Sadly, the experience of my Father's respite 10 day stay, was lacking in very basic care.. He wasn't washed, had no change of clothing, including underwear for the whole stay. His false teeth were dirty and the sheet on his bed left stained and soiled The whole experience has left the family very let down. An Initial verbal complaint and questioning about the lack of care was responded by I quote it all being an 'oversight " which made the whole situation even worse. We will definitely NOT use this place again and have issued a formal complaint.

I have visited many care homes during the course of the last few years to see friends and family members. Rivermead is by far the nicest of them all.
It has a warm and welcoming reception area with complimentary tea, coffee and daily cakes for visitors.
The bedrooms are a lovely size and very cosy and warm. The care is excellent and the staff are kind caring and very welcoming to visitors
Meals are catered in a restaurant style dining room with proper tablecloths and cutlery laid as it should be Standards are high which is rare these days.
The home is beautifully clean and does not smell in any way.

Having worked in care myself I know how hard it is to achieve this level of service. It is much appreciated by my family

My Step father passed away in June 2025 . We looked after my mum for a while at our home but it was evident that we couldn't provide the care mum required.
To say it hurt to even consider the thought of mum going into a nursing home was an understatement.
We chose Rivermead because we had been told that the level of care was good.
That isn't what we experienced. It was well above good , it was exceptional
It is clear that all the staff take great pride in their work and are honest and kind .
Even when staff were dealing with the most difficult tasks I was in awe of how their professionalism shone through.
As the months progressed it was clear that due to mums ill health , mum was slowly getting less able to get around and her condition worsened.
Mum spent some time in hospital but we wanted her back home , back in Rivermead.
Mum sadly passed away but the care she received from the staff was more than we could ever have wished for .

Love to you all Paul , Helen and Beverley

My Auntie came here for respite care & decided to stay. She is very happy in her new home. The staff are so kind, caring & professional, nothing is too much trouble for them. They treat each resident as an individual making them feel valued. I live a 6hr drive away so needed help from the manager, she has been amazing & taken a huge weight off my shoulders. Well all work together to ensure my Aunie is happy, safe & well cared for.

My father was a dementia resident in another private care home. He was extremely anxious and agitated and in poor health. We moved him to Rivermead to be closer to us in Malton. Barchester were excellent in arranging a fast assessment of our father who was in Evesham. Sarah and the team sourced an ideal room that met his needs and we were able to move him quickly. The care has been fantastic and my father's mental and physical health has improved incredibly. He is no longer anxious and has his sense of humour back and is beautifully settled.

Nothing but praise for this wonderful, welcoming care home. Staff are very professional, so caring and helpful. Mum settled straight away, has a lovely room and plenty of space to walk around, including an enclosed outside area. Relatives can come and go with ease, with tea/coffee making facilities. So pleased Mum now has the care she deserves in the right place for her.

My father had to go into care due to both dementia and prostate cancer. The manager is an amazing manager, so caring and understanding and made this process non-stressful and as easy as it could be. A truly fantastic asset to the company. The unit leader has just been the best caring for my dad. Thank you so much.

My late father spent the last 18 months as a resident in Rivermead. We couldn't have asked for better support for him - the nursing care is second to none. Dad had lost the use of his legs due to a spinal injury (before admission) and he also had complex medical needs. He was treated with utmost respect and dignity, with constant liaison between Rivermead Nursing Team and his GP. Every effort was made to give him a fun Christmas too! The kindness to us all as a family will never be forgotten.

She has been pleased with Rivermead and prefers it to the other homes she has been in. Just 1 thing to bring up she is able to walk with a frame but she does need to walk a little everyday to retain her mobility. She has not been walking on her 2 previous visits because it was deemed too dangerous. Her physiotherapist says that if required she will send a letter explaining that she can walk ok.

Mum was moved to Rivermead Norton on the 14th February 2025 where she had a lovely room overlooking the garden and fields with horses, squirrels and a hen. The care was extremely good she was assisted with all her needs from bathing to feeding. After spending 7 weeks in hospital it was a huge relief to the family so we could spend a lot more time with mum. We were made welcome anytime of the day so the whole process was made much easier for everyone. Thank you to all the staff.

As my gran was funded by the local authority, she was moved to Rivermead against my wishes in 2023. I would urge anyone seeking a care home for a loved one with dementia, to look elsewhere. There was no care in this 'care' home, in my opinion. Please see beyond the fake smiles and fairy cakes. I believe the manager lied to me on several occasions, which led to a complete breakdown of trust. My gran was always hungry and thirsty when I visited. No one available to even get her out of bed most of the time. She wasn't treated with dignity or respect. She constantly had dirty hands and eye infections. In my opinion, she was extremely neglected. When I requested for a GP to examine her, this was not acted upon. I believe Rivermead have staffing issues,(previous CQC report also mentions this). They are heavily reliant on agency workers who referred to my gran as 'him' then laughed, yes laughed, when I asked if my gran had gone on end of life care. Incompetent, toxic management team, in my opinion.
