My mam has been here since September 2019 and is definitely one of The Mews family. Her carers are always smiling, engaging and treat Mam with dignity. I feel comfortable with The Mews looking after Mam, with a special shout out to senior carers who know my Mam so well. Thank you for your care and empathy.

Both of my parents have lived here for two years and we have found the care to be excellent. The staff are lovely and very attentive. If I was to give some suggestions to improve the home it would be to install foam edging on sharp corners of furniture and dado rails to limit injuries to residents.
Secondly, I would suggest that a member of staff be stationed in the lounge to keep an eye on residents trying to move around.

This is a situation no family wants to find themselves in, but the manager has made it a far more positive experience than we ever expected. From my first visit, it was clear that his approach shapes the care at The Mews. His explanation of the 6 GEMS Approach to Dementia Care showed a real understanding
of the individual behind the condition.

This is my dad's third care home. He has not yet received a formal diagnosis of dementia but experiences significant cognitive difficulties and episodes of delirium. Previous placements resulted in hospital admissions, so our biggest concern as a family was how he would be treated and whether he would be kept safe and cared for with compassion.

What has stood out most is how my dad is supported when he believes he is at work, which happens often. Rather than correcting him, the manager calmly reassures him, again and again, with patience and kindness, while staying grounded in truth. My dad is seen as a person, not a condition.

Amazing home. Amazing staff. They go above and beyond for my dad and all their residents. I know my dad is in safe hands. He is well looked after to an incredible standard. I can't thank the staff enough for the care they give to my dad.

Staff are very attentive and caring. My only issues are both relating to safety. 1. Lots of sharp edges on furniture, dado rails etc. which is not ideal from a safety perspective. 2. In my opinion, as long as there are patients in the lounge, there should be a member of staff, as most are unsteady on
their feet and often try to get up of their seat by themselves.

Improvements in certain areas could made ie decoration of rooms and home in general as quite outdated, certain aspects of personal care such as hygiene/bathing and toiletting needs could be improved on. At times home can be under staffed for residents needs especially in emergency situations when two
staff on.

Upon entering the care home to visit my Mother the new manager came out to introduce himself. He proceeded to ask if everything was OK and if there was anything he could help with. This was refreshing as the last few managers at this home have not been approachable at all or pleasant.
Definitely left
a great impression for hopefully how the home shall return to what it used to be "A Gold Standard".
Vickey is also a great asset as she is really good at communicating and helping when required.
The Care girls (long term ones) have always been an asset and take care of the residents. Unfortunately a lot of the girls have left over the past few years and not many are remaining now. I appreciate the ones who are remaining and care for my Mam daily, they are angels.
Hopefully the home can now have a long overdue refurbishment, as now a little dated - although still clean

My Mam was a resident at The Mews for 20 months. She was always very well cared for and the staff are all lovely. The home is always very clean and tidy, my mams clothes were always washed and pressed so she always looked smart whenever I visited. Mam enjoyed playing games and doing crafts with the
staff, she also made a couple of friends there. I would definitely recommend The Mews if you are looking for care for a loved one

Mother was a resident receiving nursing care at The Mews Care Home. Mam required support for the most basic of needs with tasks often needing 2 staff. They were professional and attentive in this throughout. All staff treated Mam with dignity and were welcoming to us as daily visitors, and I felt I
had joined The Mews community myself. Staff in managerial roles kept us very up to date on Mam's situation and any changes in her care regime. The building itself is clean, bright and well-appointed with a pleasant garden area. Finally, Mam said herself many times that she was being well looked after and that she felt comfortable. This was a genuine relief to her family and friends.

Dad moved to The Mews in September 2024 as he needed nursing care. Staff have taken excellent care of him and we have been made to feel very welcome at all times.
His care is completely tailored to him and his needs are met above and beyond, they anticipate when he needs anything, Dad is unable to
converse due to his dementia and can be difficult so this makes us confident that he is happy.
He is currently very unwell and staff have kept us fully informed of his wellbeing when we visit. Always offered refreshments during our visits.
The care home is quiet and warm, the atmosphere has certainly helped calm Dad in his worst moments. Thank you so much, you are wonderful.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.583)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.583) out of 10 for The Mews Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.583 for The Mews Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (183 Excellents x 5) + (77 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 276 Ratings = 4.583
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Mews Care Home is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
