I have put July 2019 for my review date but my mother-in-law has been at Mill Lodge for around 4 years now.
When she moved in the home was under Care UK and has at the end of 2019 been taken over by Zenith.
They have already made massive changes. The home has been redecorated and has now got social
media so family can speak face to face with relatives when unable to visit. Staff numbers seem to have risen also which is good.
The manager is a lovely guy and all his staff are fabulous. The staff are on everything and ring up to make sure family are kept in the loop so to say. The team in the kitchen have always made lovely meals. From full Sunday lunches to buffet lighter meals. We went for Christmas dinner 2019 and it was lovely.
As a family we are always made to feel welcome when visiting (even with two young children who do, on occasion, get fed up and run around and have to be told not to)
The staff are great they always offer drinks and ask the children if they would like juice.

My sisters and I are so happy with the high level of care my dad receives. The manager and his team are efficient and thoughtful. He and the nurses are very good at keeping us informed of everything with my dad. His good days and his not so good days. They made him a cake for his birthday and sang happy
birthday. It’s the little things that matter as well as the big stuff. Overall I can finally sleep at night and not feel worried as my dad is in very good hands. Thank you so much to the team.

All the staff at Mill Lodge are brilliant, they’ve really welcomed my dad and helped him to settle in.
My dad moved into Mill Lodge the week that lockdown began, which meant that it was unsafe for us to visit him. The staff are so lovely that he hasn’t felt homesick at all and they have kept us updated
with his well-being and sent us pictures. He felt instantly relaxed and safe there and after 2 days he rang and told me how good the carers are. He enjoys the food and has a really nice room, with lots of natural light and a good view of gardens and streets that are familiar to him.
It’s a really difficult decision to move a family member into a home but the staff at Mill Lodge couldn’t have done more to help that transition and I can highly recommend them.

My father stayed in Mill Lodge Care Home for approximately ten months until he passed on May 4th. The carers and nurses went above and beyond in looking after my dad. They were caring, friendly and always professional. In the end, Dad thought of Mill Lodge as his home and his carers as family. I cannot
recommend Mill Lodge highly enough.

Always pleasant when I visit staff are really good, they are always there for my mum, they really are great. The staff always ask how I am. The staff always asks how I am. The staff are always there to offer me a cup of tea, all the staff from all departments are helpful.

My wife has been coming for a number of years for respite. My wife is very happy on respite, she knows the staff and the staff know hot to handle her. I cannot praise the manager and all his team enough. My Mum came to Mill Lodge as, basically, palliative and over her time there, thanks to the dedication of all the staff has blossomed and thrived and now leads a full and active life. She is 87 years young! I always feel so, so welcome when I visit,
I'm always greeted with a smile from all staff and the atmosphere is so homely and family orientated. Mill Lodge is wonderful!

My mum has been in Mill Lodge for 3 years. The management and staff are all lovely. Mum is very settled and happy. They all look after Mum from carers, cleaners to management. Mum doesn't talk but all the staff understand her. I am very happy with the home. I would tell all my friends and family that
it's a nice place to put their relatives if the need arises.

My mum has been a resident for almost 3 years now, she has put on weight and is very happy and content. Was not good when she first came to Mill Lodge weighing only 51/2 stone, with TLC from staff and management she's now over 7 stone. The residents are very cared for. I am so impressed with Mill Lodge

I would like to congratulate Mill Lodge, on the excellent nursing care received by my mum.
The staff are so friendly and always have time to sit and have a chat with her, especially if she is not having a good day and a bit upset.
Mum requires 24hour nursing care and has difficulty communicating
with staff, but they are all very caring and patient and will sit with her and ask her why she is upset until they get to the bottom of it.
Mill Lodge have an excellent activities coordinator, although mum cannot take part in some of these activities, she is always made to feel she is part of the family and will watch what is going on, she loves to see any entertainers that visit the home too.
Mum has gained a lot of weight since moving into Mill Lodge, this is down to the excellent nutritious meals, prepared for the residents and the snacks they receive morning and afternoon.
The management and staff are very approachable, any concerns are dealt with straight away.
Mill Lodge is a Happy Home.

I am so impressed with Mill Lodge Nursing Home.
My mum has been a resident for the last 20 months, suffers from Alzheimer's and a slow-growing brain tumour. She is tube fed.


When mum entered the home she was not in a good mental state. She was anxious, suffering from sundown syndrome which made

her pack her bag every evening. She was at a very unhealthy weight 7st 8lbs.
Now after 20 months of dedicated care, she is content and never packs her bag. She weighs 8st 12lbs now. The most she's weighed for 10 years. She's 93.


Today when we visited, she was sat happily chatting with one of the carers who stopped and chatted with us too. She was dressed well, her room was lovely, clean and tidy.
Since coming into this nursing home she has thrived. The staff are amazing, so kind and caring. I am so impressed with Mill Lodge Nursing Home.

Wonderful, caring staff with a clean environment. The staff never know when we turn up to see mum. When we do, she is cleanly dressed with her hair done. Room is clean with great staff.

Both I and my mother are happy with nursing care. When she fell during early November (which she created herself by trying to go to the toilet without a member of staff to assist) The staff on duty at the time called an ambulance service to check her over. So well satisfied, also food good.

I started my career as a carer in the UK in 2009 and got my nursing qualification in 2012 and worked my way through the ranks. I became a unit manager in a 42 bedded nursing dementia home in Cheshire East before relocating to Leeds and eventually landing my feet at Mill Lodge. I started as a bank nurse in Mill Lodge in 2017 and became home manager in 2019.


I am very passionate about the delivery of high standard care, dementia care, and end of life care. I love walking through Mill Lodge at the beginning of the day, seeing colleagues and having a chat, and getting the day off to a good start. I enjoy catching up with residents during the day, talking to them and finding out what they’ve been up to.


On my day off, I love to go on walks with my labrador, Dexter, who is now becoming very popular at Mill Lodge.

Hello!


I'm Dexter - mascot/bacon eater/toast thief! I'm the manager's dog. Even though he is the home manager, I run the home. I am more well-liked by both residents and staff than him.


I have been coming here since I was 14 weeks old and I have been to a lot of mischief, too! I try to behave sometimes especially when my human is around.


A lot of the residents find me amusing and a lot of them also find me therapeutic. My human told me I seemed to have a knack for comforting other humans, easing their loneliness and boredom. I know which rooms I can go to for treats. Crumbs on the floor? No problem!


Anyway, I hope I get to see you here at Mill Lodge soon! Please bring some treats!
