Harbour View Lodge is located in the town of Whitehaven and overlooks the harbour. The home is close to shops, amenities and public transport.

This tastefully decorated purpose built home provides accommodation in single occupancy rooms, all of which have en-suite facilities.

Harbour View Lodge provides TV lounges and a quiet sitting room with beautiful harbour views, for relaxation. Separate dining rooms, where residents can socialise at meal times, are also available. Meals based on traditional cooking using fresh produce are served, and residents can select from the daily choices menus available. Special diets can be catered for.

Residents can benefit from the regular visits made to the home by an experienced hair stylist and qualified chiropodist. Complementary therapies can be arranged for individuals. A sensory/relaxation room has also been developed.

The home has an activities therapist who co-ordinates a varied programme of activities for residents.

My Mother became a Resident at Harbour View in February 2025 following a stay in Hospital.
From then to the present my Mother has received an excellent standard of care at Harbour View.
The Staff have helped make this difficult time easier for me and my Mother with their professionalism and the quality
of care she has received.
I have also found the Care given to my Wife to be exceptional and second to none.
At this difficult time the Staff at Harbour View have made matters easier with their care and professionalism. My Wife has been made to feel comfortable and safe and she is enjoying her stay there in Respite.
I would not hesitate to recommend Harbour View to anyone.

My father in law has settled into the home brilliantly. The rooms are clean, comfortable and homely. My father in law has medical needs and the staff are excellent with meeting his needs and looking after him. They build a rapport with him and have built a good relationship with him very quickly. He
is quite active and the staff make sure that he never gets bored with activities daily and spend time with him having a chat. Would definitely recommend for your loved ones, it has taken off so much pressure knowing that he is getting well looked after.

Dad came to harbour view this year and settled really well the staff have been amazing with him we as a family are secure in the fact that dad is looked after really well treated with dignity and respect and has made a new family the staff are also amazing with us keeping us up to date with dads needs
and keeping us involved with his care harbour view is a lovely place and I would recommend to any family facing placing a relative into care

Mum has settled into Harbour View really well following a traumatic start.
The staff have all been extremely welcoming and are very friendly and helpful.
Although she is a picky eater, Mum has put on weight since arriving, and so the food must be to her liking!
I would prefer if care staff changed
uniform before serving food, or possibly to be done by kitchen staff.

Following a hospital stay and a need for respite care my mother needed a break and time to recoup. Quickly assessed for her needs the team sorted a variant of care and support and nothing was too much trouble. I would like to thank the managers and the team who made a great difference. The top floor
staff were amazing and mum had some good laughs along the way. Keep up the good work guys it is very much appreciated.

The care which my Mam received at Harbour View was simply outstanding. From the very first moment I met with the lovely and understanding Manager I couldn't have felt more reassured and confident that my Mam was going to be looked after brilliantly. The staff are so caring, efficient and welcoming,
nothing was ever too much trouble for them. The bedroom was spotless, with a commanding view over the Harbour, enabling all our family to feel uplifted each time we visited. The food looked and smelled delicious. The staff who looked after Mam were so charming to her that she instantly felt at home. Medication was professionally administered and we were regularly informed of Mam's condition. This is a fantastic establishment; I cannot speak too highly of the loving and respectful team.

My mam went to Harbour View for end-of-life care, as she had advanced dementia and other medical issues, the home is very clean, the rooms are beautifully decorated and the staff are amazing and professional. The staff showed great care and compassion for my mam and made her feel welcomed and safe.
They treated her as an individual and tried their hardest to ensure the last couple of weeks of my mam's life were peaceful and calm. In a very difficult time, with Mam's complex medical needs, they treated her with the highest care and respect and made her feel that she was part of their family. They also made us, the family, feel welcomed and also made sure we were kept fully informed about the health and wellbeing of my mam.
I cannot recommend Harbour View highly enough and I will always be grateful for the way they looked after my mam.

