faces. Made my grandmothers time there special with not only love and care but activities she loved and real desire to get to know her. The facilities are great, rooms big enough, and food was good and had a range for different tastes. The outdoor area is beautiful and adds to the homely feel of the place. Staff are brilliant, so kind and helpful. Great care home.

From the minute we visited to look around, the feeling of this is a "home from home" was felt. The care, compassion, love and understanding given and shown has been outstanding.
Our mother was treated like she was the most important person to them and as a family, we were kept continuously informed of all aspects, visits and concerns regarding her care and health as commented on by other visitors of other residents, we all felt the same attention was given to our relatives by all staff.
Family and friends were all shown a very big welcome and felt visiting was made a pleasurable experience and the hospitality from very staff was always in evidence.
We found all staff to be friendly, extremely polite, very informed and professional. A truly wonderful home filled the love that made mum's last days of her life a time to be a treasured memory.

A very big, heartfelt thank you to Longton Nursing Home and the staff who work there.

My Grandmother has been living at Longton Nursing Home since 2015.

She is a vegetarian and her dietary needs are met by the home, always varied meals. The care assistants are very hard working but always have time for a chat and make grandma feel right at home. She loves taking part in the activities and even has me playing along with dominoes or bingo! There are always charity events happening and fundraising for charities.

Longton is a beautiful clean care home I would strongly recommend to others

My mother in law was accepted into Longton nursing and residential home in March 2015,she had recently lost her husband to cancer and she suffers from progressive dementia, she still believes she can do everything for herself but the harsh reality is she can't as her couple of falls and hospital admissions prior to her move to Longton proved.

She is now in a secure, safe and comfortable environment where she receives good hot food, has a very nice warm room and has her medicine administered in a proper manner. There are large lounges where she can sit and interact with others, there are social activities on a daily basis where anyone can participate.

The staff are exceptional at all levels, the Matron is very hands on assisting in handing out meals etc and even the cleaners could easily mistaken for carers such is their enthusiasm and eagerness to help with a friendly word and chat when necessary, The carers themselves work professionally and are always alert, I know all this as I take a keen interest in the care she receives. My wife and I visit a minimum of three times a week at varying times so we see at first hand the overall picture, this is a very open, friendly and homely place which does not deserve the criticism that is sometimes thrown their way by office workers. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone.
