Harbour View Lodge is located in the town of Whitehaven and overlooks the harbour. The home is close to shops, amenities and public transport.

This tastefully decorated purpose built home provides accommodation in single occupancy rooms, all of which have en-suite facilities.

Harbour View Lodge provides TV lounges and a quiet sitting room with beautiful harbour views, for relaxation. Separate dining rooms, where residents can socialise at meal times, are also available. Meals based on traditional cooking using fresh produce are served, and residents can select from the daily choices menus available. Special diets can be catered for.

Residents can benefit from the regular visits made to the home by an experienced hair stylist and qualified chiropodist. Complementary therapies can be arranged for individuals. A sensory/relaxation room has also been developed.

The home has an activities therapist who co-ordinates a varied programme of activities for residents.

My Brother has been in harbour view for the past 9months, I can't believe how well he has settled in.
The staff are unbelievably kind and patient, they go out of their way to accommodate his needs and he is happy and content.
He joins in the daily activities and on my few visits (due to Covid) he
is always smiling and happy in his surroundings.
It is such a relief to us (family members) that he is somewhere that genuinely cares about his well being and we can rest assured that he is getting the very best care possible.
Thank you Harbour view. You are truly appreciated.

My mother-in-law needed care after a minor operation. The care and dedication of all the staff was fantastic. After 66 years in her home, this was a very big change, they talked to her, cared for her and became friends with her. I would like to say a very big thank you - especially to the manager who

My son has been in Harbour View care home since January 2019. He likes it very much and I would not put him anywhere else and I know he would not go anywhere else as he is very settled here. He is very friendly with everyone. He tells me the meals are very good. I know he is getting well cared for.
I would recommend Harbour View Care Home to anyone and I do tell people I know that it is very good.

My mother has been in Harbour View for nearly four years, and in this time the standard of care has been fantastic from day 1, and never deteriorated. The staff have always been helpful, supportive and caring and I cannot thank them enough.

Value: I have nothing to compare it to. However, it is satisfactory. My wife is well cared for.
Dignity: Literally, this is a manner showing self-importance or the solemnity of an occasion. In a care home, respect is what counts. It implies kindly, considerate treatment of residents - a friendly and
comforting manner in words and deeds. Some carers are excellent.
All are good.
Activities: Liked by those fit enough to participate.

The staff are caring and hard working. They treat residents with respect and understanding of the individual needs.
The home provides activities that are appropriate for the residents' needs eg. Looking back in time, quizzes, music, beautician, music for health, harpist plus lots of others.

My mother has been a resident of Harbour View for over 18 months and the standard of care has been excellent from day one. As a resident, my mother can be 'a bit of a handful' and the nurses and carers all allow for her mood swings, which we all as a family appreciate.


Her medical condition means

that she can black out at any time and as such I don't think she could be in any place better than Harbour View.

I find the home very clean and I feel the carers so a fantastic job.
Food, in general, is good but for residents with specific dietary requirements, it is not so good nor varied.
I feel there are "understaffed" problems where a lot of "one to one" or spending time with residents fail due to work pressure,
but I feel this is vital in part of their care and needs to be addressed. Residents who are unable or do not drink by themselves, carers should be sitting with them and helping out as fluids are so important.

Mam has been in Harbour View Care Home 12 months tomorrow, mam was only there two weeks, when she had to be admitted to hospital again, after two weeks mam returned to Harbour View Care Home. Mam previously arrived at Harbour View Care Home after being in hospital six weeks, mam and family have had
to face total life changes and although a care home wasn't originally in the life's plan, have come to terms with it and are very happy for her to be there. I spend a lot of time each day with mam and have got to know the staff and procedure very well, they have given us a lot of support through a difficult time, I put my full trust in this dedication, as mam is a Bransty lady all her life, enjoys the wonderful Harbour.

Mum has recently entered Harbour View after having a very bad CVA, the family as a whole were traumatised by the whole effect this had has on us, and were devastated when we realised she couldn't go home.
The staff have all been welcoming, reassuring and you feel nothing is too much trouble, they have
made our transition easier than we could ever have hoped for. A massive thank you.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2022

My name is Leanne Morgan. I have been a qualified adult nurse since 2005. I have worked in a variety of roles during my career, starting off on the Elderly care ward at the West Cumberland Hospital, then moving to work as a community nurse in the Whitehaven team for 9 years. Whilst my 3 children were young, I was offered a position as a school-aged immuniser, which was great at the time for family and work-life balance, but I missed general nursing.


In 2020, I applied for a job role as a night nurse at Harbour View, where I was successful in gaining this position and was quickly promoted to Deputy Home Manager. I worked as the Deputy Manager, and in 2022, I was successful in promotion to Home Manager and have been in this role ever since.
