This is a fantastic care home. It would be my first choice if a loved one required it, there's a homely vibe when people was allowed to visit, the video calls was great when we weren't permitted to visit due to Covid, excellent, kind, caring staff (very funny as well); they even get dressed up from time to time. I'm told every single member of staff got vaccinated for Covid to help keep the residents safe. My uncle was also a resident here last year, and we made some good memories. I used to think care homes were like hospitals, but this use to have fairs, pub quizzes, bingo, singers (performers), dancers, craft days and even the odd trip to the seaside, hopefully, this will return as the country comes out of lockdown.
The home is amazing; the staff are all friendly and always have a smile on their faces. Mum is well cared for and is always treated with respect and kindness. The manager at the home is excellent, and her door is always open. The wellbeing coordinator does an amazing job and brings laughter to the residents. I can honestly say there is no better home than Swallownest. Mum is happy, and I have no concerns at all.
Good in every way!
Very caring, friendly and knowledgeable.
My mu has been in the home for five years.
She has always been well looked after, and we have has no concerns whatsoever.
This year has been difficult for all of us. The staff at Swallownest are always pleasant, competent and caring. We are all looking forward to things opening up, so we can spend more quality time with our loved ones.
I really appreciate the care and attention given to someone with many problems and thankful for what they have done during the pandemic.
During a very difficult year, the home has always done its best to support, care for and keep safe my elderly 95-year-old mother and kept her family abreast of the current status of the home and its residence.
Very professionally run care home. Good staff and the home offers a full range of activities for those that wish to use. During these last few “ lockdown “ months communication from the management team has been first class and the support of the activities “ team” to enable digital contact has been exceptional. It’s satisfying to trust an organisation such as this! I appreciate that the recent (and ongoing) serious health / virus issues must be a concern for staff. This is recognised by me and I say a big Thank you.
During the Covid-19 crisis, the manager and staff have worked tirelessly to keep residents safe and relatives informed. The activities co-ordinator has organised regular video calls with Dad, which have made lockdown so much more bearable for all of us. My family are extremely grateful, and we thank you all.
I want to thank the manager for guiding and helping me through what has been a very stressful period for my mum and myself. Mum has been in hospital for a week and needed care when she came out. The manager has been a huge support to me helping with the transition from hospital into a care home with ease. My mum is at the start of her journey at Swallownest but I am very confident that after a few days she will settle and enjoy her time there. Because if the Covid situation I haven’t been able to look around myself but I’m confident that it will all be excellent. The few staff I have met and spoken to on the phone so far all seem very kind and caring. I have spoken to a few people who know of the home and all have spoken of the wonderful leadership that it has in the manager.
The home is by far one of the best, well-managed homes in the locality. Particularly since the arrival of Covid-19, they took the necessary precautions to protect my Nan and all the residents from the pandemic and managed the situation excellently. The staff as a whole are brilliant at their jobs and are a credit to the home, we can’t thank them enough for keeping my Nan safe and well at this trying time
My mum-in-law has been here for 10 months and is very happy. We get regular pictures of her doing activities even whilst covid-19 lockdown is ongoing and we are kept informed by the manager regularly. The staff are lovely and treat residents with the respect they deserve, the meals are very good and they get lots of little treats too. I would not hesitate to recommend Swallownest Care Home to anyone.
My father-in-law has been in this care home since 16/1/2020 his care has been outstanding. It's so reassuring to know he’s getting such wonderful care. We are so grateful to all the staff. Thank you so much for your hard work and care in these trying times.
My 92-year-old mother-in-law went into the home in January. From the moment she arrived, she was included for lunch and cups of tea. The home is clean and welcoming with lovely furnishings and décor. The activities were varied and besides the many in-house activities included going to tea dances, coffee mornings and even going to the pub. The home locked down on 13th March a good 10-days before the rest of the country. They have had no incidents of the virus and have been testing both residents and staff. Whenever we ring anyone at the home, they are really helpful and caring, and given how busy they must be, extend every courtesy and reassurance to us. The activities co-ordinator sends us regular photos of her, and most facilities are still in place, with carers doubling as hair-dressers, so the residents are still in a routine and being entertained by this lovely set of carers. We feel blessed that we chose this care-home, and can’t thank them enough for everything they do.
My mum has been in this care home for a few years now and is really happy here. She thinks of it as her home. She has a lovely ground floor room which allows her easy access in and out even at 99. The staff look after her very well, especially during this covid crisis. We have had regular updates and video calls provided by her lovely carers. Many thanks from all the family.
Every member of staff has been excellent in the care that is given.
I would recommend this home to anyone who asked me
Under normal circumstances, it's an absolute pleasure to visit, not only Mum but everyone there. So at the moment, with lockdown in place, thank you for the video calls you organise. We are looking forward to the time when we can see you all again.
My initial view was amplified significantly when the Coronavirus hit. The professional way the staff and management have performed during this time is exemplary. I would like to praise the staff in relation to how they have maintained contact between the residents and their family. During a very tough period for all involved, a weekly face to face video call with loved ones has been wonderful.
The personal commitment of the staff that facilitated this, is something we will not forget.
Thank you and God bless you all.
Mum came to home with high levels of anxiety. With correct and regular medication and the excellent food she is now much better. The staff have been excellent in enabling her to feel much better.
She had recently been diagnosed with early-stage dementia.
Her decline over those 4 weeks was staggering and we were told after 3 weeks she had 3 months left.
My Dad couldn’t have coped with her at home but given his age (82) we wanted to get her as close to his house as possible.
One of my work associates had only just been telling me that after looking all over S Yorks he had got his Mum into Swallownest as he felt it was the best in the area.
This home was 200 yards away from where Dad lived so ideal.
The Manager was superb as she visited my Mum in hospital and watched the (non) care she was getting and as my Mum could now barely move she got her into the home within 48 hours.
Unfortunately, my Mum was only there for 6 days but the manager and all the staff were brilliant and made those last few days 100% better for both my Mum and, just as importantly my Dad. Thank you.
