Overall Experience

Dad has been in Maple Lodge for over a year. Dad was taken to hospital on the 5th January 2020 very very poorly. Upon arrival at Hospital it was commented by several different Nursing Staff and Doctor's, how well they could see Dad was cared for and that all his notes were very well written up. We felt we should reiterate the compliments as all the Staff at Maple Lodge work so hard and do a fabulous job of what is a very difficult job looking after residents and families. We as a family receive great support from the Carers and Nursing Staff alike. We'd like to thank you all on doing such a great job.

Since my Dad came to the Maple Lodge care home he has been really well looked after. He came from Portugal, doesn't speak any English and is quite deaf. The staff go above and beyond to make him comfortable and look after him and I would say he is not the easiest to look after. A big thank you to everyone at Maple Lodge care home.

My father was admitted in August due to ill health and from day one, he got looked after like one of the family. He loved it - the staff could not do enough for him and two ladies stood out, although we could not fault the others. Sadly Dad lost his fight on 30th October 2019. Heaven must be short of angels because most work at Maple Lodge. Love you all and wish I could give ten stars.

Pleasant view from the room of grass and trees. Room furniture is adequate. Resident cat, Lexie, visits my room most days, less often when the weather is good.

The activities lady just changed, also the home manager.

A big thank you to all the staff at Maple Lodge for the incredible job they did caring for my father-in-law. He joined Maple Lodge following an illness which meant he needed a wheelchair for mobility; after a short time, he was walking on his own and even skipping down the corridors. The staff have been extremely courteous, caring and compassionate with my father-in-law and members of my family. During our almost daily visits over the past year, we have built up trust and confidence in the staff and observed the interaction between them and him. He was part of the Maple Lodge family group and we have been completely content with the care he received and know that he was happy at Maple Lodge; because he told us often. Sadly, my father-in-law passed away recently and it is a testament to the care and devotion felt by the staff of Maple Lodge that so many of them attended his funeral. We will always be grateful to all the staff for giving my father-in-law an improved quality of life during his time with them; we wish them well in future.

My mother was a resident for three years at Maple Lodge Care Home.
It is a purpose-built facility with wide corridors, a pleasant dining room and a large conservatory.
The staff were caring and friendly.

My mother was treated with great tact, concern and kindness during a difficult period at the end of her life.

Everyone who works at Maple Lodge does everything possible for the good of the residents. It is a bright, welcoming home with excellent facilities. They go the extra mile with activities programme and, where possible, this includes visits to coffee mornings and social events at other venues. The residents receive excellent care and good food. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for residential care.

Since my husband was admitted to the care home, I noticed a big improvement. Things have been changed for the better in running the care home. The house manager is putting every effort into doing what he can to the running of the place to a higher standard and is doing a good job. Very helpful when needing to know about things. Nursing staff very caring, kind and attentive not forgetting the carers, can't do enough for the residents. I am happy knowing my husband has settled in well and gives me peace of mind, knowing he is in a safe and caring place, being looked after. Bedroom very small and not enough space to move round in.

Christianne Job Title:Deputy Manager/Residential Unit Manager (CHAP)Joined: 1998

I have worked at Maple Lodge since 1998. Previous to that, I worked from the age of 14 as a shop assistant and then as a kitchen/dining room assistant. Alongside working at Maple Lodge, I also worked in a pub for a few years. In my caring career, I have gained NVQs 2 and 3 in care, safe handling of medications, moving and handling, team leadership, and first aider, as well as progressing to become the home's first-ever Care Home Assistant Practitioner (CHAP). I live in Catterick Garrison with my two daughters Chloe and Katie, and our cat Timmy.

The thing I like most about working at Maple Lodge is I enjoy spending time with and ensuring my residents are safe, clean, and tidy. I like knowing that I am helping them to enjoy their retirement years in a comfortable and homely environment as much as possible.

I have worked at Maple Lodge since 2001. I started working as a kitchen and domestic assistant at the age of 16 whilst still in a sixth-form college. When I turned 18, I changed over to be a care assistant, then a senior care assistant. In 2013, I took on the role of home administrator.

In my career, I have gained NVQ2 & NVQ3 in care, NVQ2 & Diploma Level 3 in business administration, NVQ2 in customer service, and certificates in dementia care, health & safety and diabetes care.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends, watching TV, going to the cinema, holidays and attending church. I started a degree in forensic psychology in October 2020.

I live in Catterick Garrison and have a dog named Ronnie.

The thing I like most about working at Maple Lodge is seeing the residents enjoy their retirement years.

I have worked at Maple Lodge since 2023. Prior to this, I joined the army at 16 years old and served for 23 years in the Royal Artillery. Upon leaving the forces, I retrained as a plumber. I worked for B&Q as a bathroom fitter before going self-employed with my own business for 15 years. I then closed my business and joined Maple Lodge, as the flexible part-time working week enabled me to spend quality time with my grandson.

In my spare time, I enjoy walking with my dog, going to the gym and trying to keep fit. I also collect and restore military firearms.

I have been married to my wife, Sue, for 35 years, and we have two daughters and one grandson. We have our parents still in our hometowns, Eaglescliffe and Newcastle Upon Tyne, where I was born.

The thing I enjoy most about working at Maple Lodge is that it's a great team and I have been made to feel very welcome by everyone working here. Every day is different; it can be challenging, but it is also very rewarding.

Haley Job Title:Activity Coordinator/Senior Care AssistantJoined: 2016

I have worked at Maple Lodge since 2016. Before joining the Maple Lodge team, I worked as a cleaner at the local army camps. I decided to move into the care field as I always felt, from a young age, when I helped my Nan take care of my Grandad, that caring is what I wanted to do.

