The staff are very respectful to residents, professional but with humour and compassion. My relative is always clean and tidy; the home itself is homely and welcoming. The home has lots of ways to contact my relative, even a facility to video chat, which is lovely, especially during Covid.
Reply from Paul Millar, Marketing Manager at St Helens Care HomeMany thanks for taking the time to comment on our home. It is our pleasure to care for your sister. We are very proud of the colleagues at St Helens and all feedback allows us to continue to maintain the high standards set by the manager and her team. I will, of course, pass your kinds words on.

My dad has been in the care home for some time now. The staff are outstanding and know his behaviour and vulnerabilities more than his own family due to his health needs. During covid-19, the staff have been amazing using social media to keep relative and friends updated of the home. My dad is in the
best place regarding his vulnerabilities due to an infection 10-years ago. Thank you to all staff.

My overall experience when visiting my father is good, he's happy and content in his surroundings. The majority of the staff are caring and hard working. The cleanliness of the home is excellent and so is the food that is catered for to each resident's dietary needs.

This was the only care home in the area that would agree to accommodate my husband so we had no choice.
However, the staff are highly qualified compared to the last place and I feel confident that his needs will be fully cared for while ensuring the safety of those around him.

When we had to move my Mum to a new home St Helens was recommended. On first impression I was unsure. The rooms were small, darker and without ensuite facilities compared to where she had been. However, I was impressed by the manager and the staff we met. Eight months down the line I am completely satisfied
with how she has settled and how she is looked after. The carers understand her needs and I have been impressed by how they interact with her. We are always made welcome and there is always someone on hand to report on how Mum has been. The residents are always supervised in the lounge and I feel confident my Mum is in safe hands. Good care means more to my Mum at this stage in her life than fancy furnishings and this is what she gets in St Helens.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.535)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.535) out of 10 for St Helens Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.760 for St Helens Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (97 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 125 Ratings = 4.76
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Helens Care Home is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
