When mum was admitted from hospital I was not happy with the look of the home as it is faded and the rooms were very small. However, I looked past this because the care mum receives is wonderful. She is not easy due to some dementia but she is treated with dignity and respect. Most of the time mum is
in bed but she has no sign of bedsores which says a lot about the care she receives. The food is excellent.

My mum has been in St Catherine's Nursing Home for the last couple of months. I feel she has now really settled in. All the staff are amazing. They really look after all the residents. It is a very nice, clean and friendly care home. I take peace in knowing my mum is being looked after by such a lovely
team of caring people.

My sister-in-law is in this care home and the latest date we went is 14/07/2025 the care she receives is absolutely excellent. There is a member of staff in each room is looking after them while they are sat during the day. And also doing activities with them. It is no trouble with the staff with coming
for a chat with us to talk to us about my sister-in-law and let us know how she is getting on.

My mother can be challenging, refusing basic tasks like showering, but I was assured by the management team that this happens regularly, with a bit of patience by the staff she now shower's with assistance, which was a great relief for all the family.
I have found the staff patient and understanding.

My stepmother was taken into care suffering from dementia and lived at St Catherine's for the final 3 years of her life. Her room was spatious and aesthetically pleasing and always clean & tidy. She was surrounded by staff who looked after her emotional and physical well-being to such an extent that
she felt loved and safe. I was able to give full trust to the wonderful staff who provided this care and who stayed with her at all hours in her final days.

Would just like to say thank you to the amazing staff, they answer your questions straight away. The care for my mum is amazing. My mum is now end of life care but the staff always feed, check, and change mum. I can not explain in words how much my mum is looked after. The staff need paying a lot more
with what they have to do and calm situations down when the resident becomes violent because of their illness. Thank you a million times.

My dad is well cared for and clean by very caring and friendly staff who try to interact with him. They treat him with respect and keep his dignity. They are always very welcoming to the family, whatever time of day. We feel the rooms need decorating and updating.

St Catherine's is Mum's second nursing home, and up to press, it's the best. Mum is well looked after, with loving care. This nursing home is so good I don't have any guilt now when I leave Mum to come home. Her surroundings are always clean, and the food is acceptable. The staff are brilliant, and
one member, what a star she is - every care home should have one of her!

I have visited my wife 3/4 times per week for over three years, and I am 100% satisfied with the way she has been cared for. During this period, I've noticed how all regular staff are very friendly and caring to all residents, which must be very difficult. Residents are never ignored, and staff will
sit and talk to them, which they appreciate very much. If I have any concerns regarding anything, it has been dealt with immediately by the management.

I cannot fault the care and support offered to my mum. I feel totally confident that her best interests are served, and the staff and management are always happy to liaise with the family to ensure the best for Mum.
Perhaps the only limitations are the building itself, but that is made up for by the
warmth and care of staff, who deserve much praise.

Our concern is male patient wonders into Mom's room, sometimes wearing only a wet nappy. As Mom is bedridden, we are concerned. This has happened when we have been visiting a few times, so our concern is when we are not there.

My mum enjoys her respite care at St Catherine's. Every time I take Mum, the staff I meet are happy, friendly and caring. The place is run efficiently but friendly also. This is extremely important to me as my mum's full-time carer; it is essential that both Mum and I feel happy and confident in the
respite care provided. The experience has made me confident this is the right place for Mums future permanent care.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.109)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.109) out of 10 for St Catherine's Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.566 for St Catherine's Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (71 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.566
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.543 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Catherine's Nursing Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 14 = 0.643
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2025

I began my career as a nurse in 1989 and have 36 years’ experience as a registered nurse. After qualifying and registering with the then UKCC, I joined the Queen Alexandra Royal Army Nursing Corps and saw service across the UK and abroad. I left after 7 years but continued to work as a United Kingdom-based civilian in Army medical centres in Germany and Cyprus as a practice nurse. On my return to the United Kingdom, I worked as a registered nurse in a care home in Northern Ireland for 2 years. On return to England, I was fortunate to take up a position with the Nursing and Midwifery Council in 2005 as a professional Advisor. A position I held for 7 years. It was in 2012 when I started my career in care homes and have not looked back since. I have held posts as a Registered Manager in care homes in London, Hampshire, Leeds and now Sheffield. I joined Regal Care in August 2025, and I can honestly say I feel I have come home and have been made to feel very welcome.
