My mother has been in Alston View Nursing home since September 2024. The staff treat her with respect and dignity. I have noticed the continuing improvements they have been making with my mum's care over the past few months. While she is unable to walk, they ensure she gets out of bed nearly every
day to have a change of scenery and chat with the other residents. The staff they have are lovely, knowledgeable, caring and helpful at every level. They always positively interact with my mum, and nearly every time I visit, I get an update on how she is doing. The room is clean, tidy and meets her needs. The food is excellent with lots of variety. I can also take my dog along with me when I visit her, which is a lovely thing they allow me to do.

I have been super impressed by the care here at Alston View, the new manager in post has really put her mark on this place, the turn around these last few weeks has been really noticeable.

Residents are treated with the utmost dignity and respect, nothing is too much trouble and the team here are

proactive passionate and engaging. Although super busy they always have time for their residents and their families. What a lovely warm and welcoming environment!

I am confident in my mothers comprehensive care plan and can rest assured that she is receiving the best possible care.

My aunt became a resident after leaving hospital in early May. She left hospital with a high level of care and nursing needs and these needs were very well met by the manager and her team at Longton Nursing Home. From the start of looking for a place for my aunt, the discussions with the manager about
their facilities and nursing principles were very helpful, clear and impressive, which made sending my aunt there an easy decision. Once my aunt was there, she and I found all the staff very attentive, communicative and enthusiastic to help. They were always keen to ensure my aunt and her visitors knew what care she was receiving and ask if there was anything else she needed. My aunt's condition was regularly relayed to me as next of kin, together with suggestions from both the nursing staff and doctors' visits to improve her care plan. I have no hesitation in recommending Longton Nursing Home to potential residents and their families.

My dad began residing in this Care home back in September 2024 following a hospital discharge. He has Alzheimer's which is a horrid disease and really erodes a person's life. However despite that he has an extremely happy life in Eliot House where he is really looked after and cared for by the most
amazing staff. He loves joining in with the variety of singing opportunities that's provided. He's really enjoying the Petting Zoo and has met quite a few different animals. He is always treated with respect and dignity by all the staff. The manager expects high standards and high standards are delivered and maintained throughout every area of this setting. The staff at this care home genuinely want to care for people and I really can't thank them enough for the warm welcome they always give us when we visit. From the bottom of my heart thank you so much for looking after my dad so well.

We moved my mum into the home a couple of weeks ago now. The manager's assessment and admission process was professional, friendly and really helped to put our minds at rest. Without exception, the staff team have been excellent - kind, caring and very considerate in everything they have done. Mum took
a few days to settle in but the team was able to support her through her anxieties and they communicated with us at all times. As a former CEO of a healthcare company I like to think that I've got high expectations for all types of care and most certainly for my mum's. I've not been disappointed at all. Mum particularly benefits from having people around her at all times and from having activities that take place throughout the day. The home has two excellent activity coordinators who help people to get involved and really feel a part of their home. I'd highly recommend the home to anyone who may be looking for 24hr residential and / or nursing care and support. Thank you to everyone.

I am always full of praise for all the exceptional care, concern and kindness which everyone at Eliot House gives to my mum and to my family. They go out of their way to help and make every day a special day for mum and the other residents. I am always humbled by their attention to detail, their genuine
care and thoughtfulness and very much appreciate how mum is cared for. Every event, however small, is always celebrated and made special to provide happy memories for relatives and the knowledge that my mum has enjoyed the celebration even though she will not have the same memory of it that I and my family will keep.
The Eliot House family put such effort into these special occasions and I am so grateful for all the time, trouble and care that goes into making them special and memorable. Thank you everyone for everything that you do, you are all very special and very much appreciated. There are not enough stars in the ratings to praise you highly enough!

I can't express the gratitude I have for all the staff at Longton Nursing Home. My Mum was admitted in early October for palliative care. All the staff went out of their way to make her as comfortable as possible in what was her final home. The questions I asked were answered immediately and any requests
were dealt with promptly and professionally. My life was made easier knowing the wonderful care and attention Mum was receiving. I had access to see Mum 24/7 and was made to feel welcome by all when I visited. Thank you, to your team.
Forever grateful.

