Some of the experience I have had is some good days and also some bad days, when my husband was in hospital I was glad that he was coming back to the home because he was getting well looked after, some things I have seen have not been up to my standards.
Reply from Bernadette Cromwell, Head of Marketing at The Mews Care HomeThank you for your honest review. We're glad to hear that your husband received good care during his time with us, and we truly appreciate your input as it helps us continue to improve. Your trust and support mean a lot to us.

I have had no bad experience with the care, it has been up to standard. Communal areas need a new upgrade, needs decorating, garden has been neglected, need an activities person for the residents to do more things.
Reply from Bernadette Cromwell, Head of Marketing at The Mews Care HomeThank you for your valuable review. We're glad to hear that your experience with the care has met your expectations. We truly appreciate your suggestions regarding the communal areas, garden, and activities, and we strive to deliver excellence by continuously improving these aspects to better serve our residents.

Amazing care home. My dad has been here a few months now and all the staff are very caring and have plenty of time for my dad which he needs. Nothing is a problem, they always have a smile on their faces. The food is to a very high standard, my dad had gained weight which he needed. A very friendly
care home. Best decision I made. The place is always very clean. Thank you everyone for all your hard work.
Reply from Bernadette Cromwell, Head of Marketing at The Mews Care HomeThank you so much for your wonderful feedback. Our mother spent just over 3 weeks in respite care and we were very pleased with the care and compassion shown to both her and the other residents. Nothing was too much trouble, the standard of cleanliness was excellent and the staff was kind, caring and patient under sometimes very challenging circumstances.

My mother spent 6 Weeks in The Mews Care Home.
Our family had no previous experience of using Care Home services and we were apprehensive when my mother was discharged from hospital and admitted to an assessment bed in The Mews.
We had no reason to be concerned. From the moment my mother was admitted
the staff were attentive, caring and professional. All aspects of my mother’s care and welfare were taken care of with tenderness and understanding.
The quality of care from the nursing, care and facilities teams was exceptional. Catering was first class.
Our family are immensely appreciative of the care provided by every member of The Mews Care Home team.

The lack of trained staff at the moment is concerning, it seems to be new faces every time. Some cannot speak English, which makes it difficult for them to care for residents. Those that do know them on a personal level are great, go the extra mile like sharing takeaways and making sure they get involved
in activities. All too often their residents do not get their time-sensitive medication when they should. The lack of communication is appalling and was throughout Covid-19, meaning not speaking to loved ones or having any updates in a year.

We can not thank you all enough for the care you gave to our Mam, in the last week of her life at The Mews. Everyone made her feel so at home and still managed to give her lots of laughs at this difficult time. There were lots of family visiting and we were equally well looked after with cups of tea
etc. We never felt in the way regardless of what time we were visiting, day or night. Nothing was too much. It's a very difficult job you do, but it's so very valuable and much appreciated. Thank you again.

We visited five different care homes before visiting The Mews. It was immediately apparent that The Mews met all our requirements for the care of my wife who was suffering with Alzheimers/dementia. The care she received was beyond my expectations. All the staff, managers, admin, careworkers, kitchen,
cleaners and activities were all well trained and caring. They are all second to none.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.583)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.583) out of 10 for The Mews Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.583 for The Mews Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (183 Excellents x 5) + (77 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 276 Ratings = 4.583
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Mews Care Home is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
