There is also a good range of activities available, which is lovely to see, and we have noticed real improvements in our grandad since he has been there. It is reassuring to see him making progress and benefiting from the care, support and opportunities provided. It means so much to know that he is being cared for and supported so well.

A fantastic care home, the care they show to my mum is second to none. Always friendly and polite on my visits, staff show support to myself as well as my mum. Knowing that she's cared for and looked after so well makes a very hard situation that little bit easier.

The care for Mum was amazing but equally the support for her family at all times was literally life changing. They took away the worries, the fears and the guilt of moving a parent into care. Over the years Mum was living in Briardene I probably spoke to all the staff who were some of the loveliest people you could meet and always had time for you. A huge thanks!

I would like to voice my heartfelt thanks to everybody. I am always welcomed with a friendly smile from arriving to leaving and always offered a drink,during my visits staff will pop in to see if we need anything. The atmosphere is welcoming and warm with a sense of happiness. The staff are all wonderful and everyone looks cared for. As for my aunt she is treated with dignity and respect and staff show sensitivity and dignity to her needs as she endures her very challenging dementia illness. Knowing your loved one is safe and cared for is a great comfort and I thank each and everyone of you here from the bottom of my heart.

Every where is clean and cleaned twice every day .All staff are proficient and welcoming and pleasant and friendly. The whole building is safe and secure and well looked after. If you report a fault it is rectified as soon as possible if not immediately.

Absolutely first class, my mother is been at Briardene for two years now and as I live 350 miles away it's so good to know she is being looked after and cared for. The staff are amazing and so good to residents. I honestly cannot praise Briardene enough.

Hello, I’m Lisa and I am the Home Administrator here at Briardene. I work closely with the General Manager and the staff, visitors and families with any queries, problems or questions they may have. I assist with the transitioning into the home, whether it be a new resident or staff member and I am always here to help where I can, my door is always open.

I joined the team here at Briardene in 2018 and I have never looked back, it is a fabulous place to work where residents and colleagues are now my extended family. I was in the military for a lot of years and coming to work here really helped me settle back into civilian life. I brought with me a vast amount of knowledge and experience in the Administration field as it has been a huge part of my career from leaving school, however, the training I have received working in a Barchester home has really expanded this knowledge.

Claire Gibson, Dip HE BSc (Hons) Psych and Couns is the Therapy Coordinator and the Head of the Therapy Department, the well-being champion for the staff and The Dementia Champion for the residents at Briardene. The Therapy Team Claire leads consists of an Activities Organiser, a Holistic Therapist and a Music Therapist. Claire supports and guides her team to provide meaningful and enriching interventions that have a positive impact on the resident's Biopsychosocial well-being.
Her approach has very many different levels to it from those residents who can complete a task/occupation from start to finish with minimal support to another resident who may be involved in the group for emotional sensory support using feeling, tasting, smelling evoking memories.
Claire’s ethos is everyone still has the ability it’s how we unlock it to its full potential to have a positive impact on their life and their families. The families see the positive changes and often comment that they can’t believe the difference in their loved ones. Claire’s individual personality and professional approach inspire those around her showing how anything is possible in Dementia with the right approach for the individual resident.