Massive thank you to all staff at Eliot House, we cannot thank you enough. Mum spent over 6 years being cared for at Eliot House Nursing Home, passing away peacefully this January 2025. Mum was always treated with respect, kindness, her needs anticipated and supported above and beyond that we could
have hoped for.

The Manager and all the staff are a wonderful caring team, and I came to regard them as friends, or part of the family. Mum's room always looked immaculate, and her clothes clean and tidy, thank you to all the team that took such care with this important aspect, we really did appreciate this.

Thank you for your wonderful care during these 6 years, especially during the difficult pandemic time, we know that you kept mum happy and safe, I am so thankful for the many video calls that you were always happy to facilitate and which gave me peace of mind. The care extended to the very sensitive way mum, and my sister and I were treated in mum's final peaceful time.

Our mum/mother-in-law spent her final 6 months at Longton. We were very nervous about her being in such an environment as she had come from a very brief stay at a nearby home which just wasn't suitable. From day 1 we were at ease, the staff were friendly, caring and helpful. We finally felt like we
could breathe and the stress of looking after Mum and dealing with her decline vanished. Mum passed away relatively quickly, however, the care and compassion shown by the staff, from the care staff who simply came to make her comfortable and change her position, to the nursing staff who always made sure we were also ok was second to none. We can't thank you enough for everything you did for Mum, as the saying goes ' kindness costs nothing' Mum was the kindest person ever, so it fits she ended her days here.

Thank you will never be enough. I could have searched the world, to find a home for my grandmother, that provided the care and love she deserved. If I had hand picked the carers and nurses myself, I would be picking the exact team that took so special care of her. Her care and happiness was my one priority,
and they delivered that tenfold. It takes a special kind of person to even be a carer, and it takes a super talented manager to pull all that together. My heart is broken now, but Eliot House made this one very happy, unforgettable journey. A journey I wouldn't change and will treasure forever. You are all in my heart. Thank you!

Sadly, my mother died a few days ago. She'd been resident at Eliot House for some time and in those years had been looked after very well. The care at the house is very attentive in spite of all the challenges that the less well residents present. It's well managed - food is good, activities are stimulating
and access is never a problem. It's never easy to come to terms with the idea that a parent has care needs that one can't fulfil oneself. Caring is a skilled profession and one that is much under-rated until you see it practised well. I'm very grateful to the staff at Eliot House. My mothers last few weeks were no cakewalk - they would have been far, far worse without the care she received.

Do not let any relative of yours stay here even temporarily.
My dad went in for respite care while his wife underwent an operation. During this time he went rapidly downhill.
His room smelt of urine. Staff were not brushing his teeth. He had a urine infection which was left until he needed hospitalisation.
Following
this I spoke to the manager voicing my concerns which I was told would be addressed. I was informed a district nurse had dressed some 'dead skin' on his foot. A week later I was told my dad had had a fall whilst they put him to bed the night before. The following morning they rang an ambulance as it was a suspected broken foot.
Once there we were told that he would have to have his leg amputated above the knee due to it being completely dead!
Due to my dad's age and his now fragility, this was not undertaken and we have been told he has a few days before he dies.

Reply from Chris Harpham, Quality and Compliance Manager at Alston View Nursing & Residential Home

Thank you for taking the time to bring this to our attention. We are obviously disappointed that you have had a negative experience. We take all feedback very seriously. We are sorry to hear about your experience. As there were multiple internal and external health professionals involved within the direct care provided. We are more than happy to discuss the concerns with you and outline the involvements of local authorities and agencies involved in the complexity of this case, and the manager at Alston View will reach out privately to do so. Unfortunately, there are times when a person's rapid needs change and they can no longer be safely cared for in a particular setting, despite all efforts. Please rest assured that your comments have been passed on to Senior Management. Again, I can only apologise for your experience and strive to move forward. Once again, we are very sorry that you feel the experience did not meet your expectations.

I didn't choose this home for my mum. Due to her needs we needed to find her somewhere quickly. The reviews online were just OK. I have been pleasantly surprised. The home is lovely, Mum is always clean and she always has someone around her to help calm her when she is upset. The staff are lovely, helpful
and knowledgeable. They are kind and patient with my mum. My mum has settled really well and is happy there. There is entertainment for the residents, a large communal lounge with two tellies and plenty going on. Food is also good quality and plenty to go around if more requested. I am so happy with the home. It takes a load off my mind knowing she is happy and being looked after.
