The Lodge provides nursing care for adults with a learning disability and associated complex needs in a vibrant and homely bungalow.
Care and activity plans are built around an individual, supporting and encouraging them to be happy, cared for and as independent as possible. Making every day better is about achieving the best possible outcomes for service users, so staff at The Lodge identify goals and outcomes together with individuals, families and professionals.
The Lodge has six bedrooms, a dining kitchen, two lounges and an activity room. Bedrooms are furnished and decorated to suit personal tastes and every room has an accessible en-suite wet room as well as television and telephone points.
The dining menu is developed with service users to ensure varied and interesting meals are available for everyone, taking into account personal preferences, condition-specific and religious dietary requirements.
Social activities, leisure interests and hobbies are all part of a healthy, balanced life. The Lodge’s activity co-ordinator and service users work together to create meaningful and fun plans. As well as group activities, staff facilitate individual hobbies and interests and where appropriate, support to access education via ASDAN qualifications and volunteering opportunities. Regular outings include pub lunches, shopping trips, the cinema and theatre. Service users are also supported to go on holidays, with previous trips to York, Filey and Whitby. An accessible minibus means there is always transport available.
All service users have access to a sensory room, designed to develop a person's senses through special lighting, music and objects. A large enclosed garden with fruit trees includes a patio area with space for summer BBQs and parties.

* Care Quality Commission is responsible for the registration and inspection of social care services in England.
The Review Score of 6.9 (maximum of 10) for The Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 5 out of 5 from 1 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for The Lodge in Google's Search Results - more info
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 1.9 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 2 years. (A 2 year period has been used as there were no positive reviews in the last 12 months)
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.
The Average Rating of 5 for The Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (11 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 11 Ratings = 5
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.
1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.
If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.
The 1.917 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Lodge is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows:
3 = 3 then divided by 2 = 1.500
Target of 1.2 positive Reviews (6 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 1 Reviews ÷ 1.2 Target = 0.833 , then divided by 2 = 0.417
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

This is the first time I have visited The Lodge, I attended my sister's birthday party today and I must say, this is the nicest care home that my sister has ever stayed at. Every single member of staff were friendly and welcoming and an absolute pleasure to be around, the other residents were also lovely and friendly and we all really enjoyed ourselves. We were told that we are welcome to call anytime at all!!!!! The Lodge is an absolutely brilliant place and I would highly recommend it to anyone xxxxx
