- Worsened language and communication issues, forgetting what they are saying mid-sentence. Not being able to understand what someone else is saying
- More frequent confusion, e.g. about the time of day or where they are, including their own home
- Apathy, depression and anxiety
- Believing things that aren't true (paranoia)
- Frequent hallucinations
- Lack of emotional control, quick to anger, fearfulness, sadness
- Loss of inhibition
- Difficulties sleeping or waking during the night and behaving as though it is daytime - loss of circadian rhythm.
Advanced Dementia
Someone living with our definition of "severe dementia" might experience some or all of the following:
- Severe memory problems. Not recognising family members and friends. Not being able to recall their own name
- Severe language and communication issues, not being able to understand what someone else is saying
- Severe confusion, e.g. about the time of day or where they are, including their own home
- Apathy, depression and anxiety
- Believing things that aren't true (paranoia)
- Frequent hallucinations
- Lack of emotional control, quick to anger, fearfulness, sadness
- Loss of inhibition
- Difficulties sleeping or waking during the night and behaving as though it is daytime - loss of circadian rhythm.
Verbally or physically aggressive behaviour
If your loved one displays this type of behaviour you may need a care home that has specially trained staff. Verbal/physical aggression is often defined:

I feel the home is very homely and the staff always helpful and friendly. I feel my mother is happy and content to be there. I feel that the new management are making a reall effort to improve the home.

Overall Experience
Great place very helpful with dad's needs. Knows what he needs when he can't explain himself. Staff all friendly, one nurse not very helpful when dads in pain but rest of staff soon helped and got to the bottom of it.

We unfortunately had to place our dad through the injury he sustained.we were very worried how he would adjust to the environment. Soon as we came we were put at ease instantly by the level of care and compassion. He's been there 10 weeks all settled and happy with his next chapter..really glad that he ended up here . We couldn't ask for anything more. Loverly people and lovoverly home. Plus he loves the food

Been today 6/5/26 to see my friend Jamie, first time visiting, he seems very happy and settled. All the staff we met were extremely friendly and very pleasant, they all seemed to be enjoying their job, which was nice to see. The care home had a very nice friendly atmosphere, and seems a very nice place to put a relative in if needed.

Overall Experience
Manor view is a lovely home the staff do their best to meet everyone's needs. They are friendly and kind to all residents and families. We visit most days so I believe my review reflects the home as it actually is. Of course they are not perfect and sometimes residents might have to wait a little but that's to be expected. What is important to me is that my family member is happy and cared for with dignity and this home meets that requirement for all it's residents. I can't praise them enough.

Overall Experience
The care home is dated, but saying that, it is very clean and well decorated. The staff are very good at what they do, but they don't always have the time to spend enough time with their clients. Whether this is because they are short-staffed, I do not know. Sometimes there can be delays when my mum requests the toilet. Food is of a satisfactory standard. All the staff are pleasant and helpful, but not always easy to understand because of the language.

My dad was a resident there until he passed away. The staff were amazing. They always treated my dad with the utmost respect. Nothing was too much trouble for them. As my dad's illness progressed, so did the level of care. I don’t know what I would have done without the staff. Thank you.

Mum was moved here in December 2019. She has settled very well and picked up quite a bit. The meals are varied and well presented (always food and drink on offer). Staff are gentle and caring to residents. I noticed one day somebody had manicured and polished Mum's nails, the little things matter! Management and staff supportive and accommodating.
