My mother has now been there for 2 and a half years and in that time, I have always found the staff caring and attentive. The home is clean and free of smell and I believe the food is good and varies. My mother seems to be well looked after and clean.

On Thursday 16th March, at lunchtime, I visited my partner at Maple Lodge Care Home. I was greeted by staff who informed me she had called for a doctor as she was concerned over my partner's condition. The doctor examined my partner and summoned emergency paramedics. At 6 pm her family were called to Sunderland Royal Hospital because of grave concern over her chest infection, fluid on the lungs and retaining her CO2 body gases. Thankfully my partner pulled through. Your employee's skill and prompt action in the first instance played a major part in my partner making a full recovery. We are eternally thankful to her and all the team at Maple Lodge Care Home.

I have never had a problem with Maple Lodge the staff are very caring and attentive to residents. If ever dad had had a medical issue prompt action had been taken to get medical attention for him. I genuinely feel that the staff look after dad as if he was their own father and I can tell that dad likes them too by his interaction with them. He often smiles and gives them a cheeky wink when they are talking to him.

My father has been a resident at Maple Lodge for four months during that time he has been made very welcome and he has settled in well. He gets on very well with all the staff and has nothing but praise for them. He enjoys a bit of banter with them and they are always kind and considerate towards him. They always try to include him in activities although he is sometimes a bit reluctant. Nevertheless they always ask if he would like to join in. I am always kept informed if there are any health issues. Overall we are both happy with his care.

We were warmly welcomed about a week ago when my mother-in-law was transferred from Sunderland Royal Hospital. The staff were courteous and friendly and they quickly made us feel at ease and confident. The whole organisation seemed to have direction and purpose and everyone seemed to know their role and what was expected for them. Everyone appeared relaxed and there was interaction between the staff and residents. My mother-in-law quickly relaxed and joined in.

Dad has been in three care homes, including this one during 2015. He has been the most settled and content in this one. The staff are helpful, pleasant and chatty to residents. The amenities are quite good, and it is good that activities are laid on most days, however some residents remain bored. It might be helpful to arrange for someone to come round with newspapers each day (local newsagent) or even a couple of newspapers left in the lounge. Food seems very good, is there any change I can come for a break myself? The provision of an alarm pendant for residents who tend to have falls would be beneficial.

Staff were fantastic with my mother who was occupying a time to think bed. She has now moved on to be nearer to us but she really appreciated the help that she received. Another fantastic feature is having ensuite rooms which seem to be so rare in other nursing homes, this saves elderly people from having to navigate unfamiliar corridors in the dead of night to find a toilet. Thanks to all concerned.
