St Catherine's is a very pleasant nursing home.
As soon as I looked around it at the start, I got that feeling.
The manager and all the staff are loevly and nothing is too much trouble.
My mum and dad are in a really goodplace. Their room is always fresh and clean as is the rest of the home.

I visit my friend in St Catherines every 2 weeks and I am always made so welcome by all the staff. There is always a cheerful feel about the place.
The residents that live there always look cared for and look individual in the way they dress. For example, when I visited on Tuesday one gentleman was
wearing a shirt and tie, while some of the ladies had their jewellery and makeup. These are the things that keep people's personalities alive and give you talking points, to say how lovely they look.
It's a clean, tidy building but the staff have made it 'home'

My father-in-law has been in St Catherine's for 8 months. When I visit him I always find him shaved, clean and tidy and his surroundings and facilities are kept clean and tidy too. The staff are always friendly, cheerful and helpful. The manager is always looking for ways to improve the life of the
residents to make their stay at St Catherine's an enjoyable one.

My father went in to St Catherines for 2 weeks respite but because of his mobility he could not return home. Although we did not choose St Catherines for his respite, we did choose for him to stay there because I knew he was well looked after. I was at ease in the knowledge that I would be contacted
if there was a problem and my dad's needs are always taken care of. The staff work hard to keep his spirits high and keep him cheerful. He has been at St Catherines for 8 months now and he now sees it as his home.

St Catherine's Nursing Home is a lovely home, very clean and brightly decorated, friendly staff and management always willing to oblige when approached. Meals are very good too, also you can visit anytime which is good for people who work difficult hours. Altogether a very nice home and there's always
a friendly atmosphere. I always enjoy my visits.

Right from the moment, we went through the doors at St Catherine's Nursing Home we were impressed not only by the thoughtful presentation of the layout and the way that space had been made available for different tastes such as a quiet area, reading area, two/three tv lounges etc. But by the caring
attitude of all the staff from the managers positive and loving outlook to residents and staff, the nurses and the staff themselves. St Catherine's has made a big difference to an awful situation. A special mention for the entertainments co-ordinator who really works very hard to find innovative ways to engage the residents.

I think on the whole the staff are great. They are very concerned with the people they look after. Even the management mucks in when they are short staffed. This home is a very well run place. Also, all the staff are very friendly since mum has been there. I've had no problem. Big pat on the back
for St Catherine's nursing home. I feel also mum is well looked after.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.460)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.460) out of 10 for St Catherine's Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.706 for St Catherine's Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (113 Excellents x 5) + (35 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 153 Ratings = 4.706
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.754 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Catherine's Nursing Home is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14. 13 Positive Reviews ÷ 14 = 0.929
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2025

I began my career as a nurse in 1989 and have 36 years’ experience as a registered nurse. After qualifying and registering with the then UKCC, I joined the Queen Alexandra Royal Army Nursing Corps and saw service across the UK and abroad. I left after 7 years but continued to work as a United Kingdom-based civilian in Army medical centres in Germany and Cyprus as a practice nurse. On my return to the United Kingdom, I worked as a registered nurse in a care home in Northern Ireland for 2 years. On return to England, I was fortunate to take up a position with the Nursing and Midwifery Council in 2005 as a professional Advisor. A position I held for 7 years. It was in 2012 when I started my career in care homes and have not looked back since. I have held posts as a Registered Manager in care homes in London, Hampshire, Leeds and now Sheffield. I joined Regal Care in August 2025, and I can honestly say I feel I have come home and have been made to feel very welcome.
