My mum has improved greatly while being at Aden Court however her mental health is not great. I think that now the visitors are allowed back in this could help. I understand that the booking in of visits is necessary however why it has to be done days before is not necessary and can be inconvenient
due to work commitments. Hopefully, now restrictions are easier more activities and entertainment can hopefully happen. If more activities were available she may take part. All the staff are excellent and caring and do their best but are overstretched. The rooms are clean, the food is of a good standard.

Thank you for this review, we wholly appreciate how challenging this time has been with the restrictions on visiting as a result of COVID, and that as restrictions are easing we look forward to when we can introduce a more open visiting process whilst maintaining the safety of our residents in line with Government guideline. My Mum moved into Aden Court in June 2021; she settled quickly and we noticed a great improvement in her; she was no longer anxious and we could see that she felt safe and comfortable. The staff are lovely, dedicated, caring and my Mum is always complimentary about the care she receives. When we visit,
the staff have always been welcoming and pleased to keep us informed of any updates.

The home has remained safe for mother all through the pandemic which I am thankful for. My mother is very well looked after by the home, she is 103 years old, in good health and is eating very well. Overall she looks and is very well.

I was very unhappy about the state of my father's room; though clean, furniture falling apart, very dark and couldn't even sell it in a charity shop. I couldn't fault the Entertainment Manager she is amazing and I can tell my father trusts and likes her. But I feel so sad that after all his life my
Dad has worked very hard to give his family a lovely home and ends up in this very below standard room.

The carers are very good. They do their job well.
The meals are always hot when they had been brought up to the rooms as well as the drinks. Plenty of good food.
The management get on top of things quickly.
The nursing side is very good.
The rooms can do with painting. The old furniture in the rooms
do not do the rooms justice.

Since my father arrived in early June, the staff have taken their time in understanding my dad and his care needs. He feels extremely comfortable which is good as he was very unsure of leaving his home that he has lived in for 50 yrs. The staff are considerate of his needs both medically and as a human

I found all the staff friendly and helpful, the matron/manageress is delightful and caring.
When I arrive, staff can always tell me exactly where I will find my friend.
Like all people of my age, I would hate to have to go into a "home" but if essential, this would be a preferred choice of residence

From the first visit to Aden Court to assess my mother in law's needs, we were treated with understanding and compassion.
My mother in law's transition from hospital was handled well and she was settled in and cared for with the utmost professionalism.
More than that, the carers provided a real feeling
of belonging.
My mother in law sadly passed away at Aden Court but the dignity and care that was shown to her and us as a family during this difficult time will never be forgotten.

Mum became a resident with nursing care in October 2017. She has been well looked after by all the care staff and nurses who always treat her with dignity. The home is well led by the management team who are very supportive of residents and also the resident's family.

When we moved our mother into Aden Court, the staff made her and us feel welcome and comfortable straight away. The staff (all areas) do a great job and provide a great service we feel our mum is looked after very well and with dignity. The manager and nurses are very approachable, they listen to any

My mother lived in this home for 9 months following a cancer diagnosis. She was looked after with love and kindness by everybody. When the end came the staff were extremely good with my wife and me. We can't thank them enough for making sure my mother was treated with dignity and kindness during her
last difficult months. We would have no hesitation in recommending this home to anybody.

On paper, the Aden Court "requires improvement" and that is probably because the pen pushers behind the clipboards have - fortunately for them - never found themselves in a position where they need to rely on the nursing care profession to look after a loved one. As a family, we found the Aden Court
to be a nursing care home from home which made the process and decision making easier for us to deal with. The carers are absolute handpicked diamonds. The nursing team are caring and compassionate. The chefs and kitchen team care about what the residents want to eat and create amazing tasty food - and lots of empty plates. The cleaning and laundry team are lovely people and are just like the neighbours you'd be lucky to have. The manager is like a mother hen who wants the best for everyone who walks over her threshold - residents and their families alike - and is relentless in achieving this. It's always difficult for a family to hand over the care of a loved one because there is an intense feeling of failure and defeat - but sometimes when other agencies let you down - its the best, safest, kindest thing to do. The Aden Court isn't perfect, but very few things in life are. Would I recommend the Aden Court to a family who wants their loved one to be looked after in a safe, comfortable, caring, clean nursing home and with respect and dignity - yes most definitely I would.

My husband spent his last few weeks of life being cared for by the amazing staff at Aden Court. I would like to go back and visit them all again because of the superb job they did with him and the excellent care they took of me, but as yet I haven't been able to stop crying long enough. I think of every
one of them as my friend.


Having to part with a loved one because of illness is a dreadful thing, and more and more of us seem to be having to do it nowadays, so to know that the place they are in is trustworthy and good is a great relief. I think Aden Court is just such a place.

Lisa Boyd

Job Title: Home manager Joined: 2009

I have worked in the health and social care sector for 30 years. I started my career in the care sector as a care assistant, progressed to senior, care manager then home manager in 2009. I did get promoted to regional manager for over 3 years and although I enjoyed the role, and learnt a lot, my passion was being a home manager.


Working alongside supporting and developing my team whilst prompting good quality care for our residents is what drives me, along with having good solid relationships with other professionals.


My greatest achievement is getting a diploma in my manager's qualification.


We are very passionate about End-of-Life care for both families and their loved ones, we work very closely with the hospice palliative team.


We have strong values at Aden Court – Compassion, Aspiration, Respect & Empowerment.