My Mam was in Harbour View for a short 6 days before she died but I wish we had found this nursing home sooner for her. The home is clean, tidy and welcoming and the staff are all kind, caring, compassionate and they really looked after my mam and us as a family. My Mam had suffered a severe stroke
and they were able to meet her complex needs and make her as comfortable as possible during her time with them and kept us fully updated and communicated with us well at all times. The other residents all looked happy and content to be there and the staff spoke to everyone as if they knew them inside out. I know the thought of nursing homes for your loved ones can be daunting and a worry but please look around Harbour View as it is a lovely place, with good staff, lovely rooms with lovely views and I felt settled knowing how well my mam was being looked after.

My mam went into Harbour View after 4 months of being in hospitals. We were over the moon when mam got a place at Harbour View. From when she arrived she recieved excellent care and service as did we, her family. All the staff are so professional from management to carers, nurses, domestics, kitchen
staff and maintenance. My mam was only at Harbour View 24 hours and our family cannot thank this team enough for the excellent and dignified care given to my mam at the end of her life because you all made a massive difference to the rest of our lives. Thank you all.

I was delighted to find that Harbour View could offer respite accomodation at short notice for my mam. After initial anxiety about going to Harbour View, my mam settled nicely into the warm, friendly environment. The room was pleasant and the overall ambience of the home was welcoming. All the staff
I met were polite and friendly I went away reassured that mam would be well cared for. Chatting to Mam following her stay she commented on how friendly everyone was and how lovely the meals were. The activities coordinator was a bubbly person who obviously enjoyed her role in the home. Mam is already booked for her next stay. Thank you Harbour View.

Dad went in for a long weekend while we were away. Loved it and asked if he could move in. Been there about 18 months now, happy, lovely staff.

My granda suffered from dementia and was placed into Harbour View Care Home. He was looked after superbly and with the upmost amount of care and I cannot thank the staff enough. They looked after him until his passing and supported him in his new surroundings. Harbour View allowed my granda to meet
new people and enjoy a different experience and he loved it. The staff are friendly and down to earth, especially with the residents. I couldn’t thank Harbour View enough for their support after my granda’s passing.

My Uncle came into the home for short stays to start off with for a couple of days here and there, until his condition worsened and he moved in full-time. I was a bit hesitant at 1st as my dad had stayed in Harbour View Care Home previously till he died and his care was questionable. Since the new manager
has taken over she has turned the home round a full 180 and the care for my Uncle was second to none from the day he went in until the day he left. We were very well looked after by the staff especially the day my Uncle passed the staff were fantastic making a difficult day that bit easier.
I would recommend the home to anyone that is having to make the sad decision to have to place their loved ones in residential care.
Well done to the manager and everyone who works at Harbour View, you are all outstanding and I can't thank them enough.

Harbour View Care Home, is an outstanding care home.
I witnessed first-hand after my partner moved in how dedicated the staff are.
The home manager and all the staff, at every level, are brilliant.
They are a hard-working team, that gives care and support not only to the residents but to visiting
family members
The short time my partner who then became my husband while in the home received care on and above a level that is exceptional.
He sadly passed on the 23rd March 2023, aged 52, the staff, I cannot thank you enough for everything they brought to the last weeks of his life, with their support and care on a level that is outstanding. I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart.

I have nothing but praise for the facilities and staff. The staff go about their work diligently and professionally showing compassion at all times. There is a positive culture where residents and visitors are supported. Meals are adapted to suit individual preferences.
Security is good with keypads
on all exits.
Professional advice on process and funding is also available. I was introduced to the manager who was most helpful at all times.
End-of-life care provided was exceptional, approached with dignity and care.
The facility is having a phased refurbishment and the room we had use of was clean and tidy.

My name is Leanne Morgan. I have been a qualified adult nurse since 2005. I have worked in a variety of roles during my career, starting off on the Elderly care ward at the West Cumberland Hospital, then moving to work as a community nurse in the Whitehaven team for 9 years. Whilst my 3 children were young, I was offered a position as a school-aged immuniser, which was great at the time for family and work-life balance, but I missed general nursing.


In 2020, I applied for a job role as a night nurse at Harbour View, where I was successful in gaining this position and was quickly promoted to Deputy Home Manager. I worked as the Deputy Manager, and in 2022, I was successful in promotion to Home Manager and have been in this role ever since.
