During my father's stay, which was only 28 days, we feel that he had the best care possible.
His last days were treated with care, dignity and we know he felt the same, which was a big comfort to his family.

My grandma has been well looked after and supported while staying here. Plenty of activities have been provided for her to complete and join in. She enjoys the trips out to cafe etc... and will always relate back to these in conversations.
She enjoys the communal areas and sitting with the other residents.

Many of you reading these reviews many be concerned about moving your loved one into residential care. Our family too felt that way in January 2017 when my Mother-in-law became ill. Having seen media coverage about care homes, we wanted to find the right place.
Swallownest Care Home was recommended
to us and we are so glad it was. The staff are so caring and patient, nursing care is excellent, food wonderful, with facilities to suit all needs. Activities are so varied and inclusive for all. Nothing is too much trouble - for residents or their families. Her living here has allowed us to enjoy the time we've had left with our mum, free from usual daily tasks. This time was precious. If you are lucky enough to get a place here, you will have no worries at all.

In general, care is brilliant from members of staff. But when there are staff shortages, this does have an impact on quality of care received.

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review. We really value the feedback provided by those who use our services. The home has above average staffing to provide a person-centered approach to care delivery, unfortunately, there may be times when Residents require extra support due to ill health and at these times it may appear that staff are in short supply. The home is always staffed in alliance with the dependency status of our Residents and this also enables us to provide dignified end of life care, when required. Our home also has a number of volunteers that visit on a regular basis and provide excellent one to one therapies which are not always acknowledged by other family members. The manager has an open door policy where she is available to listen and resolve any concerns.

Good, friendly, compassionate, caring staff. My husband was cared for very well. He made very good progress while here. He enjoyed the activities and outings. From my point of view, I wish it was more secure and he could have remained.

Caring home, lovely staff, though occasionally in short supply due to no fault of their own. There is so much to do, caring beautifully for a wide range of individual needs. Support for the family as well as resident. Opinion and views of family etc... taken on board and acted upon appropriately.

maintained home, but would probably benefit from more rooms with ensuite showers etc...

My review is on behalf of my mum who has been resident at the home since 11/1/17. My mum is no longer capable of writing this herself due to a terminal brain tumour. I cannot praise the staff and facilities at Swallownest Care Home highly enough- they are kind, considerate, friendly and patient. My
mum is able to tell me that they are "lovely" and she absolutely loves the food! This is my first experience with a care home and this one came highly recommended. The recommendation was correct! It may seem a small thing but this to me is highly indicative of the level of care, whenever I go (daily) the staff always know where my mum is - in her room, outside, in lounge and who has been- they couldn't do this if they did not pay such good attention to the residents.

Mum has been in the home for almost 10 months now and her health and well-being are so much better on visiting. I found her happy and involved in the activities, she now sits up without the support of pillows and seems to be happy. As I live far away it is nice to see her settled and happy.

From the first time I visited Swallownest Care Home, I just knew this is where I would like my Mum to be. The staff are professional, polite, friendly. They cannot help you enough and most of all, they genuinely care. Swallownest Care Home is homely. It has lovely touches to detail re: decor/accessories
in all areas e.g. lounges/residents rooms. I cannot thank the staff enough for the smooth transition they gave my Mum from her previous home and how they have made her welcome. It is a delight and pleasure to visit Mum, knowing she is well cared for and happy. Thank you.

I am a local widow who met the residents of Swallownest Care Home at our local day centre. I realise my neighbour has moved into Swallownest Care Home after seeing her with the staff of the home at the local day centre.
I now visit my friend most weeks and she has never looked so well and is getting
out and about regularly.

Our Mom was told along with all our family that she was going to have go go into a nursing home. We found this really hard to deal with as for a couple of years with help from private carers and our dad had managed to care for Mom at home, but this was taken out of our hands. We went on Swallownest
site and liked what we saw, so went and visited. We were made very welcome by the Manager and staff. We talked to some of the carers who really made us feel at ease. Our Mom cant walk at all really and has Alzheimer's. All the staff really help our Mom and her care needs are second to none. It is a very special, caring home with lovely carers who made our Mom feel cared for. Also good entertainment and involve everyone.

My mother entered the home in early March and from the very first day was made to feel very much at home. The staff have been very supportive to both my mother and also to all her visitors. They create a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Rooms are very comfortable and food is plentiful and varied.
Staff will do whatever they can to meet the needs of the residents. There is a varied programme of activities that visitors are also encouraged to attend. Residents and relations are encouraged to share thoughts at a residents meeting.

My good friend and neighbour was in and out of hospital. I used to pop in and see him most days and could see he was struggling to manage at home. My wife was cared for in Swallownest care home and the care she received was excellent I recommended Swallownest to my friend. He has now lived in Swallownest
for about 18 months and is settled. I visit 3 or 4 times a week and often have lunch here. This home is brilliant and I cold not find a bad word to say about this home. My friend is in the best place possible.

My wife suffering with ill health and ended up in hospital, due to me suffering ill health myself. I was advised that my wife would need 24 hour nursing care. Swallownest Care Home was recommended to us so we came to look around. I was quite pleased with what I saw, we went home and discussed our options
and we decided it was where we would like my wife to live. She has been here now for 2 weeks and I am very pleased with everything.

My mum recently went into hospital due to bad health and with her poor mobility was advised by a hospital consultant that mom needed 24 hour nursing care. After look around we found Swallownest Nursing Home was the right one for mom.
The staff are excellent, caring and considerate and mom has settled
in really well, which really helped us as a family as it was one of the hardest decisions we have ever had to make.
So thank you Swallownest for all of your help and making mum part of your family.

As a Registered Nurse, Jan has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of life for Residents.


Jan closely shares HC-One’s vision is aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Jan remarked:


“I am passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and the quality of life for Residents and I am so proud of my team and the kind care we provide as a whole, to all that enter our home.”


Outside of work, Jan enjoys spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who she says are, “The greatest gifts that I have ever been given in life.”
