Greenside Court is a small 20-bed complex needs care home in Greasbrough, Rotherham. The home supports adults living with complex physical disabilities, neuro-disabilities, Huntington’s disease and high dependency nursing needs.

The home, rated ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC (February 2020), is part of Exemplar Health Care, a leading provider of specialist nursing care for adults living with complex and high acuity needs.

Greenside Court provides a welcoming and supportive home that cares for some of the most complex and acute individuals, who would often otherwise be in a hospital setting, enabling them to stay in the community and reducing hospital and secure facility admission.

The home has an in-house team of Registered Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Life Skills Coordinators and Therapists that provide person-centred care which focuses on maximising independence, building everyday living skills and empowering people to live as fulfilled lives as possible.

The home supports people on their journey from being in hospital to community-based living, as well as offering longer term support for people living with degenerative or life-limiting illnesses.

Greenside Court has 20 large bedrooms, each with an en-suite, across two units, which promotes small group living that’s more responsive to people’s needs.

The home also has a OneCare service which is ideal for those whose needs require that they live alone.

•        Heshon Unit supports up to ten adults living with complex physical disabilities who also have a mild mental health condition.

•        Bernard Unit supports up to ten adults living with complex physical disabilities who may also have other diagnoses and complex health needs.

•        The OneCare service has two single occupancy houses over the road from Greenside Court, ideal for adults living with complex needs, whose needs require that they live alone or in a low stimulus environment.

Dad came to Greenside Court as I felt it was the best place to care for him due to his progressive MND. During his time there I was made extremely welcome and Dad settled quickly. The staff went above and beyond to make sure Dad's time there was spent going out on trips, local walks and especially his
weekend trip to Blackpool to see the Red Arrows. They made his 70th birthday extra special by arranging for birds of prey to visit, he loved it.

I would just like to say how brilliant and caring this home has been. Most homes would not bother for Christmas, the staff have the decency to actually bring you dinner and think of you on Christmas when most would not, this made me very emotional that you are thought about and is definitely the place
to live. I've never felt so happy and homely. The thought that goes into residents is outstanding, nobody would usually care but this home has the decency to think about you on Christmas.

My husband was treated with dignity and love. The staff were caring. There were sometimes staff problems and agency workers weren't the answer. The care home is clean and smells lovely, the opening staff work tirelessly. The social team went above the call of duty, nothing is too much trouble. My husband
always felt safe, loved and his needs were met. Cannot thank them enough. Apart for one Tissue Viability Nurse, who needs to get their act together.

Since my brother moved from his previous care home, there has been a massive improvement in him. He has put on weight, is happier in himself, and most of all is not in bed all day. He has already been out in the minibus for activities. I cannot praise the home and staff enough!

I really enjoyed my visit with my brother today. It was a calm, clean, friendly atmosphere. I was asked if I want a drink, which was kind. My brother was clean and well looked after. I was left to have family time with my brother where we recounted to family via WhatsApp. I am thankful to the care home
for having WIFI for the family to use and for my brother to access video call family with the support of staff. A special mention to the cleanliness of the care home - spotless.

From my first contact on enquiring about a friend, a few questions were asked to make sure my call was genuine on the phone, and on my arrival to make sure I knew the resident. Every time any staff came to my friend's room they always knocked on the door before being invited in.

Staff were very polite

and friendly, a bit chatty and nice. I was escorted to and from my friend's room as it was my first visit, everything just made for a very pleasant atmosphere. I was very pleased indeed by the whole experience.

Cleanliness and food and drink are very good. Safety is very good. Overall standard and care and support I think is excellent.
Residents are treated with dignity. Management is very nice. The rooms are very nice and have en-suites.

Management and most staff members are helpful and approachable. My brother's room is in need of an update, carpet replacement and decor.
Care of my brother, on the whole, is good, there have been and still are/is one issue I feel has not been addressed is the sleeping position of bed policy, this was
suddenly changed last July 2016 and it seemed to affect my brother dramatically, falling out of bed more often, I feel this policy could be adjusted to each user's individual needs.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.682)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.682) out of 10 for Greenside Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.750 for Greenside Court is calculated as follows: ( (27 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.75
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.932 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Greenside Court is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 22 registered maximum number of service users is 4.4. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.4 = 0.682
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
