I am so pleased that my mum is a resident at The Old Rectory. It is immaculate throughout, in a quiet and peaceful setting. The staff go above and beyond to help with anything and everything. It just feels right that mum will spend her twilight days here and gives me peace of mind that she is well cared for.

We reside in Portugal and Mum is a resident in the care home. The communication during Covid, keeping us updated etc has been excellent. We can't fault the establishment and Mum is very safe, secure and most importantly, happy.

This wonderful care home has gone beyond expectations since my mum joined them 2 years ago. Up till Covid, it welcomed us all inside to join in their big family with all sorts of organised events which we all enjoyed (never a dull moment) at The Old Rectory. Then Covid struck! It has been amazing how they have coped and with dedicated staff are getting through these troubled times.

They have organised window visits (phones on each side), FaceTime calls and recently garden visits. The work they put into garden visits was an absolute credit to them. The PPE in place for us and the wonderfully equipped marquee to visit in was just fantastic and to see mum in person for the first time since March was very emotional. Mum 96 is so looked after by the dedicated staff she looked lovely even down to her nails which she loves being painted. The incredible staff have made such sacrifices with their home life to keep everyone safe; it’s been humbling. I can’t thank them enough.

This year has been exceptionally difficult for the residents, staff and families due to covid-19. The decision to close the home to visitors early in March was the right choice to protect everyone there, even though it was heartbreaking not being able to spend time there. Staff went above and beyond to minimise the risk of bringing covid into the home. Obviously normal activities had to stop, which was worrying, but a plan was put in place immediately to arrange face-to-face calls and over the months with easing of restrictions, garden visits were arranged in heated tents with full protection and microphones. Window visits using the microphones has been absolutely amazing. Still difficult though, because your loved one doesn’t understand why you can’t come inside. I know that the staff have done their utmost in these very challenging times and with all the other measures put in place that has helped to deal with the pain of not being able to hug and spend proper time with my Mum.

My mother has been in this care home for three years now, I must admit at first it was hard sending a loved one to a home, but now three years on it was the best decision. Everyone at The Old Rectory has been amazing, the care and personal help has been great, even more so since March and the Covid restriction. The home has been amazing, providing socially distanced entertainment for events such as VE Day and providing the ability to have video calls with Mum on a regular basis, allowing us to see Mum still during these difficult times. I’d 100% recommend The Old Rectory.

The Old Rectory should be praised for how well they have looked after the residents through this extremely difficult time during the pandemic. They have kept everybody's loved ones safe and well. With not being able to visit in person, the weekly FaceTime calls have been brilliant and enabled us to laugh together. Well done and thank you.

The Old Rectory cared so well for my Mother in the last year of her life that when my 94-year-old Father could no longer manage living at home he didn't hesitate to move into this wonderful place. He had bladder cancer and the staff here looked after him with so much compassion, kindness and dignity during this last stage of his life. My Father was fiercely independent but my family and I could see his relief when he moved into this lovely, cosy care home and let them look after him. The staff all remembered him from when he used to visit my Mother and they all made him feel so welcome and missed. It gives me great comfort to know how well cared for and happy my Dad was during the final months of his life.

We were anxious when we moved my mother into The Old Rectory as we had fought to keep her independent in her own home for as long as possible, but in the end, it just wasn't feasible. Since her move, we have been totally impressed by the caring nature of the staff and the proactive way they manage to accommodate the needs and wants of their residents. Although the move was challenging at the start for all of us, we have been guided along the way and have always felt supported as a family.
Mum now sees this as her home and she is reaping the rewards of the great care she is being given, as are we all. She is happy, has formed some lovely friendships with both staff and other residents and we are seeing her as she was a few years ago. She clearly now sees The Old Rectory as her home and her recent comment of "You're never lonely here" is worth its weight in gold for us.

I can't recommend this place highly enough and will always be grateful to the staff for their patience and care with mum.

My mum came to live at The Old Rectory in August of 2017. She settled in very quickly to the routine and fell in love with all the staff. Mum was called "Mother Hen" by most of the staff as she wanted to look after them, rather than the other way around. I must agree with my mum that the staff "are amazing" and nothing was too much trouble for them.

Even the cleaners and kitchen staff always found the time for a chat. Sadly my mum passed away in December 2018. The tears shed from the staff were a true testament that they do care for all at The Old Rectory, they have good hearts and mum was blessed to be in such a great place.

My Mother has been here for many years, she would not be alive today if it wasn't for the exceptional care she receives here. She is allowed to make her own choices in where she sits, what she eats, what she wears etc, even if she can't remember what she has said. I cannot speak too highly of this nursing home.

My Mother has been a resident at The Old Rectory Nursing Home for the last 18 months.

The Old Rectory Nursing Home is Family Run and we have found the Staff always friendly and approachable.

Recently, I had to raise a concern and this was dealt with quickly and efficiently and to our satisfaction.

My sister and I came to look at The Rectory as a possible permanent home for Mum. As soon as we walked through the door we knew this was where we wanted Mum to be. It felt warm and homely, unlike others we had visited, and all the staff were so welcoming. This has continued since day one and every time we visit the staff are so friendly and reassuring. All concerned go that 'extra mile' and occasions such as birthdays, Christmas, Mothers Day etc are celebrated in style.

Sadly Mum has started to deteriorate and is now receiving end of life care. This has really shown how dedicated and compassionate the staff are. We have full confidence that Mum is getting the best possible care and also we are getting the support as well at a very difficult time. Nothing is too much trouble and we have been able to discuss any fears or concerns we've had as regards to Mum's final journey in life.

We cannot express our thanks enough to all the lovely staff who have become Mum's second family.

Towards the end of 2018, my siblings and I needed to find a nursing home for our mother and were really fortunate to find the Old Rectory at Grappenhall and luckily within a short space of time a room became available for her. From day one the care she has received has been second to none from all the staff and we can rest knowing she is being very well looked after. Unfortunately she is now on end of life care but the emotional and practical support we have received and again mums care has been brilliant. She recently celebrated her birthday and the staff arranged a cake and sang happy birthday to her and recorded this for us as a keepsake. All the staff go above and beyond with her care and also the little touches that make such a difference. I would without hesitation recommend the Old Rectory to anyone looking for an outstanding care home for any member of their family.

My mother has been a resident at The Old Rectory Nursing Home for the last 8 years and the care has been second to none. The staff are always cheerful and friendly and treat their residents with warmth and respect. Mum is really happy and very fortunate to be spending her later years here. The buildings and the garden a delight to sit in. The food is a highlight for mum who always loved cooking and the home always smells fresh and clean. FANTASTIC! Thank you to all the staff.

My husband has been in The Old Rectory since February 2017. He has been very settled and happy there and is very well looked after.

He loves the staff and they are very good with him. I wouldn't want him anywhere else if I couldn't have him at home.

Overall the care staff and nurses are wonderful and caring. The home has a lovely atmosphere and is very clean.

Sometimes there are nursing staff that can be unapproachable but they are extremely busy and I am understanding of this.

Overall I would give 100% to The Old Rectory Nursing Home.

My mum has been a resident at The Old Rectory for 18 months, she has received first class care from nurses, care assistants and other staff.

There are a number of activities organised each week and both my mum and I have enjoyed some lovely days out with other residents and their families. There is a lovely homely feel about the Old Rectory.
