Oaktree Hall & Lodge is a residential home providing specialist dementia care, day care facilities and respite care.

The extended Georgian manor house is set within five acres of grounds, built on the edge of Bessingby village which lies on the outskirts of Bridlington.

Accommodation is provided in single occupancy bedrooms and some double rooms, a number of which have en-suite facilities. Hospital beds, air mattresses, pressure cushions along with other aids, can be offered to make each residents stay more comfortable.

Oaktree Hall & Lodge’s approach to residential care focuses on ensuring that a wide range of activities and social events are regularly organised, such as functions and events, film nights, card and board games and many more. Birthdays of residents are always celebrated.

The home takes pride in providing tasty, tempting meals for residents. Mealtimes are regarded as enjoyable social occasions for most residents, although those who wish to eat their meals in their own rooms are enabled to do so. Each resident will be asked for their individual food preferences as well as their cultural, religious or health needs and these will be taken into account when planning menus.

I come and see my mum once a week. I find the staff very helpful, always polite and chatty. My mum is always looked after, eating well and drinking with the help of the staff, who are also washing and cleaning her each day.

When I come to see Mum, I know Mum is being looked after and well cared for. Staff always greet us with a smile and a warm welcome. Mum always says she is happy.

My dear aunt came to Bessingby Hall in February 2021, her stay ended when she sadly passed away on 10th March 2022. Throughout her stay, she received 1st class care. She was very complimentary about the staff's caring attitude towards her. My aunt never complained and the staff enjoyed looking after
her. Her end of life care and subsequent passing was full of dignity with a personal touch. At the age of nearly 97, this was very fitting and deserving. Thank you to all the staff at Bessingby Hall.

So much I do not know as I have been unable to be with my uncle in his room as I did for a short period before covid hence so many satisfactory crosses. The staff do their best at a difficult time. Management well, I don't always get to know of changes before they happen. The care plan was drawn up
at the start but I have never had a copy although requested. My uncle says he is established and food good and I know he is safe and warm but regret he sits in his room so much. He does have a telephone in his room with the managements help which is good and we can chat.

My husband was to go into the home for respite for 2 weeks but in that time I had a very bad fall and was in hospital for a year. My son and I were to go and look at other homes but that never happened so now my husband may have to stay there.

My Dad initially went to Bessingby Hall for respite but he settled in so quickly and his overall health improved so much that we decided that it was better for him to stay rather than go back home, and we weren't wrong! Dad sadly passed away at the beginning of May after a sharp decline in his dementia.
Throughout his time at Bessingby Hall we were amazed at how the staff looked after and cared for their residents. As I live some distance from Bessingby I was able to arrange 3-way conversions and facetime calls during lockdown which was extremely reassuring and enabled me to get a glimpse of life in the home. Dad started having a number of health issues a couple of months ago and my brother and myself were kept informed at every step. In the last few weeks of Dads life the staff's care and thoughtfulness for both my Dad and the family was second to none. Making a very difficult and sad time a little easier to bear.

It's a worry when you have to leave a loved one in care, you wonder if she will be alright, will she be afraid, will she feel alone, how will she manage? Well, I can honestly say that all my fears and worries have gone thanks to the staff at Bessingby Hall. COVID has been a terrible time for everyone
but the commitment and dedication shown has been second to none. My lovely mum was diagnosed with COVID in hospital and I was contacted by a doctor to be asked if she would like a chaplain! Mum was sent back to Bessingby, not expected to last much longer. It's now been more than nine weeks and mum is remarkable! And this is all down to the manager and two other members of staff who were totally amazing at assessing mum and recognising her individual needs. I would just like to say the biggest thank you ever to everyone at Bessingby for making me feel that my much-loved mum is in the best care possible and that's because they do care! Finally, to the manager, you are a star, thanks for the video calls.

Cannot thank the staff enough. They looked after my dear old lady friend (88 years) as if she was part of their family. Sadly she passed away after a short illness. Lovely people doing a very difficult job.

My father was a resident at the Hall from May 2019 until the beginning of December 2019, having been assessed as able to return to his own home. I believe that the care provided by all the team at Bessingby Hall is the reason why Dad has been able to go home. Throughout his stay, I found all the care
team helpful and felt confident he was being looked after appropriately. Any issues that arose were dealt with by the manager and team promptly and I found the communication very good. Dad, in his own words "has no complaints" I think he misses the food and the social contact which he found very good. He built up a good rapport with a number of the carers and residents. All in all, it was a positive experience for Dad and we as a family were happy with the care provided.

My husband went into Bessingby in October 2018 with dementia with Lewy Bodies and secondary Parkinsons. He sadly passed away at the end of June having spent nine months living at Bessingby. Throughout the whole nine months the staff, without exception, looked after him with the utmost care. Nothing
was ever too much trouble for any of the staff. At the end of his life, I (together with my sister-in-law) stayed at the home for 6 days and nights. The manager and staff provided us with every amenity (including a bed). During the last week of my husband's life, the staff went way beyond expectations in their care of not just my husband but myself and my sister-in-law. My husband, therefore, had what he had wished for, his wife by his side and a caring and peaceful end of life. I'll be forever grateful to the manager and all her staff for the care my husband received. Also the care they all gave to me throughout the whole nine months.

My father has been made to feel very welcome by the wonderful staff at Bessingby Hall. It means the world to us to know that he is in such a kind and compassionate environment.
The care team have taken the time to get to know Dad’s interests, and support him to enjoy birdwatching and deer spotting
in the grounds, which he loves.
As a close and loving family, this has been a difficult transition period for us, but the staff have been supportive and kind to Mum, who was naturally anxious about leaving Dad at first. The lines of communication are always open.
I would like to offer my sincere thanks to all involved and to publicly recognise the hard work and professionalism extended to my family at this time.

I have visited my brother in law on several occasions in Bessingby Hall. Every time I have visited I have been so pleased with the care that the staff provide. It is obvious he is well looked after, which for a man who always insisted he was clean shaven and didn’t have a hair out of place is very important!
The staff are friendly and helpful and you always feel welcome when visiting! When speaking to my brother in law they are kind and considerate. His room is always clean, as are the communal areas. It is never easy choosing the correct care home but I feel Bessingby Hall is fulfilling its promise to care for my brother in law in the best way possible.

Mum has just returned from her holiday in Bessingby Hall, she has enjoyed her stay making new friends, the staff were all very kind and welcoming. Mum has always been a solitary person not one to socialize or interact readily but the staff have encouraged friendship, given her lots of attention, kindness
and affection and managed dealing with the occasional temperamental outburst.
I know where to book her holiday for next year.
