Overall Experience
My father is currently residing in Briardene Care Home and the care that he is receiving is 5 star.
Every staff member is amazing. They truly care about the residents and have taken the time to get to know our dad. For example, they asked us about his interests when he moved there (he loves gardening) and they took him to a garden centre to buy plants to make a hanging basket with him. This is one example of many! Dad goes out on trips for fish and chips (his favourite), there is an activities co-ordinator who involves dad in a number of exciting and stimulating activities. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. They are warm, friendly and extremely welcoming to all of our family. Refreshments are offered every time we visit.
At Briardene, the hygiene levels are outstanding. Dad's room is always clean, warm and cosy. Dad's personal hygiene standards are kept high, too.
We cannot speak highly enough of staff. We feel extremely lucky that dad gets to experience their care.

Thankyou

Mum was here for a few years and was settled here. The care she received whilst she was there was fantastic. They knew her and her needs, they knew her history. They listened to her. They took her out when able. They involved her with activities. Great communication with family. Food excellent. Care in her last few days amazing, especially care and compassion to the family. All staff lovely. Can't fault.

Since my wife transferred to Briardene Care Home, I have noted weekly the higher standards of personal care that she has been receiving from the attentive care staff of all grades, races and religions.
Her bedroom is always clean and tidy and appears warm and comfortable.

I am personally greeted affectionately on every visit.

I have made many visits to see my friend since he came to Barchester Briardene Care Home over two years ago. During this time, the staff have always been caring, compassionate and friendly towards him over this period. They always appear 'for' the residents, irrespective of their circumstances or degree of incapacity. They always appear self-motivated and positive. They are always very patient with the patients! Working relationships between the staff appear to be excellent too. They are always very friendly and helpful when I speak to them and I really appreciate the cups of tea they make for me.
The facilities are very good and well-maintained to a high standard. Staff always appear busy and this includes caretaking staff who are often seen on my visits.
If I ever succumb to the ailments suffered by the residents at Briardene, I hope that they will find a place for me.

Thank you all for doing such a first-class job for my friend.

Just got back from holiday, went to visit my dad, he looks amazing and is very happy in this care home. Dad has been a resident for almost 2 years at Briardene and before this I could never have gone on holiday and relaxed without worrying the whole time.

Thank you to all the staff at Briardene from the management to the care givers and supporting staff.

I recently visited my mum.
She has been at the home for a few months now and she has settled in very well.
My mum suffers from high anxiety and has many challenging issues linked with the awful disease Alzheimer's which is why she was recommended to be a resident.
I was blown away with the care Mum and the other residents received on my visit.
The staff interacted with her and the others and you could sense a general feeling of calm and that in itself must be difficult to achieve.
Mum was clean and dressed well and she looked healthy. She always took pride in her appearance and the staff have recognised this and helped her in every way for which the family are very grateful.
On my visit, a singer sang songs from the 50s and 60s, all of the residents, including my mum, really enjoyed it, some of them had a dance and many sang along. It's really nice to know that they have these types of activities.

I would like to thank the management and the staff for the fabulous work they are doing.

Since my mam has been at the home she has been looked after really well. She can be very challenging but the staff are always professional & try to meet her needs to the best of their abilities.
Mam has had a couple of incidents which I have been informed of and I have had chance to discuss with the staff & management. This is the third home mam has been in and this is the best by far.

Thank you all for taking care of my mam.

My dad moved to Barchester Briardene Care Home from almost two months in hospital and following one and a half years at a care home. We were initially sad that his previous care home could no longer meet his needs; however, we knew from our initial meeting with Briardene management that Briardene was the best place for him to receive care.

All of the staff at Briardene show real understanding of his dementia and complex needs and are always respectful of his personality and individual preferences. He has been at Briardene for about eight months now and we are 100% confident in the care he continues to receive.

My husband has been cared for at Barchester Briardene Care Home for the last three years, sadly passed away on March 10th. He was in the most wonderful place, I always felt it was a place for both of us. It was my second family, nothing was too much trouble for them. Such loving, caring, warm people with hearts of gold. They all treated my husband with respect and we've seen how attached they get to residents. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Miss you all so much.

My father was a resident at this care home for nearly two years however he recently passed away on the 26th April 2024. During his time at Briardene Dad received exceptional care from what I can only describe as a totally dedicated and totally professional team. The care provided didn't just stop at Dad; it was extended to the whole family every time we visited - in fact it's fair to say that the team at Briardene felt like an extension of our own family.
Dementia is a cruel disease and it is heartbreaking to watch it slowly but surely destroying a person however simple things like Dad always having clean clothes, having a regular haircut, having a daily shave, eating excellent food and living in a clean environment make it all the more bearable - thank you team Briardene for everything thing that each of you did for Dad.

We celebrated Dad's life last week and it meant so much to us that many of the team from Briardene came along to the Crematorium to wish him farewell!

My dad has been here a few years now and the care he gets remains excellent, after having him in a home that was not well-equipped to suit his needs. He is a handful and they take it all in their stride. Love visiting even when he’s not happy we all get through it together, a nice family environment. The food is delicious you can have a meal too with your loved one.

My wife was a resident at Briardene for the past 7 years until she passed away in January 2024. Throughout this period she was shown the utmost care and devotion to her needs from what I would consider to be the most professional staff I have ever encountered in any setting. My background as a social worker gives me a particular insight across a wide range of settings by which to compare. The staff were always kind and considerate to our family members and went that extra mile when we were faced with the loss of my wife. The whole family recognized the quality of the work done by the dedicated staff and will be forever grateful to every one of them for this.

Hello, I’m Lisa and I am the Home Administrator here at Briardene. I work closely with the General Manager and the staff, visitors and families with any queries, problems or questions they may have. I assist with the transitioning into the home, whether it be a new resident or staff member and I am always here to help where I can, my door is always open.

I look after the home’s financials such as Budgets and expenditures, Purchase Ordering, Sales Ledger, Management Accounts and Petty Cash.

I oversee the home's HR processes, recording of staff hours, recruitment and training records.

I joined the team here at Briardene in 2018 and I have never looked back, it is a fabulous place to work where residents and colleagues are now my extended family. I was in the military for a lot of years and coming to work here really helped me settle back into civilian life. I brought with me a vast amount of knowledge and experience in the Administration field as it has been a huge part of my career from leaving school, however, the training I have received working in a Barchester home has really expanded this knowledge.
