Appleby Care Home

Appleby Care Home are very caring and are very good at putting relatives at ease. My father has settled very quickly and is well cared for. Staff are approachable, friendly and take the stress away from family. The guilt I felt having to put my father into a challenging behaviour unit has gone. I am reassured he is safe and very well cared for with his dementia and behaviour issues. Staff do not get the recognition they deserve - absolutely dedicated staff. Wonderful!

I can't thank every member of the Appleby team enough for their kindness and excellent loving care they have given to my mam over the past 4 and 1/2 years. They have cared for her as if she was one of their own. Through the tough last year, they kept us informed via FaceTime and phone calls and photos so we knew she was happy. Although her dementia journey is now over I just want to recommend Appleby to anyone looking for the best care for their loved one. It's a home that cares. Thank you all.

Lovely to have a room visit with my father-in-law. He is happy and well cared for. The staff are lovely with him and easy to talk to if we have any concerns.

Appleby Care Home is giving my cousin excellent care. The whole family is very grateful for the care and attention he receives from all the staff. He appears to be happy in the environment and certainly has no complaints.

Our family are so pleased to have found Appleby Care Home for our relative. We cannot praise the care enough. The home is always welcoming, clean and fresh. Staff are at hand to deal with any concerns. We are especially impressed with the fact that Appleby have had no cases of a Covid 19 within the home, knowing that everyone is being well looked after.

I owe every single member of staff at Appleby Care Home thanks from the bottom of my heart for the loving care and support they have given to my father. Everyone goes that extra mile which makes his life so comfortable and us the peace of mind that he is in the safest of hands. He is well supported with his unique needs and his quality of life has been enhanced since he became a resident here.

Mam went into Appleby as an emergency admission, not really giving any of us time to adjust to the situation, which was stressful and upsetting for us all. However, from the moment mam went in it has become home from home. Every single member of staff we have encountered are amazing. You can tell that this is much more than turning up and doing a job - they really care. The staff are welcoming, helpful, showing kindness and compassion for the residents and visitors alike. Mam is well cared for, always dressed and clean. The home is spotless. She is encouraged to join in with the activities or just enjoy the company with a cuppa in the lounge. So thankful for all they do, even more so during this difficult time. It is reassuring to know she is settled, happy and so well cared for. The mother-in-law has told us this is where she wants to go - that in itself is a recommendation.

My experience has always been a positive one as I find the staff kind and friendly and considering the job they do they are always cheerful. The carers are always aware of the needs of all the residents and inform relatives if anything is wrong with the resident they are visiting. I am totally happier now as I know my wife is being well looked after, getting showered regularly and hairdressing as well as a chiropodist calling at Appleby.

My husband has been in this care home for the last 18 months. He had really challenging behaviour and eating problems. The staff have worked really hard with him to solve his eating and his behaviour. The whole team in Larchwood work very hard. The staff have been very supportive of my husband and me. You can always speak to management, nurses and doctors of any concerns I have had. My husband is really settled in this home and is happy in his own world. I cannot praise all the care staff enough for the difficult challenges they face on a daily basis, they are always so happy.

Since my wife was first admitted to Appleby Care Home I have nothing but high praise for the love and care with which she has been treated in all respects. God bless you all!

I was very pleased with the care my mam received. I can't fault them.

My family member was in for 1week and was well looked after, I had no problems with anything. The staff were great and so was the management. I could speak to them anytime day or night.

I would like to give the staff, from the manager down to the cleaners, a big thank you for making us feel comfortable in the home when we visit and for putting the twinkle back in my father's eye. It's great to see him smiling again.

Every time I visit I am made to feel part of a large caring family and I am so grateful I chose this Home for Mum.

Despite initial concerns about my mother 'going into a home' from the very first contact with the wonderful staff at Appleby Care Home, we knew that we had made the right choice; the best choice for both my mother and for the family.

Mother's care has been exceptionally good for her 6 months stay and was outstanding as she drew closer to the end of her life. The staff are all competent, empathetic and friendly - without exception. This applies to the managers we met, the nursing staff, administrators, the carers, domestics and handyman. Each and every person was prepared to listen, share advice, understand and be positive about my mother's care. I cannot recollect a single concern where I felt my mother's needs were not being addressed and satisfied.

The family consider ourselves to be very lucky to have found such a magnificent team of people who make Appleby Care Home such a wonderful place to place our trust in. We are very grateful for the collective effort in looking after our mother and feel confident in submitting this very positive review.

The staff have gone above and beyond in the care for my husband and my family.

Since my dad moved here we have all agreed that dad is well looked after which has put our minds at ease. The staff here treat him as part of the family and it feels like I am visiting dad in his own home.

I visited a friend the other day and I would like to say that Appleby is changing inside, for the better. I can see a lot of time and effort is going into making the home a much nicer place, on both floors. I found the staff very friendly and helpful, the admin was able to answer my questions swiftly and professionally and the atmosphere felt much better. When I walked in, it smelt nice and was really clean. I feel much happier now I have been to visit as I can see that my friend is very well cared for and is in such a settled home, I couldn't ask for more. It has improved so much since my last visit around 6 months ago. The only thing I could make a criticism on is the activities, but I was informed that a new team is being put together to cover weekends as well from now on, which I think is a marvellous idea. I saw that there was a minibus outside so who knows what adventures the residents are going to be having in the summer!

She has settled in well and all the care staff have listened to any queries I have regarding her care in a friendly way.
