Aycliffe Care Home is situated in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, just a five minute walk away from the town centre.

It has received a lot of positive feedback about the warm and friendly greeting it gives to visitors . The setting is well known for its generous hospitality!

Staff engage in a very honest, natural way with the residents. They really care about them. They always make sure they look presentable – that the ladies have their make-up on and their clothing and accessories match, that the gents are shaved and their hair combed.

When members of staff pass the residents they’re always very positive and affectionate, at the same time treating them with respect and dignity.      

Aycliffe has a full-time activities co-ordinator who keeps the residents active. There is a film club. The local church has a weekly listening service. There is also a resident committee which produces a newsletter.

There’s plenty going on outside the home as well. Residents often get a taxi to town to shop, go to a café, the library, the leisure centre or perhaps to the ice cream parlour. Residents have regular trips out for example to the petting zoos.

Although my wife doesn't want to be here I myself think she is well looked after and cared for and I'm happy she is safe here.

My mam was at Aycliffe Care Home and during this time she received the best care possible from all the staff. She was treated with utmost dignity and care and it was a happy place for her until the end (Dementia) took her. We were (family) all treated with respect and dignity, right to the very end.

Although not the "Poshest" care home, the staff and care are outstanding. Nothing is too much for the staff and the residents are cared for with dignity and their personal needs are at the top of the carers' list. My dad has been there for 6 weeks now and he absolutely loves it, he's hoping to become
a permanent resident as he has made friends and is surrounded by people meaning he is no longer isolated and is getting plenty of mental stimulation through the wide range of activities put on by the home. The catering is excellent, in the words of my dad, "Top Class!". He basically wants for nothing. Thanks to all the staff for making this such a special place.

The whole team are amazing with my dad. He is terminally ill and I really believe their care is giving him quality of life and extending the span. He is so much more relaxed now, his pain is under control and he can laugh again. The staff spoil him and he loves it.

An excellent, high-quality, care home. The Aycliffe Care Home provides a dedicated service to residents. It is extremely well managed, employing staff who are friendly and caring. The building is clean and inviting and well maintained. Mother-in-Law, a resident for several weeks, speaks highly of the
care she receives, the quality of the food, and the overall atmosphere in the home. The home pays attention to detail and expects visitors to comply with Covid 19 procedures.

The Aycliffe Care Home is probably one of the best Care Homes. We have visited my mother on several occasions during the past few weeks. The home has always been well organised, clean, with the staff pleasant, helpful, and caring. Visitors are expected to comply with Covid 19 prevention procedures and
to notify the home before attending.

My mother received rehabilitation and end-of-life care over August/September/October 2021. The overriding experience for Mam and the family was one of kindness from all staff. Her dignity was of great importance to all staff and supporting family throughout when we stayed with Mum in her room for over
7 days and nights until she died. All her care needs were met and responses were timely for her pain relief. We as a family will always be grateful to the staff and manager.

During the past nine months, times have been very difficult in care homes. I last saw my wife who has been a resident for five and a half years twice within this time she is bedfast and needs nursing care. With this in mind, I would like to thank all of the staff who have kept me informed of my wife’s
condition during this time. I have been kept up to date with phone calls and video chats on a weekly basis. I can only thank all of the staff for all their hard work and devotion during this awful time. We are very pleased that we chose Aycliffe care and would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone.

Our Mam had to go into Aycliffe Care Home permanently in January of this year. She settled in straight away and whenever we visit, is always happy and smiling. The home is always spotlessly clean and welcoming. Nothing is a trouble, and there's always somebody to talk to if there's a problem. Since
lockdown, although we haven't been able to visit, staff have made sure we have been kept up to day with Mam's situation. Now that we are able to book outside visits, once again, they are working so hard to keep all the resident covid free. We feel very lucky knowing that our Mam is safe and so well cared for by all the staff. Our heartfelt thanks to each and every one.

My dad spent 31 months at Aycliffe, living with Alzheimer's. We were immediately attracted to the Home as a light and airy building with neat rooms, imaginative corridors, accessible management and friendly staff. First impressions were accurate. Dad was looked after so well. Everyone played their part
- the cleaners who ensured his room was spick and span and chatted to him - the care assistants who had time to reassure him with a word or a hug - the nursing staff who kept us informed of developments in his health, attended him in hospital and looked after him as we would have wanted him to be looked after if we could have done it our selves. He loved his haircuts and his chiropody and being outside helping the caretaker (with an assisting pint to keep him going!). If I ever need the services of a care home I hope they will be half as good as the people I met at Aycliffe.

We visited several care homes in the area before my dad moved into one and we all felt that Aycliffe Care Home was the best, his previous short-term stays had all been positive too.
In terms of facilities, the building is light, spacious, well laid out and nicely appointed. In my experience, most of
the staff have been excellent with a couple who have built particularly close relationships with my dad, which has been wonderful to see.

I have found most of the staff very kind and caring. They will always speak to residents as they pass through the lounge. However, there are always exceptions some staff can be jolly my husband along but if he is given an order he doesn't respond well. I don't want to comment on the management as both
the manager and her deputy are comparatively new but they seem to have good ideas.

I try to visit my dad every couple of weeks and have found his care to be extremely good when I am in. He suffers from dementia and is very frail, unable to perform the most basic tasks for himself. He appears to respond to some of the staff extremely well and they are able to humour him and to have
a laugh with him. As I am not in daily I am unable to comment on some aspects and will, therefore, leave them blank. There is generally a good atmosphere within the home and his brighter days I can see my dad is happy to be there.

My mother who suffered from acute vascular dementia and frailty has been a resident at Aycliffe Care Home for nearly three years.
She passed away recently following a fall and hip repair. Throughout her stay in the home, I have found the staff to be very caring and attentive to her welfare.
Mum has
always been clean and well presented. She enjoyed a laugh and the staff readily joined her singing and dancing.
Dementia has been a devastating disease that took from my mother her speech, reasoning and life purpose. I am indebted to the staff at the home who worked so hard to make my mother's life happy safe and bearable.

My mum has been resident at this home for just over 2 years. She has advanced dementia.The highlight of the home is the care staff. They treat my mum with dignity and respect but also see her as a "real" person. They make sure that her hair is done, her nails are polished and they talk to her and laugh
with her often. They also engage with me and my dad and recognise that we sometimes need their support too. My mum smiles when she sees the carers and that really says it all.
