The report continues to highlight the positive attention to care through personalised and holistic care-plans to meet each resident's needs and wishes. This quintessential delivery of care remains a strong point, as was highlighted in the report, and embodies Norwood House's aims of 'understanding care and practicing compassion'.

The staff were very kind and understanding under some very difficult circumstances. It takes a very special person to look after the poor lost should and you seem to have that quality in your staff! The only problem was it wasn't close to our hometown. Our lasting memory was Christmas at Norwood House
where we shared carol service, father Christmas and a beautiful buffet. Thank you.

An excellent nursing home. Very caring treating service users with dignity and compassion. No problem was too small. Service user enjoyed meals, she was able to have her hair done even though she was end of life. All her needs were met, staff wee cheerful and very caring. All our questions were answered.
The home is very clean and tidy and no odour. Always plenty of staff available and buzzer answered promptly.

My brother was supported by the care team and was offered excellent care and compassion. Welcomed into the home, despite what was challenging behaviour and all the staff became very close to him and welcoming him into their hearts.

I have been so impressed with the commitment given to ensuring his

physical, mental and emotional needs were supported.

I know the team have given over and above and I am so grateful to them all for their love and understanding to not only my brother, but us as a family.

When my father-in-law first visited Norwood House we were very impressed by the knowledge, empathy, professionalism and friendly nature of the staff and management. As you can imagine, finding a nursing home for my mother-in-law was an emotive and complex time for me and the rest of my family. We looked
around a number of nursing homes but when we visited Norwood House we all felt more at ease. Having mum cared for at Norwood House has made this transition from home care to residential care easier and less worrying. The whole team at Norwood House work to provide a bespoke service to the resident with the safety, dignity and choice of the resident being at the forefront of all they do. The bedrooms are clean and spacious, the communal areas are many offering residents the choice of where and with whom they sit. The care given is second to none.

Since my husband admission to the home the staff have been very supportive settling him in. The home always smells fresh and the residents look well kept. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Always offering drinks and snacks. I travel from Shipley to see my husband and I am allowed to stay as long
as I want. If I have any worried of concerns the manager and nurses are very supportive and reassuring. I could not have asked for any better care for my beloved husband. Fantastic view and area from his bedroom window.

After struggling as a small family with much loved mother-in-law with physical problems and declining memory, arriving at Norwood House, the staff were very supportive and understanding towards the whole family, and constantly supported us with the transition of our mother. The environment is very clean,
and well maintained on a high standard, my mother's room is always clean, and personalised to her liking, the home has a welcoming homely atmosphere, and with the dedication of staff they manage to nurse our mother to good health after she was very ill.

Mum was at Norwood House for a few weeks this year. She had a clean, bright and airy room. We had a warm welcome to the home. I felt straight away she was in safe, caring hands. Her end of life care was exemplary. I can't begin to describe how kind and professional everyone was to my daughter, myself
and of course to mum. We had time with mum but never felt alone. Mum was actively cared for to the end. Mum had a long life and a good death. It could not have been better. Thank you Norwood House.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (9.023)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (9.023) out of 10 for Norwood House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.717 for Norwood House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (43 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.717
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.306 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Norwood House Nursing Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 31 registered maximum number of service users is 6.2. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.2 = 0.806
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
