Holmwood care home, located on the outskirts of Sheffield, in an attractive residential area of Norton Lees, provides personalised dementia care to older people.

Many residents at Holmwood enjoy the range of places to explore, including a pub, tea room, sensory room, café, hair salon, library service and nail bar, as well as the specially designed dining areas that provide the perfect space to share meals with fellow residents, or family and friends.

On those sunny summer days, the peaceful enclosed garden is the ideal spot for some alfresco dining and the catering team work hard to offer a varied and nutritious menu, ensuring each meal is an enjoyable experience.

The team at Holmwood take the time to learn about each resident’s individual hobbies and interests so that they are able to encourage participation in things they enjoy across the home, whether it be the planned activities or enjoying a quiet drink.

Connection with the local community in Norton Lees is also promoted, from building relationships with the neighbours in local community groups and schools to arranging sightseeing trips in the local area.

I find Holmwood Care home a very welcoming home. Staff and management are really wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble for them. My Mother-in-Law has been there two weeks now and is so much happier and comfortable than she has been in months. She looks lovely and clean and is so well looked after.
We, as a family, are so happy and contented knowing she is so looked after and happy.

The staff at Holmwood are very caring and always approachable. We are offered plenty of drinks whilst visiting our relative. Our relative is more settled and her health is much more stable than it has been in a long time. We would highly recommend this lovely place to anyone looking for a place of care
for themselves or their loved ones. Also, a good all-round social takes place on a regular basis.

Every time we come, all the staff are very pleasant. We are always offered refreshments. Our relative's room is very comfortable and she is well looked after. We are very grateful to all the staff for their care and support of both our relative and us.

I regularly visit Holmwood Care Home with the husband of a resident. I cannot fault the home in any way. The environment is wonderful and welcoming, the staff are friendly and helpful and extremely caring. There are numerous and varied activities for the residents. Some of them particularly enjoy singing
and dancing to the musical entertainment provided and the joy this gives them is a pleasure to observe. The resident's husband goes home happy and relaxed due to seeing his wife happy and content which is important to his well-being (he is 93). I would have no hesitation in recommending the home.

I cared for my husband with Alzheimer's for 6 years and I was reluctant for him to go into a care home. On visiting Holmwood Care Home everyone was so friendly and helpful and everywhere smelt lovely (this was important to the cleanliness). It had a very homely feel. My husband has settled well. The
care, attention and love he is shown has put my mind at rest, they look after him as well as or even better than I was able to in the last 12 months I was loving and caring for him. His room is neat and clean with ensuite. All of the facilities are neat, clean and so much bigger and better than we had at home. All of the staff, carers, cleaners, chefs are catering. They all watch out for the clients in the restrooms, activity areas and dining room. The kindness and care shown to everyone is amazing. I am so happy my family and I chose Holmwood Care Home. God bless you all.

My mum has been at Holmwood Care Home since October 2016. The feeling of warmth is radiated as soon as you walk through the reception.
All the staff from kitchen to management are absolutely amazing. They show empathy, commitment and respect to all residents.
Mum is happy and content. I can go home
knowing mum is safe and well looked after.

When the present management took over in December 2017, she had a mammoth, almost impossible task to bring Holmwood back to the exceptional care home it was 12 months before.
Staff morale was at an all-time low. Manager and senior staff have worked together as we are now seeing the results of this.
An incident involving my relative was dealt with by nursing staff immediately and sympathetically.

My wife has been a resident since August 2016 and myself and my family have always been happy with the care she has received. There was a difficult period of changing manager but that was short term. The current manager is doing a really good job, and is very well thought of by everyone. Always striving
for improvement and is always available for people to meet with her. Really happy with the home and my wife's care.

It's never an easy decision to place a family member in a care home but Holmwood has made things easier for us. The staff are very caring, friendly and supportive and the standards of cleanliness, food and personal care are excellent. We feel confident my Dad is receiving the care he needs, which makes
it easier to visit him and less stressful when they're away.

Generally happy with the care that is being provided for my mum. However, I feel that standards have slipped somewhat over the last few months. Shortage of permanent staff seems to be the reason for this - already raised with management.

Dad moved into Holmwood Care Home after spending 18 weeks in hospital. The family knew from day one we had made the right choice. He had Alzheimer's, Myeloma (end stage) and his prognosis was 12 weeks. He only lived for eight but the ethos and staff at Holmwood Care Home made sure they were as happy
and safe as possible. Dad danced, sang, kissed and cuddled his way through his time there. His last week was not easy for the family but the staff supported us as well as dad and his passing was calm and dignified. You have our eternal thanks.

As an example of the personalised care provided by the home. My wife's low weight and poor appetite had been noticed. A member of the catering staff spent a long time discussing this with her and me.
Arrangments were then made for meals to be personalised to her background and experience of living
abroad. This has made a considerable difference to her eating.

Mum has been welcomed into Holmwood Care Home with considerable care and attention from everyone including the reception administrator, the cook, the handyman and above all the care workers and the senior nurse. There is such a warm, calm and relaxing atmosphere that makes it feel homely and supportive
for my Mum and for us. Staff are kind, concerned and interested in my Mum - her key person is lovely and has really got to know Mum very well. Little touches like the memory boxes, comfy lounges that don't look like you are in a care home and the pictures/artefacts that are scattered around the corridors and rooms all add to the ambience.
It's a great feeling to know that Mum is safe, well-cared for and settled - Thank you

Having started her career as a care home cook, Vicki has gained nearly 20 years’ experience in providing care and support to older people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Vicki joined Holmwood as she closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Holmwood.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Vicki remarked:
“I find it very satisfying when I see our care making a difference to our Residents’ wellbeing.”


Away from work, Vicki enjoys spending her spare time with her friends and her young family.
