I would recommend Sycamore Lodge care home with its lovely, homely atmosphere. My mum is a resident here. The staff are very caring and thoughtful. Going above and beyond staying here is like being part of a large family the staff spend time with. The residents during different types of activities and there is often organised entertainment. At meal times there is a lovely choice.

As I am out of the country for a while does not mean have let my care of the resident go without. If anything is required by, I make sure the money is transferred to Sycamore Lodge Care Home. I make frequent phone calls not only to the resident but also to the caring staff at Sycamore Lodge. Staying in touch with everyone does help and I would recommend any families that have moved away, does not mean an end to being kind and considerate to those in care and those that look tend to their needs.
The staff at Sycamore go above and beyond their care of duty, that has always been the case.
This resident has always said happy to be there. Personal TV in the room and plays music with two friends who visit once a week. They are even arranging entertainment for the other residents.

My recommendation for family members is stay in touch on a regular basis because at one time, these residents would have looked after you throughout your life.

My mother has been a resident since 2023, have never had any issues whatsoever. Recently they have introduced a sensory light to my mother's room which seems to have stimulated her from being asleep all the time. The staff and management are excellent, and show, to me anyway, how a care home should be run, showing an interest in all residents and visitors, and treat all residents with great respect and understanding.

My mum recently moved to Sycamore Lodge, and the move was a stressful, emotional time for her and the rest of the family. However, from our very first contact, we have been impressed with the service they provide, their friendly approach, the care they are providing and the professional way things seem to be organised. Mum has said she feels happy and is starting to feel settled. I have been happy, and sometimes amazed to see her progressing to take her meals with others in the dining room and beginning to take part in activities. I am so impressed with the link to her new GP practice and service offered by the Primary Care Network which was accessed by the Sycamore staff on behalf of my mum. As we all begin to get used to this 'new normal ' for our family, I am incredibly grateful to the Management team and staff who have made the transition so much easier for all of us than we ever thought it was going to be.

My mother is 88-years-old and was in the hospital for three weeks and was very ill with multiple health problems. The family was unhappy with her previous care home, and so after looking at care home reviews (CQC website), we chose Sycamore Lodge Care Home, and we were very pleased with the standard of health care, especially that she was so unwell. The staff are warm, friendly and very approachable. Unfortunately, Mum passed away, and the end of life care was very good.

Due to the restrictions imposed because of the pandemic, I'm not able to give more accurate ratings. Whilst we're satisfied and happy that my parents were being cared for, it was obviously understandable that we had no access to the home other than the visitor's room hence the ratings. Otherwise, we're very happy with Sycamore Lodge.

My mother, who admitted following an operation for a fractured femur. Because of Covid regs, I was not able to go inside part from one visitor's room, so cannot comment on facilities or cleanliness. However, Mother was well cared for, and she was treated well. She thought the staff were lovely. She loved her full English in the morning. The staff were very supportive of me as her daughter and carer.

Zuzanna Kubacka

My journey within Marjara Care Group began when I joined the company as a 19-year-old care assistant while studying. From the very beginning, I developed a passion for providing high-quality, person-centred care and supporting older people to live fulfilling lives. Over the years, I progressed through a number of roles including Senior Carer, Clinical Lead and Registered Manager, gaining invaluable practical experience and developing my leadership skills at every stage.

To broaden my knowledge and experience, I took a career break from Marjara Care Group and joined another care provider as a Deputy Area Manager. This role gave me the opportunity to oversee multiple services, strengthen my operational management skills and gain valuable insight into different approaches to care governance and quality assurance. After this experience, I returned to Marjara Care Group as Operations Manager and Registered Manager, where I now oversee the organisation's three care homes.

I hold a Master's Degree in Psychology with Coaching and have completed a Level 7 qualification in Senior Leadership and Management. I strongly believe that effective leadership is about supporting people, developing teams and creating a positive culture where residents receive the highest possible standard of care.

Today, I work closely with each Home Manager and Head Senior across our three locations to ensure our homes continue to provide safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led services. I am passionate about continuous improvement, staff development and creating environments where both residents and colleagues can thrive.

Outside of work, I am a proud wife and mother of two sons. My family is incredibly important to me and helps to remind me every day of the value of compassion, respect and treating every resident as I would want my own loved ones to be treated.

Katy RobinsonJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2013

I began my career in health and social care in 2014 as a Care Assistant, having previously studied at North Lindsey College, where I completed my Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care alongside all mandatory training. From the very beginning, I have been passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care, ensuring every individual is treated with dignity, respect and compassion while supporting them to live fulfilling lives.

My dedication and commitment to providing exceptional care were recognised early in my career, and I was promoted to Senior Carer. In this role, I developed a wide range of skills, including leading and supporting care teams, mentoring new staff, coordinating shifts, administering medication safely, creating and reviewing care plans, carrying out risk assessments, liaising with healthcare professionals and relatives, and ensuring care was delivered in line with regulatory standards. This role strengthened my leadership, communication, problem-solving and decision-making abilities, while reinforcing the importance of delivering consistently high standards of care.

In 2022, I was promoted to Head of Care, where I took on greater responsibility for overseeing the delivery of person-centred care, supporting staff development, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and promoting a positive culture within the home. In 2023, I progressed into the role of Deputy Manager, where I continue to work closely with both residents and colleagues to ensure the home provides a safe, caring and supportive environment for everyone.

Alongside my career progression, I have remained committed to my own professional development. I successfully completed my Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, followed by my Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management.

These qualifications have enhanced my knowledge, leadership skills and understanding of effective care management, enabling me to support both residents and staff to achieve the best possible outcomes.

I am incredibly proud of my journey within the care sector and remain passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of those we support. I believe that compassionate, person-centred care, strong leadership and continuous learning are key to creating an environment where residents feel valued, respected and truly at home.

Nina Jones
Nina JonesJob Title:Front of the House Head Senior CarerJoined: 2019

My name is Nina, although some people know me as Christina—that is my given name, but Nina is the name I prefer to use.

I am 33 years old and began my career in care in August 2019. Shortly after joining Marjara Care Group, I was encouraged to progress into the role of AP. At first, I was sceptical because I didn’t believe the position was right for me. I lacked confidence, was quite shy, and didn’t feel comfortable sharing my opinions. I never imagined myself progressing within the organisation.

Over the years, however, I have grown both personally and professionally. I progressed to the role of Senior and am now proud to be a Head Senior. I believe teamwork is the foundation of my success. Without the support and collaboration of my colleagues, I don’t think I would be where I am today.

I am now much more confident in my role and strive to be someone my colleagues can rely on for support, just as I know I can rely on them. The most rewarding part of my job is providing care for our elderly residents in the same way I would want my own parents or grandparents to be cared for—with dignity, compassion, and respect. I treat every resident as if they were a member of my own family and enjoy building meaningful relationships with both the residents and their families.

I am always happy to help and pride myself on approaching every day with a positive attitude and a smile.

I have successfully achieved my NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, and I look forward to continuing my professional development by working towards further qualifications in the future.