Since I started work at Maple Lodge, I have gained my NVQ2 in care, certificates in the safe handling of medication, the principles of dementia care, and an understanding of behaviour that challenges. I am also the home's dementia champion. I enjoy having lazy days with my daughters or spending any spare time with my friends and family. I live in Catterick with my two teenage daughters, Abbey and Chloe.

The thing I like most about working at Maple Lodge is making a difference in the residents' lives, making them feel safe and comfortable. I love the unbreakable bonds I have built with every single one of my residents

I have worked at Maple Lodge since 2021. Most of my previous work experience is in customer service, although I did care in my very first job and decided I wanted to get back into it, and I am pleased I did. I have learnt so much since starting at Maple Lodge, and the current manager teaches me a lot as well. I have almost finished my Health & Social Care Level 2 qualification and also passed my Maths & English with grades Cs.

I live in Catterick Garrison with my husband, David and have five children, Kyle, Kane, Sophie, Jamie and Kieren. Most of my free time outside of work is spent with my family.

The thing I like most about working at Maple Lodge is the different responsibilities given to me with my multiple roles. The manager supports me and hopefully trusts me with jobs being given and getting done, and I like the fact that the manager is approachable. The admin helps me in so many different roles and I know that if I have a problem, I can go to them and get advice. I am very happy at Maple Lodge.

I achieved a B.Sc. in Agriculture in 2008, an M.Sc. in Animal Science in 2014, Business Administration Diploma in 2021, Power Platform Developer (Microsoft certified, 2022), and I am currently studying for my M.Sc. in International Management. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, watching football, travelling, volunteering, listening to music and watching movies.

I am happily married with two lovely kids, a girl and a boy.

The thing I like most about Maple Lodge is that I love the home's commitment to providing high-quality care and support to the residents. I enjoy the sense of community and teamwork that exists here.

I have worked at Maple Lodge since 2023. I previously worked in a bank, serving in different departments such as cashier, customer service, branch account and credit officer. I chose a career in care for many reasons, including being able to make a difference to people, building relationships, flexibility, job satisfaction, and day-to-day variety in a rewarding and high-demand environment.

My educational background is a BSc in Statistics (ABU Nigeria, 2013), and a Master of Science in Statistics (Unilorin Nigeria, 2018), and I am currently studying for a Master's in Data Science at Teesside University.

I am originally from Nigeria and am happily married with one daughter. We all live together in Middlesbrough.

The thing I like most about working at Maple Lodge is the organisation of the home, in particular. The staff at Maple Lodge are loving and professional, and the Administrator and Home Manager are top-notch!

I have worked at Maple Lodge since 2020. I have worked as a ride operator in a theme park previously, but chose to work in a care home for the experience. I have progressed to the role of Cook since I started.

In my spare time, I like to play sports or just hang out with my friends and family.

I live with my parents and four brothers.

The thing I like most about working at Maple Lodge is that the staff and residents are so nice to everyone.

I have worked at Maple Lodge since 2007. Before that, I worked as a chef in a restaurant for 15 years. I chose to change over to working in care as I like to serve and give happiness, especially to the elderly, it gives me satisfaction to be with them.

I completed my NVQ2 in domestic, cleaning and laundry in 2018.

In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, gardening, travelling to different places, hiking and walking.

I live with my husband, two sons and one daughter. My eldest son, Amrit, is 25 years old and in the army. My daughter Srijana is 20 years old and has just qualified as a nurse and will soon start work at a local hospital. My youngest son, Icha, is 10 years old and will be starting his last year of primary school soon.

The thing I like most about working at Maple Lodge is that the place has a very good work environment. My colleagues are helpful and understanding. My opinions are valued and given a prompt response.

I have worked at Maple Lodge since 2022. I used to work in home care for about a year. Prior to that, I worked with children in nurseries and got my level 2 in childcare. I chose to work in care as I really enjoy it and I find it extremely rewarding, not one day is the same, every day is different and brings new challenges. I recently changed over the the domestic department as this suited my family life with a young child.

I always feel I go home having made a difference in the residents' day. I have no qualifications within care yet, but I'm aiming to do my care qualifications soon to better myself and to ensure I'm giving the best possible care to our residents and being the best I can possibly be.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. We go walking around North Yorkshire, as it's such a beautiful place. My husband and I challenged ourselves for charity a few years ago to walk the Yorkshire Three Peaks. I enjoyed the challenge and seeing how far we could push ourselves physically and mentally. I am married to Russell and have four children: a 20-year-old son, Christian, an 18-year-old daughter, Kaitlyn, a 9-year-old son, George, and an 18-month-old daughter, Gabrielle. We also have a dog named Skye.

The thing I like most about Maple Lodge is working together with our team; we are all so close like a family. Also getting to know and build relationships with each resident, listening to them and their stories. I also love how supportive we are, it’s a home-from-home for our residents, and I love every moment.

I have worked at Maple Lodge since 2021. I’m originally from South Wales but am now based here with my husband and two children.

I have worked as a carer in some capacity or another since the age of 21. After taking a break to have my children, I returned to being a carer. I believe that jobs in the care sector are one of the most important jobs there is, and take a great deal of satisfaction at the end of a shift. I have a QCF level 2 in health and social care. I recently switched to a domestic position as my main role, as the hours suit my home life better.

Looking after my two children, one of whom is autistic, takes up the majority of my time, often attempting to balance forming some semblance of a social life whilst trying to cling on to my sanity! But I do enjoy attending my local church on Sundays and helping out with their mother and toddlers group.

The thing I like most about working at Maple Lodge is getting to know the residents and chatting to them about their lives. I also enjoy working as part of a team, and over the years, Maple Lodge has become a familiar home from home. I love how everyone works as a team to ensure that every resident has a great day, every day.
