I visit my friend 3/4 times a week, each time I go always clean and tidy something always going on for residents. Sorry I don't know about money. If I needed to go in a care home, I would like to be considered for Astune Rise Care Home.

A Truly Wonderful Care Home with an Amazing Community Spirit........Astune Rise in Eston is a genuinely special place. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the warm, kind, and homely environment that the staff work so hard to create for the residents.

The activities programme is outstanding,

offering far more than you would expect from a care home. Residents regularly enjoy memorable outings such as the river cruise, seaside trips to Saltburn with beach huts and fish and chips, and even a fantastic steam train journey on the Railway from Grosmont to Pickering. These experiences bring real joy, stimulate memories, and give residents something exciting to look forward to.

The Rolling Activity Plan ensures there is always something happening, whether it's live entertainment, exercise sessions, crafts, or seasonal events. The intergenerational visits from local schoolchildren are particularly lovely and create meaningful connections betw

My lovely mother-in-law was very well cared for by the amazing manager and staff at Astune Rise. Despite having dementia she was treated with care and affection, and so were the family and visitors. Nothing was too much trouble and I have no hesitation in highly recommending this care home.

my mum had dementia and was at Astune care home for around a year.
The staff were amazing with her, encouraging her to join in with the many events that they had.
She was well cared for and supported by all the staff.
It was reassuring to know that mum was so well looked after.

Lovely care home. Staff genuinely care. Always clean and orderly with lots of events on for residents. Always a friendly and welcoming environment when we visit, staff go the extra mile. Pet friendly so we often take our dog to visit my Nana which is a huge bonus as this is something my Nana misses.

My father has been a resident at Astune Rise for 2 years. As a family we made the decision to move my father here because we were so afraid for his welfare. My father has mobility issues and dementia. We chose Astune Rise because of all the outings, fundraisers and general fun things that were always
being aired on the local radio or written about in our local newspaper. My father is treated like a Member of the family in the home, he is spoiled with kindness from management and the whole team. The team are on the ball, the slightest issue is dealt with immediately and professionally and with compassion. My father is busy, there is always an activity, entertainment or an outing. I salute you all at Astune Rise and thank you from the bottom of my heart

Astune Rise "was" a fantastic home in 2023 when both my mother & father became residents. Although seriously outdated & in desperate need for refurbishment it soon felt like home to them. After my mother dying in Dec 24 my father wanted to remain there and thought that's where he would see out his days.
The home is very sociable but it can be hectic but my dad loved it. The food was basic at best with sandwiches, hot dogs which my dad called kids food! Both parents were not happy with some of their care & one of the carers. Dad had unwitnessed falls even though he was in a home for his safety. Dad was asked to leave in Dec 25 whilst waiting for physical & mental to come back!! when dad needed the most care he was let down. Some carers were amazing. Good memories made there were tarnished by the last few months.
Reply from Steve Massey, Operations Manager at Astune Rise Care HomeI am sorry to read of your dissatisfaction and your most recent experience. The Home has gone over and above what was expected of them and the support provided to your father, mother and to you has been exceptional. Sadly none of us have the ability to control changes in conditions and, again sadly, the home was unable to meet the needs of your father. We truly feel your review is tainted by the deterioration in your fathers help needs and, again, there was nothing my team could do about that. It is acknowledged that your father was undergoing some investigations. The outcomes of these investigations would have had no effect on the decision that we were unable to meet his needs. Again we are sorry this has had such an impact on your experience of a fabulous home. Both you Mother and Father are remembered very fondly and are missed.

My mum was looked after in her last few weeks with the greatest of care, the staff were really good and always very plesant. The nursing staff were very good, they were very informative on mums condition and when the time came mum was not on her own 2 members of staff were by her bedside.
I would highly
recommend Astune Rise.

My mam stayed in Astune Rise while I went on holiday for a week. The Staff were amazing my mam couldn't of asked for better care and attention from the staff and manager. My mam was so supported by everyone as she has never stayed in a care home before they made her feel comfortable and at ease. I couldn't
of asked for more from these amazing People.
Thank you

Dad was admitted to Astune Rise for palliative care. The staff were just amazing, treating my Dad with care, dignity and respect. I'm sure they'd would be the first to agree, it's not the smartest care home, yet I would much rather have substance over style any day.

As a family, we felt cared for

and supported and importantly, regularly kept informed of Dad's condition. It's sad Dad wasn't well enough to appreciate all that the home had to offer, and he didn't get to experience what a happy, special place it is.

After many years living alone my mother was very reluctant to move into a care home, however, ill health dictated the need for 24/7 support. This care home came highly recommended and I can understand why! Since moving to Atune Rise she has totally transformed. She is making friends and taking part
in ALL activities provided. Her mobility has greatly improved too, she is a much happier and more social version of herself.

This home is warm and friendly, excellent care is given 24 hours a day. The staff are so friendly and go above and beyond their duties. Activities are wonderful and the residents are kept busy constantly which is a very important factor to keep them motivated and busy and to have outings to look forward
to, also all families are included in these activities, which is wonderful. I feel happy and confident that mum is very happy, safe and I do not worry about her which is a massive factor for me - thank you.

The manager and staff are wonderful, always helpful and caring. My father has settled in so well, he is loving living at Astune Rise. My mum and family were worried about making the decision of Dad having to go into care, but we didn't need to. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, they are always
happy and smiling, polite and professional. This care home is not about staff and residents it's one big family.

My husband was ill for over 2 years with COPD and heart disease. He had good GP care, with ambulatory oxygen from May but deteriorated and was admitted to very busy respiratory wards. He was transferred to Astune Rise Care Home for terminal care and from admission, tensions eased for him and his family.
He had full o2 therapy and six days later died very peacefully after superb care. Family well supported.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.719)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.719) out of 10 for Astune Rise Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.719 for Astune Rise Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (239 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 281 Ratings = 4.719
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Astune Rise Care Home is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
