Swallownest Care Home, ideally located in the attractive village of Swallownest, just four miles from Rotherham, supports older people to lead their best lives with personalised residential and nursing care.

A purpose-built, welcoming home with single and en-suite bedrooms, a hair salon, minibus for day trips out and pretty enclosed garden, Swallownest is a lovely space for residents to enjoy their later years with the peace of mind that they've got round-the-clock support from an experienced and compassionate team.

Mum moved to Swallownest Care Home after a series of nasty falls at home in March 2019.
Her quality of life has improved 100% and she’s even put on weight! All of the staff are very welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. During lockdown, the staff have done an amazing job keeping
everyone safe in difficult times for everyone. Contact has been maintained with Mum by weekly video calls arranged through Dawn the wellbeing coordinator, although it’s not quite the same the calls have proved to be a great way of staying in touch.
The manager and her team deserve great credit for all that they have done and I would recommend Swallownest to anyone who is making the difficult decision of moving a loved one into a care home.

Swallownest Care Home has completely altered my impression of nursing homes. It is clean and spacious. Rooms for eating, resting and socialising. Our father plays games; as part of Swallownests’ in-house rehabilitation. The activities coordinator and staff have built up a lovely relationship with our
father.
At a time when relatives emotions are running high, the manager and secretary are extremely professional and equally empathetic and very kind. They listen and guide you through the process of establishing suitable care for your relative right from the hospital discharge. The nursing staff have a wealth of experience. Any concerns are always raised promptly with the family. We would highly recommend this care home.

We found Swallownest when our mother was very ill. They have been a Godsend, and I can only be grateful that they could care for her. They work endlessly to make sure Mum and we are taken care of. We can't thank them enough. The staff have been fantastic, and the manager is an amazing source of support
to us. We couldn't wish for better.

My mother spent the last few days of her life in the care of the staff at Swallownest Care Home. She was treated with compassion, respect and professional duty of care that could not be surpassed. Family members were also treated with sympathy and care and encouraged to spend precious time together.
Her final hours passed peacefully with family by her bedside. Thank you to everyone.

I'd just like to say how great all the staff have been.
During Covid, the staff have been fantastic. One lady used her own personal mobile to allow me to FaceTime my mum during the lockdown. Another lady has dealt with my visits re testing very well.
More recently, the manager dealt efficiently with
my concerns over an end of life funding issue.
I would recommend this home for anyone's parents.

This is a fantastic care home. It would be my first choice if a loved one required it, there's a homely vibe when people was allowed to visit, the video calls was great when we weren't permitted to visit due to Covid, excellent, kind, caring staff (very funny as well); they even get dressed up from
time to time. I'm told every single member of staff got vaccinated for Covid to help keep the residents safe. My uncle was also a resident here last year, and we made some good memories. I used to think care homes were like hospitals, but this use to have fairs, pub quizzes, bingo, singers (performers), dancers, craft days and even the odd trip to the seaside, hopefully, this will return as the country comes out of lockdown.

The home is amazing; the staff are all friendly and always have a smile on their faces. Mum is well cared for and is always treated with respect and kindness. The manager at the home is excellent, and her door is always open. The wellbeing coordinator does an amazing job and brings laughter to the residents.
I can honestly say there is no better home than Swallownest. Mum is happy, and I have no concerns at all.

Very professionally run care home. Good staff and the home offers a full range of activities for those that wish to use. During these last few “ lockdown “ months communication from the management team has been first class and the support of the activities “ team” to enable digital contact has been
exceptional. It’s satisfying to trust an organisation such as this! I appreciate that the recent (and ongoing) serious health / virus issues must be a concern for staff. This is recognised by me and I say a big Thank you.

My father moved here in January 2020 and has always received the very best of care. I’ve found the home to be clean, friendly and welcoming. The nursing and care team treat Dad with dignity and respect, and the activities team engage, entertain and amuse him. Living here has given him his quality of
life back.
During the Covid-19 crisis, the manager and staff have worked tirelessly to keep residents safe and relatives informed. The activities co-ordinator has organised regular video calls with Dad, which have made lockdown so much more bearable for all of us. My family are extremely grateful, and we thank you all.

I want to thank the manager for guiding and helping me through what has been a very stressful period for my mum and myself. Mum has been in hospital for a week and needed care when she came out. The manager has been a huge support to me helping with the transition from hospital into a care home with
ease. My mum is at the start of her journey at Swallownest but I am very confident that after a few days she will settle and enjoy her time there. Because if the Covid situation I haven’t been able to look around myself but I’m confident that it will all be excellent. The few staff I have met and spoken to on the phone so far all seem very kind and caring. I have spoken to a few people who know of the home and all have spoken of the wonderful leadership that it has in the manager.

The home is by far one of the best, well-managed homes in the locality. Particularly since the arrival of Covid-19, they took the necessary precautions to protect my Nan and all the residents from the pandemic and managed the situation excellently. The staff as a whole are brilliant at their jobs and

My mum-in-law has been here for 10 months and is very happy. We get regular pictures of her doing activities even whilst covid-19 lockdown is ongoing and we are kept informed by the manager regularly. The staff are lovely and treat residents with the respect they deserve, the meals are very good and
they get lots of little treats too. I would not hesitate to recommend Swallownest Care Home to anyone.

My 92-year-old mother-in-law went into the home in January. From the moment she arrived, she was included for lunch and cups of tea. The home is clean and welcoming with lovely furnishings and décor. The activities were varied and besides the many in-house activities included going to tea dances, coffee
mornings and even going to the pub. The home locked down on 13th March a good 10-days before the rest of the country. They have had no incidents of the virus and have been testing both residents and staff. Whenever we ring anyone at the home, they are really helpful and caring, and given how busy they must be, extend every courtesy and reassurance to us. The activities co-ordinator sends us regular photos of her, and most facilities are still in place, with carers doubling as hair-dressers, so the residents are still in a routine and being entertained by this lovely set of carers. We feel blessed that we chose this care-home, and can’t thank them enough for everything they do.

My mum has been in this care home for a few years now and is really happy here. She thinks of it as her home. She has a lovely ground floor room which allows her easy access in and out even at 99. The staff look after her very well, especially during this covid crisis. We have had regular updates and

As a Registered Nurse, Jan has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for Residents.


Jan closely shares HC-One’s vision is aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Jan remarked:


“I am passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and the quality of life for Residents and I am so proud of my team and the kind care we provide as a whole, to all that enter our home.”


Outside of work, Jan enjoys spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who she says are, “The greatest gifts that I have ever been given in life.”
