Appleby Grange

I am very pleased with the response of management and staff to my son's needs. He is treated with care and dignity and not a little humour. He has not been at Appleby for very long and the early weeks were a learning experience for everyone. An experience that was conducted with honestly. Despite not being a typical nursing home patient he is included and enjoys being there.

Placing a loved one in a care home is a very big decision. Having made the decision all I can say is we made the right one and picked the right place in Appleby Grange. All staff show compassion and care to all residents. All the time the staff are never having a bad bay, always smiling and happy. We would recommend Appleby Grange to anyone.

Family member was in Appleby, he was happy and content, staff were good at job, the home was clean and tidy, good food, thank you for ensuring he was comfortable in his last months, can't thank everyone enough.

My aunty was loved and cared for during her time at the Grange. The staff were always lovely and treated her with respect. My experience of visiting the Grange was always positive - it was always clean, and everyone was always friendly. The manager has been so kind and lovely to deal with. My aunty was happy at the Grange. Thank you.

There has been a new Manager in place for the last few months who has engaged well with me on my visits and they seem to want to improve the standards to an even higher level than it is now. This Care home is ideal for people who have lived local and don’t want to places away from nearby relatives.

Appleby Grange became Dad's home for the last few weeks of his life. Their exemplary care of him was quickly evident and much appreciated by us (his family) at a time when in-person visiting was not possible. Staff were very helpful when we phoned for updates and had virtual visits with Dad via video conferencing. In his final days when we were able to be with him, it was obvious he had quickly become part of the Appleby Grange 'family'. We will always be grateful for the love, care and respect Dad was given in his final weeks by the wonderful staff at Appleby Grange. Thank you.

I would like to thank the staff of The Grange for the care they have provided my mum over the past 14 months. Their affection for her is apparent and she has been kept safe and well during the pandemic which has been a very difficult time for the staff. They have provided the opportunity for me to visit on her birthday (physically but not socially distanced) so we could chat over the garden gate and my father was delighted to visit on their 60th Wedding Anniversary in July. Although she has very little memory and struggles to string sentences together she always appears to be very relaxed and has a great rapport with staff.

My sister has been a resident during the last few months and thank you to all the team for providing excellent care with a high level of professional standards and dignity. I can't wait to visit and see my sister once again.

My granda is in Appleby Grange and although we are not allowed to visit at present, the Grange are doing weekly FaceTimes to us and other family members, which is brilliant and so beneficial for grand and us as a family. The staff are so kind and thoughtful.

As a family, we feel we couldn't have asked for a more caring environment, dedicated staff who listen to and support the family as well as their residents. Thank you, everyone, for making our father happy and settled.

The care and compassion shown by all the staff here are exceptional, especially at this difficult time. Wonderful team and so pleased we chose Appleby Grange.

I felt it necessary to write another review relating to current times. Appleby Grange has protected and kept our family safe within the home for months now and with all the extra hard work they are doing in this pandemic. I think it is wonderful. They are face-timing us weekly so we are able to keep in touch with our loved ones. They deserve a medal.

I am delighted with the overall care that the staff at Appleby Grange have shown my mother. All the staff show compassion and kindness to mam and as a family we have peace of mind that she is safe and well cared for. There is one concern which we feel is of urgent attention and that is the extremely outdated and intrusive resident's personal care alarm. The shrill ear-piercing noise is completely unacceptable and should be changed to a much more modern system ie nurse/carer pagers.

My mother has been resident for almost four years and has significant needs. I cannot praise all of the staff highly enough for the level of care, friendliness and the dignified way in which they treat the residents. It is a safe and secure place with a very nice atmosphere.

My dad has been in Appleby Grange for 1 1/2 years approx most of the time things are of an extremely good standard. Very pleasant and friendly staff. Always putting my dad's needs first.

I am comforted in the knowledge that the resident is receiving the best care form this facility.

My Grandad stayed here for respite care in December, he loved it and was sad to leave. Every time I visited, the staff were wonderful and friendly. I was always offered refreshments and looked after very well. The care they showed my Grandad was second to none and I will highly recommend Appleby Grange.

Location in home town is always very important for the family, not all may drive and bus services are poor. With local employment most people who work here know your family which helps you know the person is in good hands with the carers at the Grange. The carers are all good and go that extra to help when possible. Just like a big family that works together. Thank you to all, I know at times it's not easy. Well done all.

My Mother is currently in Appleby Grange and I am delighted with the care, kindness and support that is shown both to her and us. The home is beautiful and the staff, admin and manager are wonderful. She is very happy and so are we.

When you walk into Appleby Grange it is always very clean and tidy. All the staff are very welcoming and inform you if anything is wrong with my mother. If I visit at a mealtime, always asked if I or we would like a cup of tea or whatever. The activities are also very good too. She is always very well cared for.
