Thank you for your kind words which have been shared with the team at Berwick Grange. I’m glad your Grandfather enjoyed his time with us. We are working to improve the ‘Cleanliness’ and ‘Food and Drink’ ratings from satisfactory to good or hopefully excellent. Additional Housekeepers are being recruited to maintain the environment and new snack boxes have been introduced on all floors which have received positive feedback and of course, residents are still given a variety of options at meal times.

Steve Edgar is the Registered Home Manager at MHA Berwick Grange, having joined the home in June 2023. A qualified Registered Mental Nurse (RMN) since 1991, Steve brings over three decades of experience in both mental health and care home management.
Steve began his career in psychiatric nursing before spending 20 years with Leeds City Council’s crisis intervention and psychological therapies service, including nearly a decade as service manager. In 2011, he moved into the independent care sector and has since managed a total of seven nursing homes. MHA is the first not-for-profit organisation Steve has worked for—something he feels closely aligns with his personal values.
Alongside his RMN qualification, Steve holds a BSc (Hons) in Applied Psychology, a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling, and a Level 5 qualification in Coaching and Management.
Steve is passionate about team dynamics and believes the best care comes from well-supported, collaborative teams. His leadership style is calm, thoughtful, and inclusive, and he places strong emphasis on kindness, valuing everyone’s contribution, and creating daily moments of joy for people living with dementia. At Berwick Grange, Steve leads a team committed to building meaningful relationships and providing care in a homely, person-centred environment.
