The staff are caring and hard working. They treat residents with respect and understanding of the individual needs.
The home provides activities that are appropriate for the residents' needs eg. Looking back in time, quizzes, music, beautician, music for health, harpist plus lots of others.

Staff are well informed to the residents' requirements.

My mother has been a resident of Harbour View for over 18 months and the standard of care has been excellent from day one. As a resident, my mother can be 'a bit of a handful' and the nurses and carers all allow for her mood swings, which we all as a family appreciate.

Her medical condition means that she can black out at any time and as such I don't think she could be in any place better than Harbour View.

I find the home very clean and I feel the carers so a fantastic job.
Food, in general, is good but for residents with specific dietary requirements, it is not so good nor varied.

I feel there are "understaffed" problems where a lot of "one to one" or spending time with residents fail due to work pressure, but I feel this is vital in part of their care and needs to be addressed. Residents who are unable or do not drink by themselves, carers should be sitting with them and helping out as fluids are so important.

Mam has been in Harbour View Care Home 12 months tomorrow, mam was only there two weeks, when she had to be admitted to hospital again, after two weeks mam returned to Harbour View Care Home. Mam previously arrived at Harbour View Care Home after being in hospital six weeks, mam and family have had to face total life changes and although a care home wasn't originally in the life's plan, have come to terms with it and are very happy for her to be there. I spend a lot of time each day with mam and have got to know the staff and procedure very well, they have given us a lot of support through a difficult time, I put my full trust in this dedication, as mam is a Bransty lady all her life, enjoys the wonderful Harbour.

Mum has recently entered Harbour View after having a very bad CVA, the family as a whole were traumatised by the whole effect this had has on us, and were devastated when we realised she couldn't go home.

The staff have all been welcoming, reassuring and you feel nothing is too much trouble, they have made our transition easier than we could ever have hoped for. A massive thank you.

Leanne Morgan
Leanne MorganJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2022

My name is Leanne Morgan. I have been a qualified adult nurse since 2005. I have worked in a variety of roles during my career, starting off on the Elderly care ward at the West Cumberland Hospital, then moving to work as a community nurse in the Whitehaven team for 9 years. Whilst my 3 children were young, I was offered a position as a school-aged immuniser, which was great at the time for family and work-life balance, but I missed general nursing.

In 2020, I applied for a job role as a night nurse at Harbour View, where I was successful in gaining this position and was quickly promoted to Deputy Home Manager. I worked as the Deputy Manager, and in 2022, I was successful in promotion to Home Manager and have been in this role ever since.
