My Dad has been a resident of Harbour View since having his stroke in 2012 at only 53 years old. He is very well liked by all the staff and other residents in the home and is treated in a personal and professional manner. It can be difficult for someone my Dad's age to spend their time living in a residential home, but he receives the attention and care he needs 24/7 and we know he is in the right place. The staff are fantastic with him, and should all be commended for what they do.

My relative was made to feel welcome on arrival. The staff were caring and compassionate. The facilities were clean and well-appointed. He appreciated male staff were able to assist with showering.
Prior to respite, we were fully informed regarding Covid regulatory requirements.

We would definitely use again for respite.

Our dear dad was admitted to Harbour View Care Home in December 2021. During his time there he received excellent care from all of the staff. He wasn't an easy man to look after but the standard of care did not reflect that. I have held back filling in this review so that I could assess the standard of care during his passing. What we experienced was wonderful, professional and compassionate nurses/carers and we will be forever grateful for their outstanding love and care.

Staff always welcoming and available. My father was very well cared for even though we know he could be a difficult character. He became very complimentary towards some of his carers.

He passed away peacefully, thanks to the excellent nurses and carers, who do a hard job with little thanks. They deserve to be appreciated more in our society. Thank you

My Mam began her stay at Harbour View Care Home at the beginning of the month. She was very poorly but with the dedication and care of the staff she is starting to pick up. As I live in London, they have also taken the time to keep me in touch, which is greatly appreciated. It seems that nothing is too much trouble for them.

I can't commend Harbour View Care Home enough for the exemplary treatment care and attention all the staff and care assistants have shown my mother while she has been receiving palliative end of life care. They have shown my mother and my family very compassionate and friendly care and dignity at such a difficult time.

Harbour View Care Home did an amazing job of taking care of my grandmother in her final days. They kept us very well informed and gave her excellent care keeping her comfortable, safe and happy. I want to thank all the staff from the bottom of my heart, who made an awful time a little easier. I'd love to thank one of the nurses who made us all feel at ease and made this horrible situation bearable, she is a credit to this care home and a credit to the nursing community.

My dad was admitted after a stay at the hospital as it wasn’t safe for him to be at home, he was end stage cancer care. All the staff were welcoming and Dad enjoyed his chats about Liverpool etc, we arranged to have Mum admitted to the room next door after her discharge from hospital. After a long stay, it was lovely to see them together to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. As my brother and I don’t live in the area it was reassuring to know that they were both safe. During Dad's final days, everyone was so helpful and kept the tea flowing even at 3am! They looked after Dad as professionals and also treated him with dignity. I was allowed to be with him during his last hours and the nurses were great spending time explaining options and care every step of the way. Thank you to you all. On Dad's final journey on the day of his funeral, he stopped by so everyone could come out and say goodbye.

Our Uncle has been a resident of the care home for a year now, during his stay he has been treated with dignity and respect. He has quite complex needs which have been met at every turn by compassionate and caring staff. He has always been a very independent man and with the help of the staff he still is and as a family for that, we are very grateful.

My Brother has been in harbour view for the past 9months, I can't believe how well he has settled in.
The staff are unbelievably kind and patient, they go out of their way to accommodate his needs and he is happy and content.
He joins in the daily activities and on my few visits (due to Covid) he is always smiling and happy in his surroundings.
It is such a relief to us (family members) that he is somewhere that genuinely cares about his well being and we can rest assured that he is getting the very best care possible.

Thank you Harbour view. You are truly appreciated.

My mother-in-law needed care after a minor operation. The care and dedication of all the staff was fantastic. After 66 years in her home, this was a very big change, they talked to her, cared for her and became friends with her. I would like to say a very big thank you - especially to the manager who went the extra mile.

My son has been in Harbour View care home since January 2019. He likes it very much and I would not put him anywhere else and I know he would not go anywhere else as he is very settled here. He is very friendly with everyone. He tells me the meals are very good. I know he is getting well cared for. I would recommend Harbour View Care Home to anyone and I do tell people I know that it is very good.

Review from Colin M (Husband of Resident) published on 12 July 2019 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience
Value: I have nothing to compare it to. However, it is satisfactory. My wife is well cared for.
Dignity: Literally, this is a manner showing self-importance or the solemnity of an occasion. In a care home, respect is what counts. It implies kindly, considerate treatment of residents - a friendly and comforting manner in words and deeds. Some carers are excellent.
All are good.

Activities: Liked by those fit enough to participate.

My name is Leanne Morgan. I have been a qualified adult nurse since 2005. I have worked in a variety of roles during my career, starting off on the Elderly care ward at the West Cumberland Hospital, then moving to work as a community nurse in the Whitehaven team for 9 years. Whilst my 3 children were young, I was offered a position as a school-aged immuniser, which was great at the time for family and work-life balance, but I missed general nursing.

In 2020, I applied for a job role as a night nurse at Harbour View, where I was successful in gaining this position and was quickly promoted to Deputy Home Manager. I worked as the Deputy Manager, and in 2022, I was successful in promotion to Home Manager and have been in this role ever since.
