I cannot fault the standard of care here at Kenton Manor. My father is happy and well cared for. Would definitely recommend Kenton Manor to anyone who asks. My father has settled in well and his little face lights up when he sees the doctor. Thank you all - p.s. I also love that they allow pets in the home and can see how happy the residents are to see them!!

Our mam was in a couple of other homes prior to being moved to Kenton Manor. The difference in her is wonderful to see, she is way more settled. This is all down to the staff, the way they are meeting her needs is great. It has been a journey for our family seeing our mam the way she is. The staff have been brilliant in getting her settled which has put our minds very much at ease.

My aunt is currently a resident here and I'm very pleased with the care she receives. The staff are attentive, kind and genuinely compassionate. Whenever I've requested something to be done, such as toenail cutting or changing her flooring, they have always acted promptly. The home is run by a very good manager who is attentive and ensures the staff are well supported. It gives me peace of mind knowing she is safe and well cared for.

Mum moved here after her last care home could no longer cope with her worsening dementia. We were very upset about her having to move but as soon as we viewed Kenton Manor we knew this was the place for her. She has been there for 3 months now and is so happy and settled. She settled in immediately and loved her room. Mum has very complex needs but is a happy soul and the staff are so good at dealing with her when she becomes agitated. Mum has lots of freedom to roam on her floor which she enjoys as she is very curious and aware of her surroundings. We are allowed to take her on both of the other floors which she always enjoys and the residents cafe on the ground floor is just like a regular cafe. It has a coffee machine and tea and coffee facilities and access to the huge gardens. We are really happy she lives there all the staff have been fantastic and always greet her when she's passes and are always available to answer our questions and help with anything. Very caring people.

A lovely mixed programme of Christmas activities was arranged for residents. My mother is reluctant to join in groups, but she really enjoyed the pantomime. We were able to join my mother for lunch on Christmas Day, and staff made us feel very welcome. It is so reassuring to see my mother settling into Kenton Manor and being so well cared for. The regular communication updates from staff are really appreciated.

My wife had advanced dementia (early onset) and was resident in Kenton Manor for 11 weeks until her death on 19th April. The care for my wife was exceptional. Full of love, dedication, commitment and expertise. From the domestic staff to nursing staff and management the shared dedicated to ensuring my wife felt safe, loved, cared for and given the utmost dignity and respect was 100% evident. I can't thank staff enough for helping me endure the last few days where the experience and expertise and empathy of nursing and care staff were just amazing. My wife has serious difficulties of mobility, cognition, personal care and communication for my wife staff always treat her with the utmost respect and patience. Thank you.

My mum became a resident from February this year after a short illness in hospital. Mum is a very anxious lady and from being ill lost her ability to walk and lost her memory. The staff have been amazing in the last five months she has gained a stone and her confidence with staff assistance is improving. My mum loves the staff and especially has a great rapport with the nursing team. As a family we have been treated with respect and support during this emotional and devastating period of our mum's health. Mum never leaves her room as this is her wish, her meals are served in her room throughout the day to make her day less stressful. I can only thank all of the team from management, friendly reception, exceptional nursing team and carers and to the cleaning staff who chat to mum each day. Also a thank you to the handyman who my sister and I have asked on numerous occasions to hang pictures up etc to make her room feel like home.

My Mum is the longest-standing resident in Kenton for 13 years now and we cannot fault it. The staff are amazing, always going above and beyond. They treat every resident as an individual and make the effort to get to know them, their likes/dislikes, their history, and their family members. The staff go out of their way to make family members feel welcome and the newly refurbished family area is great. The staff provide regular updates which is reassuring and are always available for questions and queries. The regular family meetings are a valuable source of support and a way to provide feedback. Mum loves it there; activities, events, the hairdresser and activity coordinator - it is stimulating, a positive environment, and always something to entertain, for all tastes and abilities. We as a family feel very reassured that Mum is being looked after, being kept healthy, secure, safe, and clean - we couldn't ask for more. The staff who really take pride in delivering the best care possible is impressive. Thank you.

Mam is so happy at Kenton Manor and has been since she moved there in 2022. Our family visits regularly so we know the management team and staff really well. They are loving and caring towards Mam and give us regular updates if any changes in her behaviour or when she is unwell. The carers are all permanent staff now so we have a good relationship. Dad was well known too as he visited Mam most days and he always got a lot of attention, which he loved. Dad suddenly passed away on 13th December and the home have shown us all so much love. Mam doesn't know as it's kinder not to tell her. We visited Mam tonight and she looked beautiful in her new PJs. We sang together with the staff and residents watching the music channel. Thank you everyone at Kenton Manor for helping my family get through this difficult time.

Mum was in Kenton Manor as her mobility had deteriorated and her needs could no longer be met where she had been living. Kenton Manor appears to be mostly staffed by agency staff who do not communicate with compassion or skill to the residents. Daytime care is delivered through having all residents in the communal area so one staff member can watch many people. They refused to support Mum to stay in her room (which is her preference), meaning where people spend their day is not client-led but reactive to staff choice. I asked about fall monitors as I understand falls risks, which they refused. There were many points of care that appeared not to regard client needs or wishes. I have worked in care homes and am familiar with the moving and handling equipment. It was consistently used incorrectly and was therefore unsafe, this was despite my informing the senior staff. The room itself looked tatty, which is actually not a problem if the care is kind and safe. It was not.

My mother was a resident at Kenton Manor from November 2023 to April 2024, where she sadly died following a fall. As a family, we were never happy with the standard of care and of communication from the home but had no choice in placing her there given the lack of good nursing care available for people with her level of dementia. Despite there being some lovely committed care and nursing staff many were agency staff and we found management and the operating company to be uncommunicative and without empathy in dealing with our concerns. It was not surprising to see that the home was downgraded at the CQC inspection (around that time) and poor record keeping/transparency was cited among the reasons. We can only hope that improvements have been made for the sake of the residents although it will take more than new furniture and light fittings to make this a care home where you would willingly want your loved ones to be looked after.
