My Mum has now been in the care home for a year. Despite one of those most difficult times for the country, the family cannot speak too highly for the excellent care she has received from all the staff at the home.
She is always kept very clean and well presented, a difficult task as she is unable
to walk, talk and is incontinent.
Management and staff have always enabled contact with the family and my Mum while staying within the regulations and safety measures.
Entertainment is still provided for patients including barbeques and other activities.
The manager is always happy to talk through any questions we have, and they keep Mum going with a smile with all the activities! The staff are also brilliant in providing excellent care for Mum as all the staff are at the nursing home too!
Thank you to everyone for helping to make such a difficult time more bearable for the family, as we know Mum is so well looked after and cared for by everyone.

Deciding to let others look after an elderly parent who has been affected by dementia is never an easy decision to make. I can categorically say that the care given to my mother by staff at St Catherine's has been second to none. The work they do is hard, unrelating and sometimes thankless, but the
manager and the staff some just amazing people clearly love their work and its shows. My mother has been there for a number of years and has now sadly passed on, but I and my family could not have wished for a better place for her to spend the latter part of her life. I hope that St Catherine's goes on from strength to strength. Lots of love and respect for the manager and all the wonderful staff there. From my family and myself, thank you all from the bottom of my heart for caring for my mum.

Excellent standard of care, lots of activities and entertainment. We are missing Dotty the dog as she is not allowed to come anymore, she is missed by both residents and visitors.

My husband is well looked after. I feel happy that he is receiving the care I can't provide. Going into care is different for everyone involved, but this has been made much easier with the help of St Catherine's staff.

It is a very clean and tidy place. The staff are very friendly with everybody. They laugh and have a joke and that is what people who are staying there need.
I go every other day and it is something I thought I would never enjoy doing but I must admit I do.

My sister has shown a noticeable improvement since moving into St Catherine's which I can only attribute to the level of care that she receives. The staff have been helpful and friendly when I have visited.

My mother has been a resident for 10 months. During this period she has received excellent care. She is comfortable in the setting and trusts those around her. When I visit staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. They know their residents very well and are most attentive to their needs. I cannot
ask for more.
Well done St Catherine's.

I visit my friend in St Catherines every 2 weeks and I am always made so welcome by all the staff. There is always a cheerful feel about the place.
The residents that live there always look cared for and look individual in the way they dress. For example, when I visited on Tuesday one gentleman was
wearing a shirt and tie, while some of the ladies had their jewellery and makeup. These are the things that keep people's personalities alive and give you talking points, to say how lovely they look.
It's a clean, tidy building but the staff have made it 'home'

My father-in-law has been in St Catherine's for 8 months. When I visit him I always find him shaved, clean and tidy and his surroundings and facilities are kept clean and tidy too. The staff are always friendly, cheerful and helpful. The manager is always looking for ways to improve the life of the
residents to make their stay at St Catherine's an enjoyable one.

My father went in to St Catherines for 2 weeks respite but because of his mobility he could not return home. Although we did not choose St Catherines for his respite, we did choose for him to stay there because I knew he was well looked after. I was at ease in the knowledge that I would be contacted
if there was a problem and my dad's needs are always taken care of. The staff work hard to keep his spirits high and keep him cheerful. He has been at St Catherines for 8 months now and he now sees it as his home.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.109)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.109) out of 10 for St Catherine's Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.566 for St Catherine's Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (71 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.566
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.543 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Catherine's Nursing Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 14 = 0.643
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2025

I began my career as a nurse in 1989 and have 36 years’ experience as a registered nurse. After qualifying and registering with the then UKCC, I joined the Queen Alexandra Royal Army Nursing Corps and saw service across the UK and abroad. I left after 7 years but continued to work as a United Kingdom-based civilian in Army medical centres in Germany and Cyprus as a practice nurse. On my return to the United Kingdom, I worked as a registered nurse in a care home in Northern Ireland for 2 years. On return to England, I was fortunate to take up a position with the Nursing and Midwifery Council in 2005 as a professional Advisor. A position I held for 7 years. It was in 2012 when I started my career in care homes and have not looked back since. I have held posts as a Registered Manager in care homes in London, Hampshire, Leeds and now Sheffield. I joined Regal Care in August 2025, and I can honestly say I feel I have come home and have been made to feel very welcome.
