I'm a registered learning disabilities nurse with a background of working in mental health. I started my career working in a male acute setting, progressing to senior nurse before being offered a role as deputy manager in a learning disabilities residential for complex needs. I quickly progressed to manager and worked hard to establish good relationships with the local authority and families, taking the service to a good CQC from requires improvement. I left there in 2023 and started the process of CQC registration for a recruitment agency, to become a provider of services in their own right. I successfully navigated registration and opened adult-supported living and later crisis placements for children in care of the local authority.
The role was very rewarding, but I lacked the opportunity to use my nursing skills. I live locally and heard about the role at Brockwell. I thought this would be an ideal opportunity to use my skills, provide person-centred, quality care and give something back to the local community. I live local and I am a mum of 7. I'm looking forward to building relationships with our families and local community to make sure our residents have a fulfilled life with high-quality care.
