Dad has settled into Kenton Manor very well. he is a lot happier here resulting in some lovely visits. He enjoys his meals, also peace and quiet in his room. I'm pleased with the care that's provided.

Today I visited my nanna for the first time, I was very nervous as I wasn't sure what to do but once I met the lovely staff they put me at ease. A lovely welcome and Easter celebrations with the residents, as well as Easter bonnets. My nanna's room was spotless and it had all her favourite pictures
up.

My aunt seven months ago lived independently and drove her car and did her shopping with just my sister helping her carry it to her car. Her memory was starting to fail and Alzheimer's was diagnosed. She later had a funny turn, as she called it, and vascular dementia was diagnosed. She deteriorated
rapidly had a fall at home and ended in hospital. After a catalogue of poor care, I brought her to Newcastle and placed her in a care home, very close to me that, I myself had worked in as an agency nurse; I knew the quality of care. I knew that they where never dragging her out of bed at 6am to be up for the day staff. I knew she would be looked after. My aunty last year had no idea who I was, prior to admission she stopped eating and drinking and lost her will to live. After moving to Kenton Manor she has started eating, drinking and now when I visit she recognises me and greets me with a smile. Thank you for bringing her back! This home actually cares.

From my gran being placed in the care of Kenton Manor there has been one thing after another.
The amount of times I have had to comment about my gran's poor hygiene as she uses her fingers to eat, so that is very important. My gran wearing other people's clothing even though name tags were bought.
Care staff not knowing the basic procedures of their job (the worst one was the tipping of my gran's wheelchair with the handles). The latest was the back garden gate propped open with a rock so anyone could enter or leave. I was told no paperwork for visiting or covid results were needed and I haven't filled any out in two weeks now. I was also told on one visit I had to provide my own. I could go on and on.
The lies that go on in that place to cover up mistakes are amazing and every time I complain my visits go down. The change in my gran in a year is heartbreaking as it is most definitely not a good change. If you are looking for a new home for any loved one I would most definitely not recommend it.

When my aunt went into Kenton Manner, I did not know what she was going to be like as she had been in two other homes. But since she’s been there, she is very happy, the care she’s receiving is outstanding, she always looks good when I visit, I know she can at times be difficult, but the staff manage
with care and compassion. I am so happy for her.

I find Kenton Manor a clean nursing home, with a happy atmosphere where residents are treated with dignity. The management is always available to help. The nurses and the staff there are totally dedicated to the needs of the residents.

Kenton Manor is a unique home. It is flexible and relaxed. The residents have choice and support. All-day long residents are free to roam and interact.
Kenton Manor may not tick all the bureaucratic boxes but it works so well for residents and relatives. As a relative, I can visit any time and feel

My mum and dad were very happy here. The staff and management were excellent, treating my parents with dignity and care at all times. The staff took time to engage with my parents whilst carring out their duties. They both ate and slept well and were very contented whilst staying here.

My mother recently passed away in Kenton Manor after a long time living there. She was one of the first to take up residence there and l have to say as a family we have nothing but the highest praise for the wonderful staff who have looked after her over the years. She suffered from dementia for the
8 or so years she was there and received the best care we could have wished for her. We, her family, are so grateful to the manager and her staff. We couldn't have chosen a better place for her to be at the end of her life. Thank you all.

Kenton Manor is usually calm and welcoming to visitors. Residents are moving around quite confidently, staff are quick to give help when they anticipate any difficulty.
The residents are well cared for, I think my husband looks well cared for and extremely well shaved!
The hairdresser is good-natured,
knows patients names and is an asset to the staff. All the staff are kind and helpful (to visitors, other staff and most of all patients!)
Activities are planned every day, there's a good organiser.
The nursing staff are confident, calm and reliable.
it's a very demanding job.
