I have nothing but praise for all aspects of care received by my husband, myself and all our family. I was given a room to be with my husband for the last week of his life. No change was made.

Dad moved into Holmwood Care Home after spending 18 weeks in hospital. The family knew from day one we had made the right choice. He had Alzheimer's, Myeloma (end stage) and his prognosis was 12 weeks. He only lived for eight but the ethos and staff at Holmwood Care Home made sure they were as happy and safe as possible. Dad danced, sang, kissed and cuddled his way through his time there. His last week was not easy for the family but the staff supported us as well as dad and his passing was calm and dignified. You have our eternal thanks.

As an example of the personalised care provided by the home. My wife's low weight and poor appetite had been noticed. A member of the catering staff spent a long time discussing this with her and me.

Arrangments were then made for meals to be personalised to her background and experience of living abroad. This has made a considerable difference to her eating.

Mum has been welcomed into Holmwood Care Home with considerable care and attention from everyone including the reception administrator, the cook, the handyman and above all the care workers and the senior nurse. There is such a warm, calm and relaxing atmosphere that makes it feel homely and supportive for my Mum and for us. Staff are kind, concerned and interested in my Mum - her key person is lovely and has really got to know Mum very well. Little touches like the memory boxes, comfy lounges that don't look like you are in a care home and the pictures/artefacts that are scattered around the corridors and rooms all add to the ambience.

It's a great feeling to know that Mum is safe, well-cared for and settled - Thank you

Holmwood is a very pleasant nursing home. There is very rarely any unpleasant odours one associates with some homes. The staff are excellent, very patient, friendly and efficient. There is a happy atmosphere throughout. The rooms are nicely decorated, furnished, warm and clean and tidy. A credit to all the staff that work there.

When I visit Mum I can hear the general business of the home as the routine of the day unfolds. I'm always struck by the kindness and calmness of the voices of the staff, whatever they are doing - be it talking to those walking about, helping others, cleaning and returning clean laundry or assisting with more intimate tasks. It's always the same and it makes me feel confident that it is a habitual atmosphere.

My mom was already in a care home, kept in bed all day and night, catheter kept in from the hospital, she had no dignity and very little care. I was told she wouldn't walk again. Withing 2-3 hours of her moving into Holmwood, she was on her feet with help, within 4 days she was walking on her own with a frame. She no longer has a catheter in. The manager and staff are first class, providing dignity and very high level of care to everyone. My mom has a social life there and is happy.

My Dad has been at Holmwood for just over two years with advanced Alzheimer's and COPD. We have been over the moon with every aspect of his care. We were impressed with the home at our first (unscheduled) visit, the young lady who showed us around was very welcoming and clearly enthusiastic about the home and working there, and this set the tone for all of our experiences at Holmwood. The staff are exceptional in my view, having viewed many homes before choosing Holmwood. They seem to be recruited for their personality and attitude, and this comes across in all that they do and in the care that they give. They interact with the residents and make their lives enjoyable. The home is very welcoming to families - my Mum joined in with activities when visiting Dad. They had some really good times together at the home, and Mum said she never walked away after a visit wishing Dad wasn't there or regretting placing him there, which says everything. An exceptionally good home for a loved one.

My mum has been at Holmwood Care Home since 2013. The management and all the staff are very welcoming, polite, and nothing is too much trouble.
Mum receives excellent care from the staff with respect and affection. The home also has an excellent local GP.
The home is spotless and decorated to a high standard. The meals are good, and there are plenty of activities for the residents.

I am so glad I found this place for mum, and I know that even when I cannot visit she is well cared for.

Mum spent 2 years and 8 months at the care home until her death in May 2016. She was very well looked after and formed some very good relationships with staff, which I think helped significantly during the later stages of her illness. I cannot fault the care she received and have no hesitation in recommending Holmwood Care Centre.

Within minutes of my initial visit to Holmwood I knew this was where I wanted my sister to be. The welcome of the place with it's light wood grained flooring both warm and practical, the cleanliness and well thought out decor, the individual en suite bedrooms and comfortable communal areas, the beautifully designed sensory room which excercised a calming effect the moment I entered. The staff are one and all the most friendly and caring people one could hope for with a therapy programme better than any I've witnessed before. My sister may no longer have the ability to express her emotions verbally but she responds to the stimulation of her surroundings.

Dad was admitted to Holmwood in December 2015. Holmwood was recommended. When looking around it residents visitors spoke very highly of it. Dementia takes away from the individual their ability to often communicate and give feedback re the care they are receiving. Therefore that trust goes on you the family to know you've given the one you love the best care they can have, when home is no longer an option. Day or night never heard raised voices. Always observed the staff taking time and patience with each person. We could see from my dad - his weight increase - how he looked - well presented - feedback from staff that he was getting excellent care. Kept the family informed of any issues. Spoke with us on anything we felt may be useful for staff to know to make him feel as comfortable as possible. Also in what turned out only to be a couple of months the excellent medical care from the GP service. All staff very approachable. No regrets - excellent choice thank you

My mum went into care in February 2014. Since then her health has taken a turn for the worst. We had to put mum in various care homes but we weren't happy with them. My mum then got a place at Holmewood, what a difference Holmwood has made to my mum, you cannot fault Holmwood. The management, and all the staff, cannot do enough for my mum. Even if we don't visit we know mum is looked after and doesn't want for anything. Everyone makes you feel welcomed. Can't thank all at Holmwood enough for looking after mum. Holmwood isn't a care home it's 'home from home'. Thank you all for all you do for mum.

Dad arrived at Holmwood confused and frightened which could present as anger but very quickly he felt safe, understood and respected by the experienced and caring staff at Holmwood. Dad's kept busy with activities and trips. His opinion is asked for and valued. As a family we feel very supported and have made many new Holmwood friends.

Our Mother has been in Holmwood for a few months. She has settled into her lovely room in this well run establishment. The staff are excellent, Mum is well dressed and cared for, and has been provided with all the required aids to suit her needs at no cost to the family. The staff deal with any queries quickly and respond to health care needs promptly. Mum could not be in a better place and our family has been able to relax knowing she is well cared for.

Holmwood is a wonderful care home. Over 26 years I visited mum everyday to ensure she had the best care possible. Since moving to Holmwood I have such confidence that I can visit less often. The home is always spotless, the residents are happy and the staff really care. Nothing is too much trouble. There is always a kind word from the manager, cleaners, carers and housekeeping staff. Well done and thank you. I thoroughly recommend Holmwood and thank my lucky stars, mum lives here.
